Objective To conduct a systematic review with evidence collected from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of domestic and overseas acupuncture for nervous tinnitus. Methods RCTs were searched in several databases i.e. CNKI, VIP, CBM and PubMed, using the keywords of acupuncture and tinnitus. The efficacy and methodologies were evaluated using meta-analysis by RevMan5.0. Efficacy indexes i.e. recovery rate, significant efficiency rate, total effective rate of acupuncture in treating nervous tinnitus were assessed using odds ratio (OR). Funnel plot was drawn to analyze publication bias. Begg’s rank test and Egger’s linear regression test were conducted to measure symmetry in funnel plot by using Stata 11.0. Results Fifteen RCTs involving 1082 patients met the inclusive criteria. The results of meta-analyses showed that recovery rate (OR=2.82, 95%CI 1.89 to 4.20), significant efficiency rate (OR=1.75, 95%CI 1.26 to 2.44), total effective rate (OR=3.68, 95%CI 2.62 to 5.16) were significantly higher in acupuncture group than control group. Begg’s rank test (P=0.350) and Egger’s linear regression test (P=0.887) showed partly symmetry in funnel plot with unfilled corner, which indicated that some degree of bias existed in the included studies. Conclusion According to the analysis results, acupuncture or acupuncture combining other therapies were superior to pure medication or non-acupuncture treatments. However, high-quality, large-sample, randomized, controlled trials seem to be needed to further confirm the efficacy of acupuncture, owing to the different standards and research methods, limited qualities of the included studies.

Objective: To investigate the incidence and trends in incidence of stroke among residents in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province from 2014 to 2020, so as to provide insights into stroke control. Methods: The stroke morbidity data in Lianyungang City from 2014 to 2020 were captured from Lianyungang Municipal System for Monitoring of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, and standardized by the sixth national population census data in China in 2010. The trends in stroke incidence were evaluated using average annual percentage change (AAPC), and the gender-, age-, region- and disease type-specific incidence and trends in incidence of stroke were descriptively analyzed. Results: Totally 162 423 new stroke cases were diagnosed in Lianyungang City from 2014 to 2020 new case, and the annual mean crude and standardized incidence rates were 435.32/105 and 357.28/105, which both appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=12.61%, t=39.098, P<0.001; AAPC=9.91%, t=6.123, P<0.001) . The standardized incidence of stroke was significantly higher in men than in women (389.63/105 vs. 327.17/105; χ2=4.056, P=0.044). The crude incidence of stroke appeared a tendency towards a rise with age among residents (χ2trend=258.219, P<0.001), and appeared a tendency towards a rise among residents at ages of <35 (AAPC=22.52%, t=6.723, P<0.001), 35 to 64 (AAPC=9.78%, t=7.867, P<0.001) and 65 years and older (AAPC=10.24%, t=5.156, P<0.001). The crude incidence was higher in rural areas than in urban areas (437.72/105 vs. 425.31/105; χ2=20.709, P<0.001). Ischemic stroke was the predominant type (139 680 cases, 86.00% of all cases), and both the crude and standardized incidence appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=13.79%, t=16.865, P<0.001; AAPC=10.88%, t=5.128, P<0.001). Conclusion The incidence of stroke appeared a tendency towards a rise among residents living in Lianyungang City from 2014 to 2020. Men, middle-age and elderly residents and rural residents are high-risk populations for stroke control.

Objective To analyze the occurrence of clinical adverse drug reaction (ADR) of tonic Chinese medicinal herbs. Methods Articles about ADR of tonic Chinese medicinal herbs reported from January 1990 to February 2014 were collected from databases of CNKI, VIP, CBM, Pubmed and Embase according to incorporation and exclusion standard. Metrology analysis was also conducted. Results Totally 378 effective articles showed tonic Chinese medicinal herbs most likely to induce ADR were as follows:individual Chinese medicinal herbs including Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Lycii Fructus and Astragali Radix;injection containing Shenmai Injection, Shengmai Injection and Acanthopanax Injection;other herbal preparation covering Polygoni Multiflori tablets. The most common ADR involved the damage on skin tissue, nervous system and digestive system, with prominent relevant clinical symptoms such as itching, skin rash, dizziness, unconsciousness, nausea, vomiting, and liver dysfunction. Conclusion Correct understanding adverse reaction of tonic Chinese medicinal herbs will be conducive to rational drug use and avoiding risk.

Objective To study the anti-calcification function properties of bovine jugular conduit with valves stabilized by dye-mediated photooxidation.Methods Sixteen bovine jugular conduit with valves were divided into two groups and treated with dye-mediated photooxidation(groupⅠ) and glutaraldehyde(group Ⅱ).The bovine jugular vein was cut into pieces and implanted subcutaneously in the 16 weanling SD rats.After 90 days,all the rats were sacrificed and the retrieved specimens were undergone histological examination by electron microscope and microscope.The calcium content was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer.Results The walls and valves of bovine jugular vein treated by dye-mediated photooxidation had less calcification than those of the group Ⅱ.Conclusion The dye-mediated photooxidation can effectively preserve the calcification of bovine jugular conduit with valves compared with the way treated by glutaraldehyde.

We studied the epidemiological characteristics of human bocavirus 4 (HBoV4) in children with a- cute gastroenteritis in Lanzhou (China). A total of 331 stool specimens were collected from children aged < 5 years with acute diarrhea at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University between July 2012 and June 2013. Specimens of HBoV were identified by nested polymerase chain reaction assays. Compared with related sequences in GenBank, the HBoV-positive strain isolated in the present study was,quite surprisingly, a rare genotype named HBoV4. This strain was a typical HBoV4,with high levels of nucleotide and amino acid homology to the Thailand strain, JQ267789 (98.9% and 98.7%, respectively), and the USA strain, GQ506568 (97.6% and 97.4%, respectively). This is the first report of HBoV4 as the causative agent for acute gastroenteritis in pediatric patients in China. This strain is one of two genotypes of HBoV that are currently circulating.

[Objective]This study was designed to investigate the effects of 5-aminoimidasole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside (AICAR)on activity of transcription factor Forkhead O 3a(FOXO3a)and expression of ubiquitin ligase muscle atrophy F-box (MAFbx),and to explore the role of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)on proteolysis pathways in eardiomyocytes.[Methods]The effect of AICAR on activation of AMPK was observed.Cultured neonatal rat cardiomyocytes was treated with AICAR in different concentration.Cultured cardiomyocytes were then divided into three groups:control group,AICAR group,AICAR+Compound C group.Effects of AMPK activation on phosphorylation of FOXO3a and expression of MAFbx in cardiomyocytes were detected using Western blot.[Results]①Compared with control group,activity of AMPK in cultured cardiomyocytes was increased after treatment with 0.25 mmol/L or 0.5 mmol/L AICAR for 6 h(P＜0.05),and the activity of AMPK was further enhanced after treatment with 1.0 mmol/L or 2.0 mmol/L AICAR for 6 h(P＜0.01).②Activation of AMPK by AICAR significantly increased the transcriptional activity of FOXO3a(P＜0.01),and enhanced MAFbx protein expression in cardiomyocytes when comparing with control group(P＜0.01),however,specific AMPK antagonist Compound C markedly reversed these effects induced by AICAR.[Conclusion]AMPK may regulate cardiomyocytes proteolysis by activation of FOXO3a transcription factor,and up-regulation of MAFbx protein expression.

Objective: To investigate the trends in the disease burden of leukemia in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019, so as to provide insights into leukemia control in Jiangsu Province. Methods: The prevalence, incidence, death and disability adjusted life years (DALYs) of leukemia in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019 were retrieved from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD 2019) database, and standardized by the age structure of Chinese populations in 2000. The trends in the disease burden of leukemia in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019 were analyzed using average annual percent change (AAPC). Results : The average annual standardized prevalence, incidence, mortality and DALY rate of leukemia were 63.63/105, 9.76/105, 4.10/105 and 194.83/105 in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019, respectively. The average annual standardized prevalence (AAPC=1.420%, t=5.644, P<0.001) and incidence (AAPC=0.806%, t=3.505, P<0.001) of leukemia appeared a tendency towards a rise, while the average annual standardized mortality (AAPC=-1.589%, t=-14.714, P<0.001) and DALY rate (AAPC=-1.849%, t=-9.046, P<0.001) of leukemia appeared a tendency towards a decline in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019. Higher average annual standardized prevalence (65.27/105 vs. 62.38/105, P<0.001), incidence (10.32/105 vs. 9.29/105, P<0.001), mortality (4.69/105 vs. 3.57/105, P<0.001) and DALY rate of leukemia (216.94/105 vs. 172.80/105, P<0.001) were estimated among men than among women. The crude prevalence of leukemia peaked among patients at ages of 0 to 14 years and 60 to 74 years, and the crude incidence, DALY rate and mortality of leukemia peaked at ages of 0 to 14 years and 75 years and older. Conclusions The mortality and DALY of leukemia appeared a tendency towards a decline and the prevalence and incidence appeared a tendency towards a rise in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2019; however, there were high disease burdens of leukemia among men, children and the elderly.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of electrical stimulation at acupoints in the distribution area of auricular vagus nerve combined with sound masking on auditory brainstem response (ABR) and contents of neurotransmitters of γ-aminobutyric acid (γ-GABA), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and acetyl choline (Ach) in inferior colliculus of tinnitus rats.

METHODSTwenty-four male adult SD rats were randomized into a control group, a model group, a 7-d treatment group and a 15-d treatment group. Except the control group, rats in the remaining groups were treated with intraperitoneal injection of 10% salicylate sodium at a dose of 350 mg/kg to establish tinnitus model. Rats in the control group were treated with injection of 0.9% NaCl. Rats in the 7-d treatment group and 15-d treatment group were treated with electrical stimulation at "Shenmen (TF₄)" and "Yidan (CO₁₁)" in the distribution area of auricular vagus nerve combined with sound masking, once a day, for 7 days and 15 days. The SigGenRP software of TDT system was applied to provide voice for single ear and collect the signal, and the voice threshold of ABR was tested. The levels of γ-GABA, 5-HT and Ach in inferior colliculus of rats were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared.

RESULTSCompared with the model group, the threshold values of ABR in 12 kHz and 16 kHz voice stimulation in the 7-d treatment group were significantly lower all P < 0.05); the threshold values of ABR from 4 kHz to 28 kHz voice stimulation in the 15-d treatment group were signally reduced (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), which was more significant than those in the 7-d treatment group. The level of γ-GABA in the model group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05), and that in the 15-d treatment group was apparently higher than that in the model group (P < 0.05). The level of 5-HT in the model group was markedly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05), and that in the 7-d treatment group was lower than that in the model group (P < 0.05), while that in the 15-d treatment group was apparently higher than that in the model group (P < 0.05). The level of Ach in the model group was obviously; lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05), and that in the 7-d treatment group was higher than that in the model group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONElectrical stimulation at auricular vagus nerve combined with sound masking) could regulate the threshold of ABR, especially in the 15-d treatment group. This may be ascribed to modulating the levels of neurotransmitter of γ-GABA, 5-HT and Ach in inferior colliculus.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and related factors of obesity and central obesity among 35-75 year-old population in Jiangsu Province. Methods: During 2015-2017,83 530 eligible subjects aged 35-75 years from six study sites of Jiangsu Province were interviewed and examined. The data of demography,lifestyles,disease history,height,weight and waistline were collected. Logistic regression analysis was conducted for the influencing factors for obesity and central obesity. Results: A total of 83 393 residents completed the study,with a response rate of 99.84%. The prevalence of overweight,obesity and central obesity was 43.35%（standardized rate：35.90%）,20.02%（19.48%）and 59.93%（57.03%）. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that females（OR=0.822,95%CI：0.786-0.859;OR=0.900,95%CI：0.851-0.952;OR=1.130,95%CI：1.083-1.179）,45-75 years old（OR：1.120-1.731,95%CI：1.102-1.881）,graduating from high school or above（OR：0.767-0.902,95%CI：0.721-0.943）,living in urban areas（OR：1.530-2.077,95%CI：1.284-3.007）,smoking（OR：0.724-0.855,95%CI：0.678-0.898）,drinking （OR：1.125-1.179,95%CI：1.076-1.235）,hypertension（OR：1.884-3.461,95%CI：1.821-3.613）,diabetes（OR：1.363-1.758,95%CI：1.305-1.851）, dyslipidemia（OR：1.478-1.870,95%CI：1.429-1.851）were associated with overweight,obesity and central obesity. Conclusion The standardized prevalence rates of overweight,obesity and central obesity among 35-75 year-old population in Jiangsu Province are 35.90%,19.48% and 57.03%,respectively. Gender,age,education,residence,smoking,drinking,hypertension,diabetes and dyslipidemia are related factors.

BACKGROUNDBased on the earlier mapping of the epitope recognized by neutralizing antibody, the authors directly replaced binding domain of IFN in AB-loop for enhancement of biological activity.

METHODSTwo unique restriction sites (EcoR? and BsE?) were created into region flanking LoopAB. Casette mutagesis, restriction enzyme digestion, DNA sequencing, antiviral activity assay and antiproliferative activity assay have been used in the project.

RESULTSThe mutated residues M31?D,D32?P of LoopAB in parent IFN were produced. The recombinant phagemid pCANTAB5E/3132IFN 1c/86D and expression plasmid PBV322-132IFN 1c/86D were constructed respectively by replacing the corresponding LoopAB with DNA fragment mutated in the residues M31?D,D32?P, which have been confirmed. The recombinant protein has been expressed in E.coli JM103. The crude 3132IFN 1c/86D has been assayed on human WISH cells challenged with VSV and on HeLa cells by colorimetric MTT. 3132IFN 1c/86D showed 8-old antiviral activity compared to that of parent IFN 1c/86D, while IFN?induced growth inhibition of both types had no difference.

CONCLUSIONSThe authors concluded that a mutant IFN with enhanced antiviral activity can be obtained via a targeted replacement of receptor binding domain in AB-loop.
