Objective: To study the attenuating effect of angiotensin I type 1 receptor antagonist losartan and an-giotensin converting enzyme inhibitor captopril on aortic atherosclerosis in rabbits. Methods: Thirty-one male New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 5 groups:control group, high cholesterol diet group, losartan group, captopril group and combined drug administration groupdosartan+captopril). The animals were killed after 16 weeks and the serum total cholesterol ,triglyceride, high and low density cholesterol .atherosclertic ratio, endothelin,NO,plaque area percentage, aortic cholesterol content and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) apoptosis were determined. Results:The plaque area percentage, aortic cholesterol contents and endothelin levels of 3 drug treatment groups were significantly lower than that of high cholesterol group,NO contents and VSMC apoptosis were significantly higher. Conclusion:Losartan and captopril can attenuate aortic atherosclerosis induced by high cholesterol diet .combined administration of the 2 drugs at low doses are more effective. The mechanism may be related to the protection of endothelial function and the effect on apoptosis of VSMC.

SUMMARY Takayasu’s arteritis is a rare, idiopathic, chronic inflammatory disease. Its course is un-predictable,but slow progression is usual, leading to stenosis, occlusion,or aneurismal degeneration of the aorta or its major branches. We present the anesthesia management of pregnancy in four women ad-mitted to Peking University Third Hospital for caesarean section from year 2006 to 2015 complicated with Takayasu’s arteritis and review this disease with special reference to natural history, diagnostic criteria, classification, prognostic factors, and anesthesia considerations.Anesthesiological data were retrospec-tively analyzed for clinical manifestations, anesthesia process, perioperative complications, and pregnan-cy outcome. One patient received only epidural anesthesia, while the other three patients received com-bined spinal and epidural anesthesia (CSEA).Surgeries for all the four patients were successful with sta-ble vital signs. We found comprehensive examinations including whether the disease was in the active phase and the clinical classification of the disease before conception was recommended for patients diag-nosed with Takayasu’s arteritis.CSEA and continuous epidural block could be both used as anesthesio-logical method in patients with Takayasu’s arteritis.During the surgery,to avoid rapid hemodynamic fluctuations and protect the major organs’function is very essential to allow for a satisfactory outcome.

Objective To investigate the regulation of metabolize characteristic of some antibiotics in ACST in human bile, and provide the theoretic basis for physician selecting antibiotic rationally when biliary tract has been infected. Methods Samples of ACST in human bile were obtained by ERCP + ENBD, contents of Cefradine, Cefoperazone, Ceftriaxone, Ciprofloxacin and Lomefloxacin in human bile were simultaneously measured by HPLC method. Results After antibiotics were given through iv 0. 25 ~ 1. 5 hour, an increase was observed in contents of all antibiotics in bile, and the changes of Ceftriaxone and Ciprofloxa-cin were the most significant ( P <0.01). Ceftriaxone and Ciprofloxacin had a higher Cmax than other antibiotics, and Cefoperazone had a longer tl/2. Conclusion As maintaining a little time to tmax , a higher Cmax and a longer tl/2 in the bile by iv, Cefradine and Ciprofloxacin are recommended in the patient with ACST.

Objective To investigate the apoptotic effects of hypertrophic scar fibroblast (HSF) induced by HMME-PDT.Methods Fibroblasts were cultured from nontreated hypertrophic scars, and cells at passages 4-6 were used for the experiments (photosensitizer dose 4 μg/ml,λ630 nm,pow er density 10 mw/cm2,energy fluence 2.5 J/cm2).Morphological and biochemical changes in fibroblasts were assessed by Hoechst 33258 staining and fluorescence microscopy. The rate of apoptotic or necrotic cells was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) through double staining of Annexin V -FITC and popodium iodide (PI),respectively. Results Marked morphological features of cell apoptosis were viewed under the fluorescent microscope through Hoechst 33258 staining. The analysis of FCM indica ted that the apoptotic rate was significantly increased after HMME PDT [(34.82 ± I.42) % vs (3.12±0.28) %,P<0.05],and apoptotic rate was higher than necrosis rate [(14.65±1.02) % vs (34.82±1.42) %,P<0.05].Conclusions Low level exposure to 630 nm PDT mediated by HMME appears to induce fibroblast apoptosis.

The Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. In recent years, many studies have revealed its prominent neuroprotection function. The active ingredients in Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis could protect the nervous system in a multi-path and multi-target manner. Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis shows the neuroprotective effect by resisting oxidation, scavenging free radicals, modulating neurotransmitters and their related receptors, regulating the inflammatory factors and their related pathways, attenuating neuron apoptosis, reducing intracellular Ca2+ overloads and mitigating neurodegeneration. In this paper, the authors summarized the advance in studies on neuroprotective mechanisms of Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis.
