Objective To study the effect of rhodiola crenulata compound on serum corticosterone and myocardial glucocorticoid receptor ( GR) in rats exposed high sustained +Gz.Methods Seventy-two healthy SD rats were randomly divided into six groups: blank control group, stress control group, +10 Gz stress group and low, medium, high dose drug group, with twelve rats in each.20 mL/kg menstruum was fed to each rat once per day for 14 days.Low, medium and high dose drug group were fed with rhodiola crenulata compound at doses of 0.75 g/kg, 1.5 g/kg and 3.0 g/kg respectively, the other three groups were fed with equal volume saline.Rats were exposed to high +Gz in 15th day.The concentration of corticosterone in the serum of each group rats was detected with ELISA. Western blot was used to detect the expressions of GR in the myocardium of each group rats .Results The content of corticosterone was significantly elevated in +10Gz stress group, while the expression of GR in the myocardium was markedly declined (P <0.01,P <0.05).However, compound preconditioning could decrease concentration of corticosterone in the serum and enhance the expression of GR in the myocardium from rats after +10 Gz exposure. The corticosterone concentration of medium and high dose drug groups was significantly lower and the level of GR expression in the myocardium was significantly higher than that of +10 Gz stress group ( P <0.05 , P <0.01 ) . Conclusion Rhodiola crenulata compound preconditioning could regulate the concentration of corticosterone in the serum and the level of GR expression in the myocardium of the rats exposed +10 Gz, which may be related with its protective effect on high sustained +Gz-induced injury of myocardium.

Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasound elastography score and strain ratio index in the differential diagnosis of thyroid solid nodules. Methods Eighty-six thyroid solid nodules of 69 patients were divided into 2 groups based on their pathologic results: benign nodules group and malignant nodules group.Compared with pathological results, each thyroid solid nodules' elastographic scores and strain ratio index were respectively analyzed. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of elasticity score and strain ratio index were calctlated. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn according to the results, to choose the best cut-off value. Results There were 67 nodules in benign nodules group and 19 nodules in malignant nodules group. The diameter of benign nodules was (2.05 ± 0.21)cm, malignant nodules was (1.62 ± 0.12)cm. There were no significant differences in the elasticity score and strain ratio index between benign and malignant nodules(t= - 1.736, P > 0.05). Malignant lesions had a higher score and strain ratio index(median 3, 3.97, respectively) than benign ones(median 2, 1.66,respectively, Z = - 5.290, - 5.450, all P < 0.05). If the cut-off value of the elastographic scores was equal or more than 3, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 84.2%(16/19) ,86.6%(58/67) and 86.0%(74/86), respectively, with an area under ROC curve of 0.854. If the cut-off value of the strain ratio index was equal or more than 2.50,the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 89.4%(17/19),86.6%(58/67) and 87.2%(75/86), respectively, with an area under ROC curve of 0.911. Conclusion Elasticity score and strain ratio index are helpful in differentiating benign and malignant lesions of thyroid with high clinical value.

Objective To investigate the effect of intermittent hypoxia (IH) with pulmonary emphysema on the ex-pression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α),Bax and Bcl-2, and the mechanism underlying the role of HIF-1αin he-patocyte apoptosis thereof. Methods Sixty rats were randomly divided into four groups: normal control group, rats were treated normally;IH group, rats were treated by 30 s nitrogen and then 90 s air, and rats were treated by from 9:00-17:00 daily;pulmonary emphysema group, rats were treated by smudging for half an hour, twice a day (8:00 and 18:00);IH with pul-monary emphysema group, rats were treated by 30 s nitrogen and then 90 s air from 9:00-17:00 daily. After exposure four-teen weeks, rats were killed. qRT-PCR assay was conducted to detect the expression of HIF-1α mRNA, Bax mRNA and Bcl-2 mRNA in live tissues. Results The expressions of HIF-1αmRNA, Bax mRNA and Bax/Bcl-2 were significantly higher in IH with pulmonary emphysema group than those in control group,IH group and pulmonary emphysema group (P<0.05). The expression level of Bcl-2 mRNA was significantly lower in IH with pulmonary emphysema group than that of con-trol group and pulmonary emphysema group (P < 0.05), but no significant difference compared with that of IH group (P >0.05). The levels of HIF-1αand Bax were positively correlated with the level of Bax/Bcl-2 (r=0.732 and 0.699),but the lev-els of HIF-1αand Bax were negatively correlated with the level of Bcl-2 (r=-0.705). Conclusion The expression levels of HIF-1αmRNA, Bax mRNA and Bcl-2 mRNA were over-regulated in hepatocytes induced by intermittent hypoxia with pul-monary emphysema. The HIF-1αexpression was correlated with Bax and Bcl-2, suggesting that HIF-1αmay promote the hepatocyte apoptosis through transcriptional co-activators, Bax and Bcl-2.
