OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic cefuroxime in the treatment of bacterial lower respiratory tract infections.METHODS:A randomized controlled clinical study of cefuroxime was conducted and the results were compared with these of zinacef. The duration of treatment was7~14days in both groups.RESULTS:The overall efficacy rates were90.00%for the cefuroxime group and87.50%for the zinacef group. The bacterial clearance rates were90.91%and94.12%,the adverse drug reaction rates were7.32%and9.76%respectively.There were no statistical differences between two groups in the overall efficacy rates, the bacterial clearance rates and the adverse drug reaction rates.CONCLUSION:Domestic cefuroxime appears to be a highly effective and safe agent for the treatment of bacterial lower respiratory tract infections.
