Objective To investigate the endovascular treatment of peripheral vascular anomaly in children and its efficacy. Methods Eighty-three children with peripheral vascular anomaly were treated via endovascular means. Before and during the endovascular operation, all the cases were diagnosed as follows: arteriovenous fistula in 23 cases, cirsoid angioma 32 and cavernous hemangioma 28. The endovascular approaches included:①transcatheter embolization using coils or gelfoam sponge;② transcatheter embolization combined with local cirrhosis agents treatment. Results Immediate angiography after embolization showed all the arteriovenous fistulas and hemangiomas were efficiently occluded and the clinical presentation and symptoms improved greatly. Follow-up one to three years after operation demonstrated 100% of efficacy and 68.7% curative rate with no complications. Conclusions Endovascular approach for peripheral vascular anomaly in children is a micro-invasive, safe and effective way.

Objective To investigate the safety treatment of partially embolizing spleenomegaly in children. Methods Forty two children aged 1-15 with spleenomegaly were treated through staged partial splenic embolization (PSE). The first embolized scope of spleen was 30%-40% with the second being 30%-40% at 1 or 2 months later in order to achieve the goal of getting rid of hypersplenia and improving the splenic function. Results The adverse effects of splenic embolisation were slight with short duration of fever and stomachache and with efficient control of hypersplenia and its correlative basic diseases except one case of splenic abscess. Conclusions Spleenomegaly in Children can be more safely and more efficiently cured through staged PSE.

Objective: To seek the optimal acupuncture time for primary dysmenorrhea and provide clinical basis for optimal acupuncture treatment protocol. Methods:A total of 90 eligible cases were randomly allocated into three groups, 30 cases in each group. Points Guanyuan (CV 4), bilateral Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) were selected for patients in all three groups, with a different treatment duration: 15 min in group A, 30 min in group B and 45 min in group C. Then the clinical efficacy in each group was evaluated by pain symptom scoring. Results:As for the pain symptom scores, there were statistically significant intra-group differences between before and after treatment in three groups (allP<0.05); coupled with statistically significant inter-group differences between group B and the other two groups (bothP<0.05). As for clinical efficacy, there were statistical differences between group B and the other two groups (bothP<0.05), indicating that 30 min of acupuncture is the optimal duration in the treatment of dysmenorrhea. Conclusion:With the same needling manipulation, 30 min of acupuncture treatment achieves a better efficacy for primary dysmenorrhea.

Fertilization is a crucial step for origin of life.During Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART),total fertilization failure is complex and unpredictable.Total fertilization failure may related to some abnormal cellular mechanistic events, such as:any stage of sperm and cumulus-oocyte-complexes penetration,sperm-zona pellucida binding / penetration,sperm-oocyte membrane binding, oocyte activation, sperm discondensation or pronuclear formation. Most of total fertilization failure could be solved by intracytoplasmic sperm injection. But oocytes of some patient still can't fertilize successfully, even though assisted oocyte activation be used.As for total fertilization failure patients in ART,combining the mature of oocyte, sperm quality and some trail to improve clinical protocol in later cycle may prevent failure to happen again.

Objective To analyze the clinical features of patients with open injuries combined with infections in Chinese Wenchuan earthquake and summarize the therapeutic experience. Methods An analysis was done on 54 patients with open injuries combined with infection transferred to our depart-ment from May 13, 2008 to June 10, 2008. Thorough debridement was performed based on general sup-porting management and anti-bacterial thempies done on the basis of results of bacteria culture and sus-ceptibility test. In the meantime, other managements including high-pressure oxygen therapy and external fixation were done for open fractures. Results Infection could be found in all open injuries, primarily combined infections with G+ coccus and G- bacillus or anaerobic. Moreover, most of the patients were infected by anaerobia. Of all, 1 patient with amputation received multiple debridement and repair because of severe infection of the amputation site and no death occurred. All patients recovered uneventfully, with sound wound healing, except for 2 patients. External fixation was stable and in good position. Conclu-sions The repeated and thorough debridement and the timely closure of wounds on the basis of energeti-cally anti-infection measures are key to diminishing the mortality rate and mutilation rate. Appropriate ad-junctive therapy can dramatically improve the curative effect.

OBJECTIVE:
To determine the regulation effect of bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) on the proliferation and differentiation of rat hepatic precursor cells.
METHODS:
We used Noggin (200 ng/mL) as the function blocking control of BMP-4, and the hepatic precursor cells of WB-F344 were treated with recombinant BMP-4 at 50 ng/mL at different time points. The proliferation of WB-F344 cells were tested by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) colorimetric assay. The ultrastructural characters of differentiated WB-F344 cells regulated by BMP-4 were observed under a transmission electron microscope. RT-PCR was used to examine mRNA expression of specific molecular markers for different cellular phenotypes potentially differentiated from the WB-F344 cells.
RESULTS:
At different time points, the absorbance values in the BMP-4 treatment groups were higher than those in the control groups of Noggin and blank treatment (P<0.01). The WB-F344 cells treated with BMP-4 exhibited typical ultrastructural characters of well-differentiated epithelial cells. The hepatocyte mRNA markers were more significantly promoted in the differentiated WB-F344 cells in the BMP-4 treatment group than those in the other 2 control groups.
CONCLUSION
BMP-4 can promote the proliferation and directional differentiation towards hepatocytes of rat hepatic precursor cells of WB-F344.

OBJECTIVE:
To determine the treatment effects of transplanted hepatic progenitor cells (WB-F344 cells) combined with heparin on the acute liver injury in SD rats.
METHODS:
A total of 2*10(7) hepatic stem cells (WB-F344) infected with GFP lentivirus and 8 μL heparin were transplanted through the spleen in SD rats with acute liver injury, which was induced by an intraperitoneal injection of CCl4. The liver and spleen tissues underwent fluorescence examination 1 day after the transplantation. The liver functions were tested, and the liver tissues were histopathologically examined on the 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 28th day of the cell transplantation.
RESULTS:
The transfected WB-F344 cells expressed GFP 3 days after the lentivirus infection and were found in the rat liver 1 day after the WB-F344 transplantation. The liver function and histopathological recovery of the liver tissues in the group of WB-F344 transplantation were better than those of the control group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
Transplantation of hepatic stem cells combined with heparin can promote the liver recovery in rats with acute liver injury induced by CCl4.
