BACKGROUND: Both hydroxyapatite (HA) and large diameter TiO2 nanotubes have excellent biocompatibility, but bone-forming ability of nano-HA (nHA) deposited large diameter TiO2 nanotubes is rarely reported.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the bone-forming ability of nHA/large-diameter TiO2 nanotube composite coating.METHODS: Large-diameter TiO2 nanotubes were prepared by anodic oxidation method, and then nHA was electrochemically deposited on the surface of TiO2 nanotubes. Preosteoblasts MC3T3-E1 were co-cultured with the nHA/large diameter TiO2 nanotube composite, pure titanium and TiO2 nanotube coatings, respectively. At 0.5, 1, 2 hours after culture, the initial cell adhesion was observed. At 1, 3, 5 day after culture, cell proliferation was assessed. At 2 days after culture, cell morphology was observed. At 3 and 7 days after osteogenic induction, intracellular alkaline phosphatase activity was detected. At 14 days after osteogenic induction, mineralization of extracellular matrix was detected.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) After 2 hours of culture, the number of adherent cells on the composite coating was significantly lower than that on the TiO2 nanotube coating (P < 0.05), but slightly higher than that on the pure titanium coating with no statistical difference. (2) After 1, 3, 5 days of culture, the cell proliferation on the composite coating was significantly lower than that on the TiO2 nanotube coating (P < 0.05), but slightly higher than that on the pure titanium with no statistical difference. (3) The cells on the pure titanium showed a spindle-shape, while those on the TiO2 nanotube coating processed filopodia. The cells on the composite coating showed polygonal shape with a larger number of filopodia. (4) The intracellular alkaline phosphatase activity of the composite coating group was significantly higher than that of the pure titanium group and TiO2 nanotube group. The trend of mineralization of extracellular matrix was ranked from high to low: the composite coating group > TiO2 nanotube group > pure titanium group. To conclude, the nHA/large diameter TiO2 nanotube composite coating not only has good biocompatibility, but also has the ideal ability to promote bone formation.

BACKGROUND:Grafts are often used to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in clinical practice, while different types of grafts affect postoperative knee function and the development of rehabilitation programs. OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively analyze the effects of different graft types on muscle strength, joint stability, functional activities, and return to sports in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. METHODS:Related studies were searched through PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane,CNKI,and WANFANG databases. The Chinese and English key words were"anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, autografts, allografts, artificial ligaments,bone-patellatendon-bone,quadriceps tendon autograft, hamstring tendon autograft, peroneus longus tendon autograft, rehabilitation, exercise, protocol, return to sport". RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Patients with bone-patellar tendon-bone grafts should strengthen centrifugal contraction exercises of quadriceps muscle, and pay attention to the recovery of quadriceps muscle endurance and explosive power in the later stage of rehabilitation.Compared with bone-patellar tendon-bone grafts and hamstring tendon grafts, significantly fewer patients with quadriceps tendon grafts met regression criteria within 5-8 months, and a longer training plan should be developed, with the training cycle lasting as long as possible to more than 3 years. The selection of hamstring tendon grafts should strengthen the hamstring muscle strength training under multiple angles, especially the cycle of bending the knee above 60° until at least 18 weeks after surgery.Patients who choose peroneus longus tendon graft should strengthen the muscle strength around the ankle, mainly the plantar muscle strength. In the selection of allograft, attention should be paid to the reduction of tension resistance of 20%after the graft is disinfected by low-dose radiation,so attention should be paid to knee stability training.Patients who choose artificial ligament grafts can gradually enhance quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength training within 3-6 weeks, pay attention to early proprioceptive exercises, and conduct targeted training on balance, jumping, and flexibility.

Objective:To explore the diagnosis, treatment and prognostic of pediatric intracranial atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor(AT/RT).Methods:A total of 15 pediatric patients with intracranial AT/RT were treated between January 2012 and June 2019 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed.Overall survival (OS) rate and progression free survival (PFS) rate were calculated by adopting Kaplan- Meier method. The differences between the 2 groups were tested by performing Log- rank method, and the prognostic factors were analyzed by COX regression. Results:There were 12 males and 3 females, with the median age of 5.5 years (ranging from 8 months to 17.1 years). All patients underwent surgical resection.Gross-total resection (GTR) was achieved in 10 cases and subtotal resection (STR) was carried out in 5 patients. The conducted treatments were as follows: surgery+ radiotherapy+ chemotherapy+ intrathecal injection in 6 cases, surgery+ chemotherapy+ intrathecal injection in 4 cases, surgery+ radiotherapy in 2 cases, and surgery alone in 3 cases.Until January 2020, the median survival time of all the 15 patients was 18 months (ranged 1-27 months), and the survival rate was 33.3%.The 1-year OS rate and PFS rate for all 15 cases were 71.5% and 49.7%, respectively. The 2-year OS rate and PFS rate were 17.9% and 0, respectively. Log- rank analyses revealed that the 1-year OS rates of children less than 3 years old and those older than 3 years were 87.5% and 57.1%, respectively ( χ2=6.057, P=0.014). The 1-year OS rates of children with GTR and those with STR were 90.0% and 40.0%, respectively ( χ2=6.057, P=0.014). The 1-year OS rates of children with tumor dissemination and those without tumor dissemination were 100.0% and 33.3%, respectively( χ2=9.865, P=0.002). The 1-year OS rates of children in the standard-risk group and those in the high-risk group were 88.9% and 41.7%, respectively ( χ2=5.111, P=0.024). COX regression analyses proved that age, the extent of tumor resection, tumor dissemination and risk stratification are independent risk factors for prognosis [hazard radio( HR)=3.411, 3.795, 5.245, 3.397; P=0.025, 0.011, 0.001, 0.017]. Conclusions:Pediatric intracranial AT/RT is rare. The preliminary diagnosis and prognosis are difficult and poor, respectively. The complete resection of tumors with maximal safety remains the primary treatment.Age, the extent of tumor resection, tumor dissemination and risk stratification are independent prognostic factors for AT/RT children.

Objective:To study the value hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion after ruptured and hemorrhage of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 53 patients with ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma treated in Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University from January 1, 2009 to January 1, 2019.Patients who underwent surgical resection combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion were included into the experimental group. Those who underwent surgical treatment only were included into the control group. The clinical data, postoperative hospital stay, complications, long-term tumor-free survival and overall survival were analyzed. Independent risk factors affecting prognosis were also determined. Results:Of the 33 patients in the experimental group, there were 27 males and 6 females, with a mean age ± s. d. being 50.49±11.59 years. There were 20 patients in the control group, including 17 males and 3 females, with a mean ± s. d. of 53.70±13.89 years. There were no significant differences in the length of postoperative hospital stay and complication rates between the two groups ( P>0.05). The tumor-free survival rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in overall survival rates between the two groups ( P>0.05). Cox multivariate analysis showed that histological classification [ HR(95% CI): 27.700(1.695-452.794); 42.754(2.091-874.034)] and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion [ HR(95% CI): 0.238(0.086-0.661); 0.205(0.069-0.611)] were independent risk factors affecting tumor-free survival and overall survival (all P<0.05). Conclusion:Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion after surgical resection for ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma is a safe and effective treatment.
