BACKGROUND:Lymph-targeted tracing and therapy based on carbon nanotubes have been one of the hottest researches on targeting tumor diagnosis and treatment. To evaluate the accumulation of carbon nanotubes in axil ary lymph node can provide experimental evidences for developing nano-tracers and drug carriers which are more lymph-specific and more biocompatible. OBJECTIVE:To study the accumulation of the intravenously injected carboxylated single-wal ed carbon nanotubes in axil ary lymph nodes of Sprague-Dawley rats, and to evaluate their effect on blood cel s. METHODS:Sixty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups. Rats in testing group were injected with carboxylated single-wal ed carbon nanotubes suspension (2 mg/kg), while those in control group were injected with 5%glucose solution (1 mL/kg), both through the tail vein, three times per week. Four periods of 7, 60, 90 and 120 days were set (the 120-day period referred to 90 days of administration fol owed by 30 days of drug withdrawal). At the end of each period, eight rats from each group were randomly picked out, to col ect blood samples via the abdominal aorta for blood routine test. Final y the axil ary lymph nodes were observed, and the lymph node samples of rats in the testing group were col ected and analyzed at 120 days by transmission electron microscope. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the control group, black staining of axil ary lymph nodes of rats in testing group was not obvious at the end of the 7-day period. However, with the increase of the dosing periods, the lymph nodes of the rats in the testing group became enlarged, firm and black stained, coupled with a significant rising in the percentage of blood neutrophils. After 30 days of drug withdrawal, the size of the rat axil ary lymph nodes was reduced and black staining partly faded, with the decreasing of blood neutrophil percentage. Under the transmission electron microscope, abundant carboxylated single-wal ed carbon nanotubes were uptaken by lymphocytes to form a large number of phagocytic vacuoles after drug withdrawal for 30 days. It indicates that the short-term tracing of rat axil ary lymph nodes by carboxylated single-wal ed carbon nanotubes injected through the tail vein is relatively weak, while the long-term intravenous injection can cause their accumulation in rat axil ary lymph nodes, coupled with the increase of neutrophils;after drug withdrawal, the carboxylated single-wal ed carbon nanotubes can be slowly cleared by the lymph nodes.

This study examined the mRNA expression of NALP3 in the spleen of the mice with hypersplenism due to portal hypertension (PH). The mouse hypersplenism models were established by oral administration of tetrachloromethane (2 mL/kg/week for 12 weeks by oral gavage). All the mice were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. The blood routine test was conducted, spleen index was calculated and spleen was histologically examined. Portal vein sera were taken for detection of the level of uric acid. The mRNA expressions of NALP3 and IL-1beta in the spleen were detected by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The results showed that the platelet count was significantly lower in the experimental group [(674+/-102)x10(9)/L] than in the control group [(1307+/-181)x10(9)/L] (P<0.05), while the spleen index was significantly higher [(9.83+/-1.36) mug/g] in the experimental group than in the control group [(4.11+/-0.47) mug/g] (P<0.05). The histopathological changes of spleen followed the pattern of congestive splenomegaly. No significant difference was found in the uric acid level in the portal vein between the control group and the experiment group. The mRNA expressions of NALP3 and IL-1beta were up-regulated significantly in the spleen in the experimental group as compared with those in the control group (P<0.05). It was concluded that NALP3 and IL-1beta may play important roles in the pathogenesis of hypersplenism.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2020;41(1):96-99
Objective:
To explore the correlation between pull-up ability and upper body composition of male college students in a college in Guangxi, and to provide scientific guidance for college students’ exercise.
Methods:
A total of 685 male college students were randomly selected from a college in Guangxi.Pull up tests were implemented according to the national physical health test standards. Measurements of muscle mass, fat mass, fat percentage, etc. of the upper limbs were conducted by using the Ogilvy Body Composition Meter (TANITA MC-180). Data entry and analysis were performed by using SPSS 23.0.
Results:
The pass rate of male college students in the region was 21.7%; There was a statistically significant difference in the fat mass and percentage of body fat between males with different pull-up ability (F=11.30,14.18,12.91,15.22,P<0.01).After controlling age, height, weight and BMI, partial correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the pull-up ability of male college students and the fat mass and limb fat rate of both upper limbs(r=-0.22, -0.33, -0.31, -0.38, P<0.01).
Conclusion
The ability of male students in Guangxi to pull up is needed to be improved. Pull-up exercises can reduce fat mass and fat percentage in the upper limbs and improve body composition.

Objective:To disclose the epidemiological characteristics of the first human case of H9N2 subtype avian influenza and genetic characteristics of hemagglutinin (HA) gene of H9N2 avian influenza virus in Jiangsu province. Methods:Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay was used to detect the nucleic acid of influenza virus A/B and various subtypes from throat swab specimens of patients with acute and severe respiratory infections of unknown cause. Sanger method was used to sequence the vial HA gene of H9N2 positive specimens. N-J phylogenetic tree of HA gene was constructed by using MEGA X software. Results:The first laboratory confirmed case of human infection with H9N2 avian influenza virus in Jiangsu province in March 2019 was reported by Suzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Sequence analysis of the HA gene showed that the A/Suzhou/S683/2019 (H9N2) strain belonged to Y280-like sub-lineage of the Eurasian lineage, which had 99.23% nucleic acid identity with A/chicken/Shanghai/S1171/2018 (H9N2) strain. The amino acid sequence of the HA protein cleavage site is PSRSSR↓GLF, and the key amino acid in receptor binding site shared Q226L mutation. The location of potential glycosylation sites of HA protein of A/Suzhou/S683/2019 (H9N2) have changed. Conclusions:The H9N2 avian influenza virus obtained from the first case in Jiangsu province has low pathogenicity, but it may have acquired part of the ability to adapt to human hosts.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between sit-and-reach and body composition of college students in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and differences between sexes. METHODS: Totally 2 175 students from a Guangxi university were randomly selected. Body composition was determined by the MC-180 body composition tester. The students were divided into four groups: ≤ 12.10 cm group,> 12.10-16.40 cm group,> 16.40-20.70 group and> 20.70 group according to quartile of sit-and-reach measured in accordance with the National Physical Health Test Standard. All data were processed by SPSS 22.0 software. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Sit-and-reach was significantly correlated with body mass index, percentage of body fat, fat-free mass index, upper limb lean mass and lower limb lean mass (P < 0.05), and percentage of body fat was negatively correlated with sit-and-reach (P < 0.05). The body mass index, fat-free mass index, upper limb lean mass and lower limb lean mass in the ≤ 12.10 cm group were significantly lower than those in the other groups. Fat-free mass index and upper limb lean mass were correlated with sit-and-reach in male college students (P < 0.05). The fat-free mass index and upper limb lean mass in the> 16.40-20.70 cm group were significantly higher than those in the ≤ 12.10 cm group. Therefore, there is a positive correlation between the flexibility and fat-free mass index and upper limb lean mass in college students.
