Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2017;35(5):385-390
Pachychoroid disease spectrum is a novel concept in ophthalmology upon the development of ocular diagnosis and treatment.Recent breakthroughs and advancements in OCT imaging technology such as enhanceddepth imaging spectral-domain OCT (EDI-OCT) and swept source OCT (SS-OCT) have led to improvements in scanning speed, depth, scanning mode and software. This allows better and more detailed visualization of more posterior and deeper structures such as choroid or sclera. The newly developed EDI-OCT and SS-OCT provide a new basis for the diagnosis and classification of the retinal choroidal diseases.Pachychoroid disease spectrum,a group of chronic persistent choroidal thickening associated with a similar clinical phenotype and pathogenesis of disease were named recently based on higher spatial resolution and more detailed choroidal imaging captured by EDI-OCT or SS-OCT.Ophthalmologists should pay more attentions to this new concept and its relative information. In this paper, the concept, pathogenesis, and phenotype of pachychoroid disease spectrum are emphasized.

Objective To test the hypothesis that the macular pigment may be a marker of foveal cone function and consequently the structural integrity of foveal cones. Methods Sixteen patients (32 eyes) diagnosed to have Stargardt dystrophy and three patients with full thickness macular holes by clinical criteria were studied with a scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) comparing argon laser blue and infra-red images for the presence or absence of macular pigment (MP) in the fovea. An C ++ computer based program was used to evaluate the density of MP. Eyes were graded into three categories: those without foveal macular pigment, those with partial pigment and those with normal amounts of macular pigment. These categories were compared with visual acuity determined by the Snellen chart. Results Thirteen eyes with a visual acuity of 20/200 or worse had no macular pigment in the fovea. Eleven eyes with visual acuity of 20/40 or better had a normal amount of macular pigment in the fovea and 1 eye had partial macular pigment. Eleven eyes with partial macular pigment had intermediary acuity value. Conclusions Foveal macular pigment is closely related to foveal cone acuity and therefore may be a marker for the presence of foveal cones. Infrared light is a sensitive indicator of early macular diseases

In terms of performance of piezoelectric micro pump, this paper explores the piezoelectric ceramic plate in different wave driven micro pump flow rate. The conclusion is that the square wave voltage gets the biggest micro pump velocity. The velocity and pressure of the micro pump is almost linear relationship, and having nothing to do with the different inner diameter pipes. The piezoelectric micro pump's stability is not good and exists attenuation.

Objective To evaluate total gastrectomy and regular lymph node dissection for the treatment of advanced cardiac cancer. Methods Three hundred and eighty-seven patients with advanced cardiac cancer underwent total gastrectomy D2+ procedure. The relationships between depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, the number of metastastic lymph nodes dissected and postoperative survival rate were analyzed. Results The 3-year and 5-year survival rates were 47.3% and 34.2% , respectively. Metastatic rate of N3 lymph node was 4. 8% and 15. 2% in advanced cardiac patients of PT3 and PT4, respectively. Survival rates significantly decreased along with the increase of lymph node metastasis. The 3-year and 5-year survival of patients who had less than 15 lymph nodes dissected was significantly poorer than those who had more than 15 lymph nodes dissected, respectively. The postoperative complication rate and mortality rate of the two groups were 14. 2% and 2. 52% , respectively. Conclution To improve the quality of life and survival rate, D2 + radical total gastrectomy should be performed for advanced cardiac cancer, and when indicated resection of spleen and/or body and tail of the pancreas should be performed.

This study was aimed to establish an HPLC method for the determination of liquiritin, isoliquiritin, liquiritigenin and glycyrrhizic acid in roots and knotty rhizome of Glycyrrhiza uralensis. The analysis was performed on a Diamonsil C18 column (250 mm í 4.6 mm, 5 μm) by using a gradient elution with mobile phase of water, phosphoric acid, acetonitrile at the flow rate of 1.0 mL·min-1. The detection wavelength was 276 nm (0~18 min), 360 nm (18~24 min), 276 nm(24~30 min), and 250 nm (30~65 min). The column temperature was set at 30℃. The results showed that the linear range of iquiritin, isoliquiritin, liquiritigenin, glycyrrhizic acid was 0 . 108 5~1 . 085、0 . 016 8~0 . 168、0 . 0049 4~0 . 049 4、0 . 407~4 . 07μg , respectively . The average recoveries of four constituents were 96.61%~100.89%, with RSD ≤ 0.81%. The contents of four constituents in roots of five batches were 0.513%, 0.072 9%, 0.048 4%, and 1.945%, respectively. Contents of four constituents in knotty rhizome from two batches were 0.456%, 0.063 6%, 0.036 2%, and 1.630%, respectively. It was concluded that there was good linear relationship between the response and concentration. Contents of four constituents in knotty rhizome were basically the same as those in the roots. The knotty rhizome can be used as raw material for the extraction of active components.
