Objective To investigate effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)treatment on pulmonary function, frequency of asthmatic attack, and quality of life in patients of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) accompanying with asthma. Methods Twenty-three patients of OSAS accompanying with mild-to-moderate asthma were studied. They were divided into two groups, gastroesophageal reflux ( GER ) group ( n = 9 ) and non-GER group ( n = 14 ), based GER questionnaire score equal to or greater than 12, or less than 12. Pulmonary function tests (PFTs), Epworth sleepy score (ESS), quality of life for obstructive sleep apnea (QOLAp) score, quality of life for asthma (QOLAs) score and polysomnography (PSG) were measured for all the patients before and after four-week CPAP, respectively. Results No significant difference in PFTs was revealed before and after four-week CPAP between the two groups. However, there was significant difference in scores of QOLAp, ESS and QOLAs before and after four-week CPAP treatment, ( 12. 8 ± 2. 8 ) and (4. 6 ± 0. 9), ( 5. 1 ± 0. 7 ) and (6.3 ±0.6), and (4. 1 ±0.5) and (6.3 ±0.5) in GER group, and (13.0 ±2.9) and (4.6 ± 1.1),(4.7±0.5) and (5.6±0.6), and (3.6±0.3) and (5.8 ±0.6) in non-GER group, respectively (P＜0. 01 or 0. 05). Frequencies of asthmatic attack and nocturnal asthmatic attack reduced to ( 1.7 ± 1.1 )episodes per week and (0. 7 ± 0. 3) episodes per week after four-week treatment from (2. 9 ± 2. 0) episodes per week and ( 1.4 ± 0. 8) episodes per week before treatment ( P ＜ 0. 05 ) in GER group, but no significant difference was found before and after treatment in non-GER group. Scores of QOLAs increased more significantly in GER group than that in non-GER group ( P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusion CPAP treatment can significantly improve quality of life, rather than pulmonary function, in patients of OSAS accompanying with asthma, especially in those with GER symptoms.

Objective To study the effect of hypothyroidism on oxidative stress status in developing rat brain and to further explore the mechanism of impaired brain development caused by hypothyroidism. Methods Perinatal hypothyroidism was induced by administering propylthiouracil(PTU) solution to the dams by gavage.The oxidative stress indexes were measured in brain homogenate of normal and hypothyroid pups which were sacrificed on the 21st d after birth. Results As compared to the control,the following indexes were found to be increased in the hypothyroid group: protein carbonyl contents,thiobarbital acid reactive substances,reduced glutathione,total antioxidative capacity,activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase(P0.05). Conclusion Hypothyroidism during rat brain development may cause oxidative stress,which may be related to the brain damage caused by hypothyroidism.

To enforce the application of medical techniques in the primary hospital so as to improve clinical quality and ensure clinical safety, we established the evaluation criteria for admittance of medical techniques class Ⅰ and the incentive system for new technique application. When both systems were applied, favorable results were obtained.

Objective To explore the methods of internal fixation for femoral neck fractures and evaluate the biomechanical characteristics of the interlocking expanding compressive screw (IECS)of Type HZS. Methods Based on the special biomechanical characteristics of the femoral neck fracture, the device of internal fixation was designed to consist of main screw, bifurcate screw, boost screw cap, washer, compressive screw cap, oblique interlocking screw and main screw cap. Its biomechanical performances were evaluated through comparison with those of the dynamic compressive screw (DCS), twin compressive screw (2CS) and three cannulated screws (3CS) respectively. Results The mechanical performances of the femoral neck fracture fixed with the interlocking expanding compressive screw were superior to those of the others in displacement ,axial and level stiffness, torsional strength and stiffness and terminal loading. Conclusion Interlocking expanding compressive screw can efficiently withstand the splitting, torsional, shearing, tensional and compressive forces in the fracture, and is simple, safe and easy to use. Objective To investigate the effects of benazepril on the expression of receptors for advanced glycation end-products(RAGE)in diabetic rat kidneys,and to explore its mechanisms of renal protection in diabetic rats. Methods Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into three groups(n=10 in each group): normal control group,diabetic control group and diabetic with benazepril group.Blood glucose,blood lipid,HbA1c,kidney to body weight ratio and 24 h urinary protein excretion were detected after 12 weeks.RAGE mRNA level was analyzed by quantitative RT-PCR. Results Compared with the normal control group,the blood glucose,HbA1c,triglyceride,total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in the diabetic control group and diabetic with benazepril group were significantly increased(P0.05).The kidney to body weight ratio,24 h urinary protein excretion and RAGE mRNA level in the diabetic with benazepril group were significantly higher than those in the normal control group(P

Objective To evaluate the control effect of comprehensive measures of schistosomiasis after its transmission in?terruption in Kaihua County,Zhejiang Province,so as to provide the references for further consolidation of schistosomiasis con?trol. Methods The data of Oncomelania hupensis snail survey and control,as well as environmental reform in Kaihua County were collected and analyzed from 1996 to 2015. Results From 1996 to 2015,totally 2 635 snail habitats and 102.75 hm2 area with snails were found,and 125.4 thousand snails were dissected and no one was schistosome infected. The accumulated snail control area was 4 932.98 hm2,and the area with snails was effectively reduced by the comprehensive control measures. Conclu?sion The schistosomiasis control effect could be consolidated by the comprehensive control measures emphasizing environmen?tal reconstruction,and the snail surveillance work still should be strengthened.

prognosis of patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (AUGIB). Methods A total of 130 patients with AUGIB in our hospital were enrolled in this study from August 2014 to August 2016 . Three kinds of scoring systems including Rockall, Blatchford and AIMS65 were used to evaluate the risk classification of the patients. Patients were followed up for 2 months. The incidence rates of re-bleeding and death within 2 months after admission were observed. Data of prognosis in patients with AUGIB were compared between the three scoring systems in the prognosis of patients with AUGIB, including the risk classification and the prediction accuracy of re-bleeding and death. Results There were no significant differences in the re-bleeding rate and fatality rate between the groups divided by Rockall and Blatchford scoring systems ( P>0.05). According to the grouping results of AIMS65 scoring system, the re-bleeding rate of low-risk group was lower than that in high risk group (1.45%vs. 13.11%, P=0.01), but there was no significant difference in fatality rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The values of area under the curve (AUC) of predicting re-bleeding rates by using Rockall, Blatchford and AIMS65 scoring systems were 0.6258, 0.6910, and 0.7241, and the values of AUC of predicting fatality rates were 0.7031, 0.7969, and 0.7031 by using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis. There were no significant differences between them (P>0.05). The values of AUC of predicting re-bleeding rates by using the risk grading calculation by Rockall, Blatchford and AIMS65 scoring systems were 0.6189, 0.6139 and 0.7254 (P>0.05). But the values of AUC of predicting fatality rates were 0.6211, 0.6641 and 0.7695 (P<0.01). Conclusion The operation method of AIMS65 scoring system is simple and convenient, which is applicable to a wide range of patients with AUGIB. In the prediction of re-bleeding and mortality, AIMS65 scoring system has high accuracy and stability, which is worthy of promoting in clinical application.

Objective:To study the influence of morphine on the expression of nestin in the ependymal epithelia,central gray and hippocampal formations in mice.Methods:Twenty health mice were evenly randomized into control group and experiment group.Mice in the control group were injected with normal saline(0.1 ml daily)and those in the experimental group were injected with morphine (0.1 ml,1 mg daily).Thirty days later,the mice brain samples were harvested and made into paraffin sections.Immumohistochemical ABC technique was used to observe the expression of nestin under light microscope.The images were analyzed with the image analytical system.Results:In the control group,the ependymal epithelia,the central gray,the periventricular gray substances and the hippocampal formations had weak expression of the nestin,with a mean gray scale of 150.98?13.31;there were 5 kinds of nestin-positive cells:(1) the basal cells of ependymal epithelium,(2)cells distributed in the periventricular gray substance and the deep lamella of central gray, (3)cells distributed in the superficial lamella of central gray,the subiculum,the parahippocampal gyrus and the cortex inⅡ,Ⅲlayers of the entorhinal area,(4)cells frequently seen in the rectum of midbrain and the subiculum,and(5)cells distributed in the tectum of midhrain,the hippocampus,gyrus dentatus,parahippocampal gyrus and the cortex in V layer of the entorhinal area;the density of nestin in the subiculum and entorhinal area was(7.20?1.23)mm~2.In the experiment group,the ependymal epithelia,the central gray,the periventricular gray substances and the hippocampal formations had positive expression of the nestin,with the mean gray scale being 133.03?22.28;the density of the above-mentioned 5 kinds of cells increased;the density of nestin in the subiculum and entorhinal area was(10.50?1.43)mm~2.The mean value of gray scale and nestin-positive neurons were significantly different between the 2 groups (P
