Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2009;18(11):1031-1033
Objective To build relationship model of personality, life style and mental health for medical students. Methods 869 medical students were surveyed with Eysenk Personality Questionnaire, Symptom Check List 90(SCL-90), common condition questionnaire, to describe the situation of medical students mental health and personality, and a relationship model was set up by structural equation modeling. Results The situation of mental health for medical students was well. Male students showed significantly higher lie than female students. The only children showed significant higher lie than those having siblings. Neuroticism, life style, lie, sleep time everyday, boarding and lodging in middle school, friends, only child, degree of parents attention had significant direct influence on mental health (β =0.508, 0.136, 0.100, 0.082, 0.076, -0.057, 0.057, 0.051 ). Neuroticism, friends and sleep time everyday affected mental health in an indirect way through life style (β = 0.044, - 0. 008, 0.007). Only child affected mental health in an indirect way through boarding and lodging in middle school (β = -0.026). Lie affected mental health in an indirect way through neuroticism (β =0. 195). Conclusion The important effects of personality, life style on mental health are further supported in this study.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of Escherichia coli pneumonia, the positive rate of extend-spectrumβ-lactamase (ESBLs) produced by Escherichia coli and antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli. Methods Three hundred and thirty-six infants with Escherichia coli pneumonia were divided into community acquired infection group and hos-pital acquired infection group from Jun 2003 to Jun 2013. The clinical data of those patients were collected and analyzed. The ESBLs were examined, and drug susceptibility results were analyzed. Results Infants under 6 months had higher infective rate of Escherichia coli. The Escherichia coli pneumonia had similar clinical manifestations as Gram negative bacterial pneumonia. ESBLs were found in most strains (58.3%, 196/336), positive rate of ESBLs of hospital acquired infection group (84.00%) was higher than that of community acquired infection group (50.96%) (χ2=26.17, P<0.05). There was no difference of ESBLs posi-tive rate between the community acquired infection groups during Jun 2003-May 2008 and those during Jun 2008-Jun 2013 (χ2=0.30, P>0.05). The ESBLs positive rate of hospital acquired infection group was significantly increased from 76.74%(Jun 2003-May 2008) to 93.75% (Jun 2008-Jun 2013) (χ2=3.95, P<0.05). The most sensitive antibiotic was carbapenem. Conclusions Escherichia coli pneumonia mainly occurs in infants, usually with severe clinical situations and more persistent. The hospital acquired infection is the high risk factor of acquiring ESBLs. Antibiotics should be prescribed depending on community acquired infection or hospital acquired infection.

Objective To investigate the correlation between serum glutamate levels and post-stroke depression (PSD). Methods The consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke were enroled. At 3 month after onset, the PSD diagnosis was conducted according to the American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th Edition) somatic disease caused mood disorder and Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) was used to evaluate the severity of depressive symptoms in patients with PSD. The demographics and baseline clinical data were compared and analyzed in the PSD group and the non-PSD group. Results A total of 177 patients were enroled in the study, including 55 in the PSD group and 122 in the non-PSD group. The age (64. 4 ± 7. 8 years vs. 60. 1 ± 11. 1 years; t = - 2. 575, P = 0. 012), NIHSS scores (median and interquartile: 6 [5 - 8] vs. 3 [2 - 5 ]; Z = - 5. 463, P = 0. 002 ), serum homocysteine (16. 9 ± 4. 9 μmol/L vs. 14. 3 ± 3. 9 μmol/L; t = - 3. 929, P = 0. 001 ), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (1. 0 [0. 8 - 1. 7] mg/L vs. 0. 4 [0. 7 - 1. 3] mg/L; Z = - 3. 439, P = 0. 002 ), glutamate levels (279 [205 - 345] μmol/L vs. 161 [110 - 209] μmol/L; Z = - 6. 172, P = 0. 001 ), as wel as the proportion of women (50. 9% vs. 34. 4% ; χ2 = 4. 308, P = 0. 038) in the PSD group were significantly higher than those in the non-PSD group, while the education level was significantly lower than that in the non-PSD group (χ2 = 9. 679, P = 0. 003). Spearman correlation analysis showed that serum glutamate levels were significant positive correlated with HAMD scores ( r = 0. 491, P < 0. 001 ). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the increased serum glutamate level (odd ratio 1. 016, 95% confidence interval 1. 010 - 1. 023; P = 0. 002) was an independent risk factor for PSD in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Conclusions The increased serum glutamate level may be an independent risk factor for PSD.

Aim To study the protective effects of dipfluzine against the whole cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury and its mechanisms. Methods Four-vessel occlusion method was used to make the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model. In early period of reperfusion, several including LDH,MDA,SOD and brain water content were tested. And in the late period of reperfusion, the delayed neuronal death and amnesia induced by reperfusion were studied. Results The contents of brain water and MDA were increased, and the activities of SOD and LDH were decreased after ischemia and reperfusion injury. The hippocampal structure and memory of rats were also destroyed in the delayed neuronal death.Dip reversed the changes obviously. It had antagonistic effect on brain edema and lipid oxidation,it also protected the neurons of hippocampal CA1 regions from ischemia injury. Conclusion Dip had protective effects on the early stage of reperfusion injury, and delayed neuronal death after the whole cerebral ischemia and reperfusion, which were possibly due to the antagonistic effect on lipid peroxidation.

Bromodomain and extra-terminal domain(BET)Bromodomain has become a new target for the treatment of cancers and other human disorders. Nowadays, several classes of its potent and selective small-molecule inhibitors have been identified, many of which are in clinical trials. Preclinical and clinical data have shown that BET Bromodomain inhibitors have good prospects. Howev-er,there are potential therapeutic deficiencies, such as drug resistance. At present, attempts are being made to develop BET Bromodo-main inhibitors and degraders based on polypharmacology, combining BET Bromodomain with other targets of different mechanisms. In this paper,small-molecule kinase/BET inhibitors,small-molecule histone deacetylases(HDAC)/BET inhibitors and BET protein degraders are reviewed, which may provide guidance for further research on BET protein.
