3.Advanced liposuction technologies and their potential application in the isolation of adipose-derived stem cells
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(1):131-136
BACKGROUND:Currently, cosmetic liposuction has developed rapidly, but the liposuction for the isolation of adipose-derived stem cells has not been reported.
OBJECTIVE:By evaluating the quantity and viability of stromal vascular fraction, adipocytes and adipose-derived stem cells obtained from different types of liposuctions, to find the advanced liposuction procedures that are most suitable for use in preparation, preservation and clinical application of adipose-derived stem cells.
METHODS:Authors retrieved PubMed database, NIH clinical trial databaseand CNKI ful text database for relevant articles using the key words of“adipose-derived stem cells, ADSCs, liposuction, SAL, UAL, PAL, WAL”in English and Chinese, respectively. After eliminating the objective-independent articles and repeating reviews, 50 papers were included for further analysis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Suction-assisted liposuction (SAL), ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), power-assisted liposuction (PAL) and water-assisted liposuction (WAL) are four major types of fat-harvesting technologies that can possibly be applied for adipose-derived stem cells isolation. Accumulative evidence suggests that these advanced liposuctions can obtain high quality of adipose tissue/cells, which are good enough for autologous fat grafting. Adipose-derived stem cells that are isolated from lipoaspirate by WAL, SAL and UAL, can be used as autologous cel-assisted lipotransfer and regenerative therapy. In summary, although each of these four types of liposuction technologies has its own advantages and is feasible to be used as autologous fat grafting, systematic comparative studies for viability, chromosome stability and differentiation potentials of adipose-derived stem cells isolated using each col ecting method are necessary in order to confirm the future perspectives in adipose-derived stem cells isolation, banking and regenerative repair.

6.Relationship of tranexamic acid therapy duration with hidden blood loss after total hip arthroplasty
Chinese Journal of Trauma 2013;(6):541-544
Objective To assess the impact of tranexamic acid on visible and hidden blood loss after the preliminary unilateral total hip arthtoplasty (THA).Methods The study involved 60 patients who received primary unilateral THA due to femoral neck fracture from March 2010 to September 2011.They were 18 males and 42 females,at 58 to 86 years of age (average 74.5 years). They were divided into Group A (n =20),not given tranexamic acid,Group B (n =20),given tranexamic acid in operation,Group C (n =20),given tranexamic acid at preoperative one hour according to stratified random method.Total red blood cell loss, visible red blood cell loss, and hidden red blood cell loss in each group were calculated. Results Visible red blood cell loss in Groups A,B,and C was (95.4 ± 17.7) ml,(45.5 ± 11.5) rnl,and (45.3 ± 8.4) ml respectively. Moreover, difference of visible red blood cell loss was significant between Groups A and B (P < 0.05),but insignificant between Groups B and C (P > 0.05).Hidden red blood cell loss in Groups A,B,and C was (322.4 ± 57.7) ml,(203.8 ±46.6) ml,and (137.6 ± 34.7) ml respectively, with significant difference between Groups A and B (P<0.05) and between Groups B and C (P<0.05).Conclusions Tranexamic acid reduces the visible and hidden blood loss in primary unilateral THA significantly. While tranexamic acid administered at preoperative one hour gains advantage of less hidden blood loss over the intraoperative administration.

8.Multidrug resistance-associated proteins and their roles in multidrug resistance.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2011;46(5):479-86
Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a major impediment to the success of cancer chemotherapy. Multidrug resistance-associated proteins (MRPs) play an important role in the process of MDR. As an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, MRPs are selective and specific drug efflux pumps. In this paper, physiological characteristics, structural characteristics and resistance profile of MRPs and the associated reversal studies are reviewed.
9.The role of intraoperatve radiotherapy in the management of breast cancer
China Oncology 2013;(8):590-595
Breast cancer is the most common disease in women worldwide, which not only threatened the women’s survival time, but also inlfuenced their quality of life as well. Within this challenge, it’s important to optimize the current multidisciplinary treatment stratagem for breast cancer. Radiotherapy is one of the most important treatment modality for patients with breast cancer, with the trend to shrink the irradiated volume and shorten the total fraction times in recent years. Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) as a fast and convenient procedure has the ability to deliver a high, single-fraction radiation dose to tumor beds with minimal exposure of surrounding tissues (lung, heart, etc.), which could be displaced or shielded right after the tumor removal during the surgical procedure. Right now, IORT has been either integrated as a boost technique in multimodal approaches using postoperative EBRT in the treatment of early breast cancer patients undergoing breast conservation surgery or used as a single dose accelerated partial breast irradiation technique for these patients. This review discussed the rationale of IORT, the beneifts and limitations of IORT, the indication and the clinical results of this procedure, including treatment related side-effects as well in order to provide the preliminary evidence based approach for early breast cancer patients.
10.Yang Lishan’s Understanding of Latent Evils
Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2015;(7):534-536
[Objectives]To extract Yang Lishan’s description of latent evils ,summarize his arguments, and provide reference for exploring his academic ideology further. [Methods] Use the literature methodology, take“latent evils”and“pestilential pathogen”as keywords, retrieve the related description in Yang Lishan’s book, summarize his main opinions on latent evils. [Results] Yang Lishan wholly refused the theory of latent cold evil turning into pathogenic warm, and he believed that the cause of latent evils is pestilential pathogen, thereby distinguishes warm disease from exogenous febrile disease on etiology level. He described the disease’s quality, afferent pathway, hiding spot, the way out, therapeutic method, prescription and recuperation in details, which are mature enough to form a complete theoretical system. The prescription Sheng Jiang Powder represents experiment with the thought of treating pestilential pathogen with drugs and special medicine for special disease, which makes the etiology of pestilential pathogen to have real directive value. [Conclusion] Yang Lishan’s theory of latent evils has implications in treatment and prevention of epidemic diseases.
