1.Expression of activator protein-1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with dermatomyositis and glucocorticoid effect on the expression
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2011;44(12):889-890
Objective To investigate the expression of activator protein-1 (AP-1) in PBMCs from patients with dermatomyositis (DM) and glucocorticoid effect on the expression. Methods PBMCs were isolated from 15 normal human controls and 20 patients (including 12 patients with primary DM who had never received glucocorticoid treatment and 8 patients with recurrent DM who had stopped glucocorticoid treatment for more than 1 month),and classified into two parts:one was cultured in RPMI 1640 medium with dexamethasone of 80 μmol/L and 10% calf serum for 48 hours, and the other was frozen at -80 ℃ and reserved.Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) was carried out to detect the activity of AP-1 in these cells. Results The expression (grayscale area) of AP-1 in the PBMCs from the normal controls was 4.93 ± 0.15 mm2.A significant decrease was induced by the treatment with dexamethasone in the expression (grayscale area) of AP-1 from PBMCs of patients with primary DM and those with recurrent DM (5.59 ± 0.39 vs.30.23 ± 0.49 mm2,5.69 ± 0.39 vs.34.79 ± 0.61 mm2,F =13812.64,P < 0.01 ).The activity of AP-1 was statistically higher in the PBMCs from patients with recurrent DM than in those from patients with primary DM before the treatment with dexamethasone (P < 0.01 ).Conclusions The enhanced activity of AP-1 may be an important factor inducing the inflammatory reaction in and recurrence of DM.Glucocorticoids may suppress the AP-1 activity to a certain degree.

Objective To construct a scientific and objective assessment to value nurse′s ability of scientific research in order to provide an objective unified standard and operable method to value nurse′s ability of scientific research and provide a standard for medical institutions to select nurses of scientific research. Methods After searching literatures and interviewing 7 experts, Delphi method was used to construct primary variables of nurse′s ability of scientific research. Then a second interview was given to each of 18 experts. The variables were weighted using analytic hierarchy process. Results Variables to assess nurse′s ability of scientific research included 2 first grade indices, 9 second grade indices and 35 third grade indices. Questionnaire return rates for two rounds of interviews were 84.00%(21/25) and 85.71%(18/21), respectively. Degree of authority Cr was 0.938. Scores of variables′importance ranged at 4.06-4.96. Ratios of full scores ranged at 33.33%-94.44%. Variable coefficients ranged at 0.05-0.25. The weight coefficients of 3 first grade indices (scientific research accumulation, explicit ability of scientific research, and intrinsic ability of scientific research) were 0.475 and 0.525, respectively. Conclusions The nurse′s ability of scientific research assessment system based on Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process is scientific and objective. This system combines quantitative and qualitative variables. It thus can calculate the ability of nurse′s scientific research according to the three grade indices. It is operable to be used to assess the ability of nurse′s scientific research.

Objective To investigate the principal indicators of self-care ability in activities of daily living for the persons with physical disability. Methods Persons with physical disability were asked to select the top 3 items out of 27 items of activities of daily living in 3 levels. Results A total of 1960 questionnaires were send out, and 1862 were returned. For all the subjects, the items related with personal hygiene, such as toileting, self-cleaning and bathing, were selected 899 times (16.1%). The items related with personal health, as visiting community clinics and community exercising, were selected 570 times (10.2%). The items related with social interaction, as making a telephone and chatting, were selected 500 times (9.0%). For the persons with physical disability of first grade, the major items most selected were eating, entertaining, self-cleaning and transferring; and self-cleaning and housework for those of second grade; self-cleaning, community activities and housework for those of third grade; and community and interaction for those of fourth grade. Conclusion The persons with physical disability mostly focused on the activities related with personal hygiene, health and social interaction, and varied with the severity of disability, from self-cleaning to housework and social participation.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2009;26(5):947-952
In this paper a new super-resolution image reconstruction algorithm was proposed. With the improvement of the classical projection onto convex sets (POCS) algorithm, as ground work, and with the combined use of POCS and wavelet fusion, a high resolution CT image was restored by using a group of low resolution CT images. The experimental results showed: the proposed algorithm improves the ability of fusing different information, the detail of the image is more prominent, and the image quality is better.

Objective To indentify the cognitive status of Chinese patients to acne and the influencing factors to theirs' cognitive status,so as to provide solid evidences for the prevention and treatment of acne. Methods A self-designed questionnaire was made to conduct this survey of 16,156 acne patients, who seeked to the treatment in the dermatological departments from 112 hospitals in China. The survey consisted of several parts, including the general status of patients, the patients' cognition of occurrence, development and risk factors of acne, whether the first choice was seeking treatment at the hospital when the patients had acne and the condition of selection of skin care products. The factors were analyzed, which could impact the cognition of the patients' behavior of treatment, how did the patients' cognition to influence their medical behavior and skin care as well as the consistency of assessment of the severity of acne by doctors and patients themselves. Results The acne patients studied had the best knowledge of "acne is a skin disease","it not only occurs in the period of adolescence" and "the disease can be prevented and cured",which accordingly accounted for 80.65%,69.16% and 65.49% of the total patients respectively. However, the awareness of acne patients to heredity, high sugar and dairy products as risk factors for acne was insufficient, which accounted for 48.72%,42.40% and 18.25% of the total patients, respectively.Gender, age, educational level, occupation and health knowledge were the main factors affecting the cognitive level of patients;the survey also found that men, patient with educational level of junior high or even lower educational condition, occupation of labor workers or farmers and patients were lack of health education with poor knowledge of the genetics and dietary were risk factors for acne;patients with age over 36 years or with mild illness had poor knowledge of dietary risk factors for acne;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The analysis of the influence of cognitive status on medical treatment behavior and skin care showed that the better the cognition, the higher the probability of patients would choose medical treatment as the first choice as well as choosing functional skin care products;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The consistency of assessment of the severity of acne by doctors and patients was poor (Kappa value <0.4),and the assessment of severity of acne by patients was more serious than doctors' assessment. Conclusions Patient's cognitive status will affect their medical behavior and skin care, and there is also a phenomenon that patients have a more serious assessment of their acne condition. It is suggested that health education for acne patients should be strengthened in clinical medicine so as to improve their knowledge of acne as well as preventing from acne effectively.
