Objective To investigate human papilloma virus(HPV) infection in normal endometrium, atypi-cal hyperplasia of endometrium and endometrial carcinoma. Methods By the nucleic acid hybridization,we detected 28 pairs of endometrial carcinomas, 21 pairs of atypical hyperplasia of endometrium. Normal endometrium from 16 pa-tients with uterine myomas were as control. Results HPV16/18 DNA was detected in 25 endometrial carcinoma and 2 atypical hyperplasia of endometrium and 1 normal endometrium. Conclusions Endometrial carcinoma HPV16/18 DNA were significantly higher than those infected with atypical endometrial hyperplasia and normal endometrium. Note the occurrence of endometrial cancer, the development may be associated with HPV infection.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of health management on quality of life of hypertensive patients living in underdeveloped rural regions. Methods Minqin County of Gansu Province was taken as research field, and health education covered all the population. Individual follow-up was adopted by quasi-experiment,and SF-8 scale was used to evaluate the change of scores of quality of life at baseline and the end of the study. Results The score of various dimension of quality life of interventive group showed a significant decrease at the end of follow-up ( P < 0. 05) , and the net score of general health status was 10. 92,the net score of impact to social role exerted by physical function was 9. 59,and the net score of social function was 4.61. Moreover, there was statistical difference between the intervention group and the control group for their quality of life(P <0. 05) , which showed in detail that each dimension of quality of life of the intervention group had higher score than that of the control group, after adjusting baseline difference by analysis of covariance. Conclusions All these results suggest that the active screening, following up and health education, conducted by the primary health care staff of township hospitals, under the idea of health management, can improve the quality of life of hypertension patients effectively in the rural area of underdeveloped region.

Objective To investigate the possible association of HLA-DQ alleles with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) caused by Chlamydia trachomatis in Han nationality in Northern China. Methods Thirty five Han Chinese patients with PID caused by Chlamydia trachomatis and 98 unrelated healthy individuals from the same area were genotyped for HLA-DQ gene alleles by the PCR-sequence specific oligonucleotide (SSO) method. Results Compared with the healthy controls, the frequencies of HLA-DQA1*0501 and HLA-DQB1*0301 allele were significantly increased and also associated with the antibody response to Chlamydia trachomatis heat-shock protein 60 (CHSP60). Conclusions These results may provide clues to reveal the susceptibility gene of chlamydial pelvic inflammatory disease in China and the immunogenetic mechanisms of the disease.

Purpose To investigate the gene expression and significance ofβ-catenin, Cyclin D1 and Notch1 in primary breast cancer stem cells ( BCSC) and matched lymph node metastasis stem cells. Methods 30 cases of breast invasive ductal carcinoma and matched metastasis lymph nodes were made into single cell suspensions, then BCSC were separated from them by immunomagnetic sor-ting. β-catenin, Cyclin D1 and Notch1 gene expressions of Wnt, Notch signaling pathway were detected by real time PCR. ResultsThe expression of β-catenin in primary BCSC and matched lymph nodes metastasis stem cells had statistically no differences ( P >0.05), while the expression of Cyclin D1 and Notch1 in matched lymph nodes metastasis stem cells were significantly higher than the expression in primary BCSC (P<0.01, respectively). Conclusion Compared with the primary cancer stem cells, Cyclin D1 and Notch1 activation in metastasis cancer stem cells are in higher level, which leades to a higher capability of invasion and metastasis, which may be a new therapeutic target.

ObjectiveTo identify the influence of cholesterol on insulin-secreting cells. Methods MIN6 mouse insulin cells were cultured in vitro. After confluence of cells, on one hand, free cholesterol in series concentrations was added to cultu re medium to act for 24 hours, and on the other hand, free cholesterol in same c oncentration was added to culture medium to act for different periods. MTT test was used to evaluate the viability of MIN6 cells.Results25μmol/L free cholesterol significantly decreased the viability of MIN6 c ells after 24 hours and 100μmol/L free cholesterol significantly decreased the viability of MIN6 cells after 12 hours and induced cells death after 24 hours. Conclusions Free cholesterol decreases viability of MIN6 cells in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner, and it is indicated that elevated free cholesterol concentration in blood may be one factor involved in the dysfunction of pancreatic β-cells.

AIM: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and tumor necrsis factor-alpha (TNF-?) in synovium of rats with adjuvant arthritis (AA) and the relationship between the pathological score and the expression of VEGF and TNF-? protein. METHODS: AA was produced in Wistar rats by inoculating complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA). The arthral pathological score was calculated, production of VEGF and TNF-? protein were assayed by histoimmunochemical staining at different stage after CFA inoculation. RESULTS: In AA group, the pathological score and expression of VEGF protein in synovium increased significantly (P

This study was aimed to apply the electronic nose (E-nose) in the research of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The discussion was made on difficulties of using E-nose. The solution plan was proposed and the discrimination model was established. It provided a simple, rapid and effective analysi method in the identification of TCM. It also provided new ideas for the research and application of gas sensor arrays. E-nose was used in the ex-traction of TCM scent characteristics. Based on ion mobility spectrometry of MOS sensor, the fingerprint of TCM scent was established. The maximum response value of the sensor was used as analysis index. According to the diffi-culties of identification, two solution plans were proposed. Firstly, different detectors were employed to complete the classification. Secondly, radial basis function (RBF) and random forests (RF) were combined and then a cascade classifier was constructed in order to achieve the maximum of information obtained in conditions where the number of measurements, metal oxide semiconductor sensors in E-nose was limited. The results showed that both plans were accurate and practical with relatively high upper correct judge rate and better cross-validation (The highest upper correct judge rates were 95% and 100%, 96% and 80%, respectively). It was concluded that this study firstly ap-plied cascade classifier in the establishment of TCM identification by E-nose. With limited amount of sensors, the maximum information was received through data mining. Using E-nose in the identification of TCM was rapid and accurate. The established pattern recognition method was maneuverable with accurate identification rate and stability compared to conventional sensory identification method. It provided a simple and rapid analysis method for the iden-tification of TCM.
