1.Effects of hemin on the expression of hemeoxygenase in human umbilical vein endothelial cells
Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(02):-
Objective To observe the effects of hemin on the expression of hemeoxygenase(HO) on the human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Methods The hemin and zinc protoporphyrin-Ⅸ were added in the cultured endothelial cells to induce and inhibit the expression of HO-1,respectively.The expressions of HO-1 and HO-2 mRNA were detected using reverse transcription polymerase chain(RT-PCR) and the relative amount of CO released into the media was quantitated as carboxyhemoglobin(COHb) by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The proliferation of endothelial cells was detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium test(MTT).Results The expression of HO protein was mainly detected in the cytoplasm of endothelial cell. The expression of HO-1 mRNA in endothelial cell and the amount of COHb in the media increased significantly with the treatment of hemin. Conclusion The expression of HO-1 and the increase of endogenous CO are the molecular bases of the proliferation of endothelial cells, and the HO/CO system may play an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases.

Objective To analyze and sort the character of symptom and pathology of 223 HIV/AIDS patients in Yunnan Provine. Methods Sort the clinical periods into groups subject to 223 HIV/AIDS patients who voluntarily accept the consultations and treatments for the first try in Yunnan province, then observe their tongue-appearance accordingly. Results By separately observing the color, shape and aspect of the tongue and tongue-fur which belongs to patient during AIDS period and asymptomatic period, discovered that the pathological tongue-fur appearance of all clinical periods trends to greasy, thereinto, in period of AIDS, 47.45% were white-greasy, 16.06% were yellow-greasy, 8.02% were yellow and thin. In terms of color of tongue, 46.71% of the total samples were light pink and white, 32.12% were red, and 21.17% were purple and gore. In period of asymptomatic, most of the tongue-appearance was light pink and thin white, which obviously exceeded the AIDS period. It indicates that the higher level of immunity, the more normal appearance of tongue can be expected. Group A (200≤CD4

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(04):-
From a study of the experimental riboflavin depletion in rats, it was demonstrated that the activation coefficients (AC) of the blood glutath-ione reductase (BGR) could be used to assess the riboflavin nutritional status of the animal. One week after deficiency the AC values were elevated, while after repletion of riboflavin they returned to normal. The change of AC values appeared sooner than that of daily excretions of riboflavin in urine. So AC value of BGR seemed to be a sensitive index in detecting early riboflavin deficiency. The method of the determination of AC value of BGR was modified so that only 0.02 ml. of whole blood was needed. It is rather convenient when used in field nutritional surveys.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
In simplifying the method of determination of activation coefficients (AC) of blood glutathione reductase (BGR), we used saponin solution to prepare blood hemolysate instead of repeated freezing and thawing, thus the time of estimation was shortened. 5, 5'-Dithio-bis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) was used to determine the reduced glutathione (GSH), the end product of the NADPH-dependent glutathione reductase reaction on the substrate, oxidized glutathione (GSSG), by means of a photoelectric colorimeter instead of alloxan and an ultra-violet spectrophotometer. From the data obtained in animals and men, the AC values determined by the two methods actually showed no difference.50 male rats, weighing 65-75 grams, were divided from the same litters into 6 groups, namely, the deficient, 2, 5, 10, 30?g and the normal group. The experimental period was 9 weeks. According to the growth weights, the riboflavin contents of urine and liver of the animals, the riboflavin nutritional status of different groups was evaluated. Referring to the corresponding AC values of all groups at the 9th week, the standards of AC values for assessing ribcflavin nutriture could be defined as: 80 severely deficient.

Chinese Journal of Sports Medicine 1982;0(02):-
A field study on 24 weigbt--lifters and an experiment on rats imitating kuman acute food restrictionwere done in order to find out the metabolism of water and electrolytes during the acute weight-reductionperiod and the effect of appropriate supplementation. The results showed that food restriction caused very significant loss of the water and electrolytes withsigns of muscle cramp, dehydration, ketonuria etc. The experimental results in rats were observed duringfood restriction as following: 1. Serum potham and sodium decreased and the serum chloride and magnesium increased significantly. 2. Potassium and sodium contents of cardiac muscle were significantly lower than those of the control group, but potassium content of skeletal muscles was higber. 3. Blood lactic acid (3 minutes after running on a treadmill for half an hour ) was higber than thatbefote food restriction. Supplementation of appropriate minerals is beneficial to correct the above changes and keep the athletesfit and in good form.
