The performance appraisal system of medical institutions serves as the cornerstone for hospital management. Thanks to the grow-th of information technology, information platform has grown into an indispensable tool for performance appraisal in hospitals as well. This paper focuses on the design and application of such a platform for performance appraisal, as well as the innovations on the appraisal contents and forms, setup and control methods for appraisal indicators, and the achievements made with such a platform.

Objective To study the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) combined with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT) for inoperable primary liver cancer. Methods Ninety-six such patients were prospectively randomized to TACE therapy alone group(TACE group-,47 patients) and TACE+3DCRT group(combined group-,49 patients). Results The overall 1-,2-,3-year survival rate was 82%,63%,43% in the combined group. It was 55%,28%,15% in the TACE group. The difference between the two groups was significant(P0.05).Conclusion Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy is more effective than transcatheter arterial chemoembolization therapy alone for inoperable primary liver cancer, without inflicting more treatment-related toxicities.

Objective: To investigate the expression changes of Bcl-2-associated athanogene 1(BAG-1) and its regulatory effect on the glucocorticoid receptor(GR) activity in rat alveolar macrophages in conditions of cell inflammation and glucocorticoid therapy. Methods: The expression changes of BAG-1 were detected by Western blot after lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and Dexamethasone(Dex) treatment of rat alveolar macrophages(AMs),the interaction between BAG-1 and GR determined by immune coprecipitation experiment, and the transcriptional activation of GR measured by relative luciferase activity assay. Results:After LPS and Dex treatment, the expression of BAG-1L in total protein increased but that of BAG-1S remained changed,BAG-1L rather than BAG-1S was detected in nuclear protein and its expression increased gradually within 24 hours, the interaction between BAG-1L and GR was observed in nucleoli, and the transcriptional activation of GR decreased, with a negative correlation between BAG-1L expression and GR activity. Conclusion:LPS and Dex acting on rat alveolar macrophages, the expression of BAG-1L increases, which, coupled with GR,translocates into nucleoli and inhibits GR activity. This might be the important mechanism that underlies glucocorticoid resistance in inflammation.

Chronic joint pain due to loss of cartilage function, degradation of subchondral bone, and related conditions are common plights of an arthritis patient.Antioxidant compounds could solve the problems in arthritic condition. The objective of this study was to evaluate the anti-arthritic activity of D-carvone against complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced arthritis in rats. D-carvone was orally administered for 25 days at the doses of 30 and 60 mg/kg against CFA-induced arthritic rats. Changes in body weight, paw swelling, organ index, hematological parameters, oxidative stress markers, inflammatory cytokines, and histopathology were recorded.Oral treatment of D-carvone significantly improved the body weight, reduced the paw swelling, edema formation, and organ index in arthritic rats. The levels of white blood cells were reduced, red blood cells and hemoglobin levels were improved in D-carvone treated arthritic rats. Lipid peroxidation levels were lowered whereas enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants were significantly elevated by D-carvone administration against arthritic rats. D-carvone significantly modulated inflammatory cytokine levels and improved the ankle joint pathology against CFA-induced arthritic inflammation. In conclusion, D-carvone proved significant anti-arthritic activity against CFA-induced arthritis in rats.

Objective To develop a new type of electric stapler, so as to solve the problems of insufficient rotation angle, inconvenient operation and difficulty in controlling the pressing strength of existing products. Methods An electric stapler was designed and manufactured. The motion trajectory curve of the prototype was measured by using the three-coordinate imaging instrument to build functional test platform of the prototype, and the goodness of fit was used to evaluate consistency between the theoretical curve and the measured curve. The small intestine tissues of fresh pig were anastomosed at different bending angles of the front end, and the forming rate of the anastomotic stoma was measured. Results The goodness of fit between the test curve and the theoretical curve for both turning motion and shooting motion was ideal, while the goodness of fit between the test curve and the theoretical curve for pressing motion was not ideal when the turning joint was bent at 0°-30°, and was ideal when it was bent at 45°-60°. In performance test, the deformity rate of the nail was smaller than 1.14%, indicating that the bending angle had no significant impacts on the anastomotic effect. Conclusions The kinematics curves of shooting motion and turning motion are consistent with the theoretical curves. The pressing motion curves fluctuate at different bending angles, which will not affect the anastomotic effect, and the effect of the electric stapler meets the clinical requirements.
