Adrenomedullin is a vasodilative peptide found in 1993. It has been proved that proadrenomedullin can be divided into 4 peptides by endoenzyme. Proadrenomedullin N terminal 20 peptide (PAMP) is one of them. PAMP has many functions on cardiovascular physiology. But so far the relationship between PAMP and cardiovascular diseases has not been found. In this study its plasma levels in the patients with essential hypertension(EH) and heart failure(HF) were investigated with its pathophysiological effect discussed. The plasma levels of PAMP, endothilin(ET), Angiotension II(AT II) were measured with RIA, and norepinephrine(NE), epinephrine(E) were measured with HPLC. the plasma level of PAMP in the control group was 18 42?2 33ng/L, and was 1 62 times higher in EH group than in the control group, and was 1 53 times higher in HF group as compared with the control group respectively ( P

Objectives:To examine the effect of chloride blocker (NPPB and tamoxifen)on volume sensitive chloride channels in mouse cardiac ventricular myocytes. Methods:Isolated mouse cardiac ventricular myocytes were subjected to whole cell patch clamp to record the hypotonicity activated chloride currents. Results:When the myocytes were exposed to hypotonic solution, an obvious whole cell currents were activated. The currents were inhibited by extracellular NPPB reversibly and significantly. The specific blocker for volume sensitive chloride channel , tamoxifen (50 ?mol/L), could apparently block the activity of this channel in a voltage dependent manner. Conclusions:Mouse cardiac ventricular myocytes process volume sensitive chloride channel which is sensitive to NPPB and tamoxifen.

Methods One hundred and twenty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:the con-trol group(group A),the NPE group(group B),the Propranolol treatment group(group C)and the Phentolamine treatment group(group D),30 cases in each group. Diffuse brain injury was induced in the latter 3 groups. The lung wet/ dry ratio was calculated. HE staining was used to measure the histological changes in the lung tissues. The levels of neuropeptide Y(NPY)and substance P(SP)in the serum and the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)were detected by enzyme - linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The expressions of NPY and SP in the lung tissues were demonstra-ted by immunohistochemical staining,and immunohistochemical scores(IHS)were measured after scarifying the ani-mals at different time points(0. 5,6. 0 and 24. 0 h after injury). Results Compared with group A,water volume in the lungs in group B increased at 24. 0 h(P ﹤ 0. 05);NPY content in the serum was elevated at 6. 0 h,while that in BALF was elevated at 6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05);SP content in the serum was elevated at 0. 5 h and 6. 0 h(all P ﹤0. 05),while that in BALF was elevated at 0. 5 h(P ﹤ 0. 05);The expression of NPY protein in the lung tissue in-creased at 0. 5 h,6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05),while the level of SP protein increased at 0. 5 h(P ﹤ 0. 05). Com-pared with group B,water volume in the lungs in group C was higher at 6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05);NPY concen-trations in the serum were higher at 6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05),while those in BALF were higher at 0. 5 h, 6. 0 h,and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05);SP concentrations in serum and BALF were higher at 0. 5 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05). The ex-pression of NPY protein increased at 6. 0 h(P ﹤ 0. 05),while the levels of SP protein increased at 0. 5 h,6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05). Compared with group B,the level of NPY in serum in group D was lower at 6. 0 h,and that in BALF was lower at 6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05). The level of SP in serum was lower at 0. 5 h(P ﹤ 0. 05). The ex-pression of NPY protein decreased at 6. 0 h and 24. 0 h(all P ﹤ 0. 05),while the levels of SP protein decreased at 0. 5 h(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusions Phentolamine is effective in reducing NPE through reduction of NPY and SP,while propranolol can stimulate the release of NPY and SP to aggravate NPE following traumatic brain injury in rats.

BACKGROUND:Thoracolumbar spine as highly concentrated stress, often prone to vertebral fractures. With the further development of the biomechanics and anatomical structure of the spine, posterior open reduction and internal fixation with pedicle screw has been widely accepted by clinicians. OBJECTIVE:To explore the clinical results and safety of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation system (Viper system) used in thoracolumbar compression fractures. METHODS:We retrospectively analyzed 40 patients with thoracolumbar compression fractures from Department of Orthopedics, Changzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from January 2013 to February 2014. According to the type of graft, patients were randomly divided into experiment group and control group, with 20 patients in each group. They were respectively subjected to Viper percutaneous pedicle screw fixation system and open reduction and pedicle screw fixation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al vertebra got bone unions. Operative time and time to bone union were shorter in the experiment group than in the control group. Moreover, intraoperative blood loss was less in the experiment group than in the control group. Cobb’s angle, height percentage of leading edge and wedge angle were similar between the two groups. However, at 12 months after internal fixation, height percentage of leading edge was lower in the experiment group than in the control group. Visual Analogue Scale scores and Oswestry Disability Index were noticeably improved after fixation in both groups. Visual Analogue Scale scores and Oswestry Disability Index were lower in the experiment group than in the control group immediately after fixation. These results suggest that compared with open reduction and pedicle screw fixation, Viper percutaneous pedicle screw fixation system for thoracolumbar compression fractures can stably restore the structure and function of spine, and does not increase perioperative complications.
