Objective To evaluate the usefulness of ultrasonography in detecting parathyroid lesions in the patients with hyperparathyroidism. Methods The results of ultrasonography were compared with operative and histologic findings, and other imaging techniques such as 99m-Tc-sestamibi scintigraphy and CT in 210 patients with proved hyperparathyroidism. Results The overall sensitivity and specificity of ultrasonography in detecting parathyroid lesions were 68.62%, 93.79%. Lesions at lower pole of thyroid were more likely to be detected than ectopic ones. Ultrasonography was helpful in diagnosis of parathyroid adenoma, hyperplasia or carcinoma when combined with clinical manifestations. Conclusions Ultrasonography is a useful means in preoperative localizing of hyperparathyroidism.

Objective To evaluate the treatment of traumatic posterior urethral atresia in boys via a modified transperineal approach. Methods The transperineal approach was adepted in 11 cases with transecting the central perineal teadon, excising the ligaments of arcuate pubis and the traumatic scar, so that end-to-end anastomosis of urethra could be achieved with good exposure. Results 10 cases were cured after the first operation, where as one patient needed the procedure for 3 times. Conclusions The modified transperineal approach provide a good exposure for the anastomosis of urethra in boys.

Objective To evaluate the usefulness of contrast enhanced ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast lesions. Methods Contrast enhanced ultrasound was performed after administration of SonoVue in 104 patients scheduled for surgical tumor removal. The enhancement morphology was classified as non, peripheral, homogeneous, regional,or heterogeneous enhancement based on distribution of enhancing areas. All breast lesions enhancement morphology were analyzed, and the diagnostic value of contrast enhanced ultrasound was calculated. Results The prevalence of non enhancement was significantly higher in benign lesions than in malignant ones(P = 0.013),and the prevalence of peripheral enhancement was significantly higher in malignant lesions than in benign ones (P = 6.02 × 10-7). Conclusions Contrast enhanced ultrasound is useful in diagnosis of breast lesions.

Objective To explore the clinical application of material decomposition technique on spectral CT imaging and evaluate hemodynamic changes in different liver lobes with liver cirrhosis. Methods 30 patients with liver cirrhosis diagnosed clinically in our hospital were collected and underwent enhanced scanning of abdomen with spectral CT protocol. The monochromatic energy images and iodine-based material decomposition (MD) images were reconstructed after scanning. The iodine concentration (IC) was measured in five liver lobes (the caudate, left lateral, left inner, right anterior and right posterior lobes) and the abdominal aorta of the same axial slice in both the arterial phase (AP) and portal venous phase (VP) on the iodine-water based material decomposition images. The arterial iodine fraction (AIF) and the portal venous iodine concentration (PVIC) as well as the normalized iodine concentration (NIC) during the AP and VP were calculated. The differences of IC,the NIC,the AIF,and the PVIC in five liver lobes in AP and VP were compared by using single factor analysis of variance. Results The IC,the NIC in both AP and VP and the AIF of the caudate liver lobe were higher than those of other four liver lobes, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05), while these values in the other four lobes showed no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).The PVIC of the caudate liver lobe was slightly lower than that of the other four liver lobes, however, the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.929).Conclusion The quantitative iodine concentration measurement of liver lobes on spectral CT material decomposition technique can evaluate the hemodynamic changes in liver lobes with liver cirrhosis, and provide more information about the change of blood flow in liver cirrhosis.

Objective:To investigate the dynamic changes of intestinal flora in septic model mice.Methods:Forty-two male SPF C57BL/6 mice were selected, the sepsis model was reproduced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and the experimental mice were divided into CLP 6-12 hours group ( n = 9) and 1, 2, 3 days group (all n = 10) and Sham group ( n = 3) according to the time points after modeling. Intestinal flora 16S rRNA sequencing was carried out within feces from the colonic lumen of mice, and the effective sequences were clustered to obtain an operational classification unit (OTU) for statistical analysis of biological information, including Alpha diversity analysis, species composition analysis, principal coordinate analysis (PCoA analysis) and species difference analysis (LEfSe analysis), the dynamic changes of intestinal flora after CLP modeling were analyzed. Results:Compared with Sham group, with the prolongation of modeling time, the Alpha diversity of intestinal flora decreased, showing a decrease in community richness index (3 days after CLP: Chao index 1 was 367.9±162.6 vs. 508.3±105.9, Ace index was 372.5±151.9 vs. 498.8±104.2), Shannon index decreased in community diversity index (3 days after CLP: 2.57±1.06 vs. 4.30±0.57, Simpson index increased (3 days after CLP: 0.26±0.19 vs. 0.04±0.03), suggesting that with the progress of CLP modeling time, the richness and diversity of intestinal flora decreased. According to species composition analysis, in OTU level, OTU 633 accounted for the highest proportion in CLP 1 day group (24.79%), OTU 1016 was dominant in CLP 2 days and 3 days groups, and the highest proportion was 61.75% in CLP 3 days group; in genus level, the abundance of norank_f_Muribaculaceae showed a slight increase and then a significant decrease with time, the abundance of Escherichia-Shigella increased significantly in CLP 2 days and 3 days groups, the abundance of Lactobacillus increased first and then decreased with time, the abundance of Bacteroides showed a trend of gradual increase with time. PCoA analysis suggested that CLP 6-12 hours group had a higher structural similarity with Sham group. The flora structure changed gradually with the time after modeling, and the change was significant after 3 days of CLP. LEfSe analysis indicated that the main components that caused the differences among the groups were g _norank_f_Muribaculaceae, g _Prevotellaceae_UCG-001, s_uncultured_Bacteroidales_bacterium_g_norank_f_Muribaculaceae, g_Parabacteroides, Escherichia-Shigella and OTU 1016. The differences in abundance of Escherichia-Shigella and OTU 1016 among the five groups ranked first in the genus level and OTU level respectively; the abundance of Escherichia-Shigella gradually increased from 0.01% (0%, 0.02%) in 6-12 hours after CLP to 44.79% (3.71%, 53.75%) in 3 days with time, and the abundance of OTU 1016 increased from 0.01% (0%, 0.02%) in 6-12 hours after CLP to 44.69% (3.66%, 53.64%) in 3 days with time. Conclusion:Intestinal dysbiosis occurred in all CLP model groups, the diversity of the flora gradually decreased with the progress of modeling time, Escherichia-Shigella gradually became the dominant bacteria.

Objective To understand and identify the molecules related to the natural resistance to Schistosoma japonicum infection in Mirotus fortis. Methods Sera from Mirotus fortis without schistosome infection were collected. The S.japonicum adult worm cDNA library was immunologically screened with the sera. The positive recombinants were identified, cloned, sequenced and analysed with software and internet. Results Seven genes encoding antigens relevant to sera antibodies in Mirotus fortis were cloned and sequenced. These antigens included glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), serine protease inhibitors(SERPIN), 70 kDa heat shock protein(HSP70), 22\^6 kDa membrane-associated antigen, paramyosin (Sj97), cytochrome C and cathepsin B. Conclusion Many protein molecules might have been involved in natural resistance to \{S.japonicum\} infection in Mirotus fortis. The above 7 kinds of molecules may be identified as new candidates of vaccine against \{S.japonicum\} infection.
