Objective To establish an animal model to study endometriosis. Methods Six female Bama miniature pigs that were sexually mature were chosen and their endometrial tissues were acquired surgically. The endometrial tissues were implanted to abdominal cavity and subcutaneous tissues. Results The ectopic endometria in the implant location formed mass or cyst that was verified pathologically to be similar to normal endometrial tissues. Conclusion The establishment of ectopic endometriosis in Bama miniature pigs is successful, which provides an ideal model for further therapeutic study of endometriosis.

Objective To investigate the effects of nordihydroguaiaretic acid(NDGA)on the endometriosis established in Bama miniature pigs.Methods Six Bama pigs that had been successfully established into animal model of endometriosis subcutaneously received 3% NDGA at dose of 20 mg/kg(n=4)or PBS solution(n=2)for 20 d.The grafts in abdominal cavity and subcutaneous tissues were observed and the serum concentrations of hormone,were measured by chemiluminoimmunoassay before and after the period of NDGA or PBS injection.The expressions of FⅧAg and VEGF in the endometriotic tissues were observed.Results The endometriotic masses were reduced to some degree after the time period of NDGA injection,even partially disappeared,while those treated with PBS showed no obvious changes.Histoimmunochemical analysis showed NDGA decreased the number of endometrial glands,the proliferation rate of the glandular epithelial cells,the endometrial stroma cells and the vessels,and inhibited the microvascular density and VEGF in the endometriotic tissues(P

Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy for peripheral non-small-cell lung cancer. Methods:We evaluated 35 patients with non-small-cell lung cancer who received percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy and 35 patients who received radiotherapy from March 2004 to September 2006;the patients were sex-matched, age-matched, and had the same pathology and clinical staging. Clinical effects were observed and assessed. Survival rate were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. The difference in survival rate between the two treatment methods was analyzed using a log-rank test. Results:The 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year survival rates for the microwave coagulation therapy group (71.4%, 40.0%, and 20.0%, respectively) were significantly higher than those for the radiation therapy (51.4%, 22.9%, and 11.4%, respectively) (P<0.05). Conclusion:Percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective alternative for patients with peripheral non-small-cell lung cancer who cannot undergo routine surgery because of poor heart and lung function or fear of surgical trauma.

Objective To monitor the levels of radioactive contamination due to the Japanese Fukushima nuclear accident in Beijing,so as to provide scientific technical information for government to draw effective controlling strategy and processing mechanism.Methods The system of nuclear emergency nmonitoring was started,then the radioactive contamination levels of atmosphere,rain water,surface water and vegetables in Beijing were detected according to the relative survey regulations and technology criterions.Results During the period from 15 to 41 d after the accident,obvious radioactive contamination was found in the atmosphere of Beijing.The maximum radioactivity concentration of 131I ( 5.89 mBq/m3 ) was detected at 22 d after the accident.The radioactivity concentrations of 137Cs and 134Cs were surveyed forming their corresponding peaks at 20 d after the accident,but they were one magnitude lower than the peak value of 131I at least.In addition,the gross β radioactivity level in the water of Chao Bai-he river was verified to be in the range of 0.314 - 0.602 Bq/L. Conclusions The radioactive contamination due to Fukushima nuclear accident has not done visible harm to the public health in Beijing,but monitoring should be continued to observe the long-term effect of the accident.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a common microvasscular complication in diabetic patients.It is necessary for general practitioner to recognize the early DKD,and give individualized treatment and comprehensive management.This article presents a patient with diabetic kidney disease,to whom individualized treatment and comprehensive management were given.Hopefully the case-based learning would help general practitioners to early recognize DKD and to give timely treatment and effective control of diabetic nephropathy.

A well - established residency standardized training system is crucial for cultivating qualified general practitioners(GPs). The syllabus has regulated the goals, objectives, contents and forms of training, but not proposed the concrete and effective teaching and assessment models. This article reflects the existing problems in GP training regarding teaching faculty,rotation plan, outpatient teaching, feedback and evaluation mechanisms as well as the assessment methods and contents,the article also gives specific suggestions for future improvement in order to train competent GPs.

This research summarized the exploration of English salon teaching on students in Department of General Practice,Peking University Health Science Center,illustrating thatthis teaching method was helpful to improve the students' English proficiency and theory of medicine,to promote communication and cohesion of the department,and to enhance the GP concept and competency.Based on the existing problems of English salon teaching,this research put forward the corresponding countermeasures so as to provide optimizing reference for teaching of GP,which included:(1)To encourage students to be active to participate inEnglish salon,correct the students' learning attitude and improve their learning methods,pay attention toteaching skills and take advantage of situational dialogue training methods;(2)To cultivate students' clinical thinking of diagnosis and treatment,urge the students to refer toliterature in time,takenotes and solve problemsas appropriate,as well as to promote supervisors' participation;(3)To recommend English salon teaching as an extension for thedelayed case-sharing.

Common cold is the most common upper respiratory tract infection.No antibiotic use for common cold has been international consensus,while the irrational antibiotic use and subsequent antibiotic resistance become an important issue of public health security.This article reviews the current status of antibiotic use for common cold and its related factors.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between the polymorphism of angiotensinogen gene (AGT) and the risk for hypertension in a Chinese population.

METHODSThree polymorphisms of AGT gene were analyzed in 335 patients with documented essential hypertension and 196 control subjects by using PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Expectation maximization(EM) algorithm was then used for pairwise linkage disequilibrium test and haplotype analysis of AGT polymorphisms.

RESULTSLinkage disequilibrium between M235T and A-20C, between M235T and A-6G, between A-20C and A-6G was observed (P<10(-4)). The case-control analysis revealed that the frequency of T235 is significantly higher in essential hypertension patients than in control subjects. But all haplotype frequencies showed no significant difference between the patient and control groups.

CONCLUSIONNo association was noted between the haplotypes of AGT gene and hypertension in tested people, but T235 allele might play an important role in increased risk for essential hypertension.
