Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2011;17(3):247-249
Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a neuropathic pain disorder, characterized by persistent and severe pain after trauma or surgery. Diagnosis is mainly based on clinical signs and treatment is based on a multidisciplinary approaches, including non-pharmacological approaches and occupational therapy, pharmacotherapy and invasive therapeutics. This article reviewed the current advice of diagnosis and treatment of CRPS.
2.Mechanism of Ketamine Protecting Brain from Ischemic Damage (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2007;13(3):205-207
Recently studies have shown that ketamine given to patients under mechanical ventilation and background anesthetics without adversely altering cerebral hemodynamics. More studies have also shown ketamine has neuroprotective effects. The main mechanisms may involve changing the expression of apoptosis-regulating proteins, inhibiting the toxicibility of excitatory amino acid and decreasing Ca2+ influx by blockade of NMDA receptors activation. It can also inhibit proinflammatory cytokine production induced by tissue ischemia and affect the protein kinase phosphorylations related to cerebral ischemia, etc..

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Professor Deng's Jinfu An Decoction(JAD)on intermediate and advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods Ninety patients with intermediate and advanced NSCLC were equally randomized into 3 groups.GroupⅠreceived routine chemical therapy(CT), groupⅡreceived oral use of JAD,which is mainly composed of raw Arisaema cum Bile, raw Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix Pseudostellariae,Culmus Phragmitis,Poria,Semen Persicae,Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii,Gekko Chinensis,Pseudobulbus Cremastrae seu Pleiones,Radix Salviae Mihiorrhizae, and groupⅢreceived JAD + CT. Three weeks constituted one phase, two phases constituted one treatment courses, and the treatment lasted 2 courses. The changes of clinical symptom and signs scoring, tumor mass, immune function, hemorrheological indexes, and quality of life(QOL)as well as body weight and toxic and side reactions were observed in the three groups. Results The symptom scores decreased in the 3 groups obviously(P0.05).Between the 3 groups, the improvement of QOL in groupsⅡandⅢdiffered from that in groupⅠ(P

BACKGROUND:Ultrasonic therapy is one of several physical therapy modalities suggested for the management of pain and loss of function due to osteoarthritis. However, its effectiveness stil remains controversial in the previous studies.
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the effect of ultrasonic therapy for the treatment of relieving knee osteoarthritis pain.
METHODS:A retrieval of Pubmed, Ovid/Medline, Ovid/EMBASE, and Cochranee database was performed. The relevant literatures were manual y retrieved. The retrieval deadline was set on March 31, 2014. Randomized control ed trials on ultrasonic therapy of knee osteoarthritis were col ected.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of eight studies of meta-analysis were accumulated. Among them, six studies adopted visual analog scale and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index, one study adopted visual analog scale only, and one study adopted Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index. Then the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index scores were transformed into visual analog scale scores for data analysis. There was a statistical difference between the groups in the visual analog scale pain score (standardized standard deviation:-0.51;95%confidence interval:-0.68,-0.33;P=0.05). Ultrasonic therapy is an effective method for knee osteoarthritis pain.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 1994;0(03):-
14 aged patients received radiofrequency current ablation(RFCA)to treat drug-refractory tachycardia. The success rate was 97%(13/14).In conjunction with the charcteristicaof aged patients often with long clinical history and apt to be complicated, the paper especially discussed the distinctive feature of application of RFCA to aged patients.

Objective:To investigate the ocular clinical manifestations in pediatric patients with incontinentia pigmenti (IP).Methods:A case series study was carried out and a retrospective analysis was performed.Clinical data of 13 pediatric patients with IP treated from January 2013 to December 2019 in Xijing Hospital were collected. All the patients underwent regular ophthalmologic examination.Three patients accepted fundus fluorescein angiography and six eyes of five patients were treated with retinal photocoagulation or anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) intravitreal injection according to severity of the condition. The follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 6 years. The medical history, family history, systemic manifestations, ocular characteristics, diagnosis, treatment as well as ocular and systemic changes during follow-up were recorded and analyzed. This study followed the Declaration of Helsinki and the study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University (No.KY20203287-1).Results:All the 13 patients were female aged from 5 days to 42 months at first visit, with the average age of 2.0 (1.0, 8.5) months. As for the main skin lesions at first visit, there were 4 cases in erythematous vesicle stage, 3 cases in verrucous exanthema stage, and 6 cases in hyperpigmented stage. There were 7 cases in shrinkage stage during follow-up.Among the 26 eyes of 13 patients, 18 eyes of 10 patients showed ocular anomalies, accounting for 76.9% of total patients (69.2% of total eyes). Among the 13 patients, 8 patients presented bilateral ocular involvement, 2 patients showed unilateral anomalies, and 3 patients had no ocular lesions. The retina was involved in all patients with ocular manifestations. The typical retinal lesions included avascular zone of peripheral retina in 13 eyes, tortuous and dilated retinal vessels in 10 eyes, increased vascular branch in 7 eyes, white linear retinal arteries and partial vascular occlusion in 4 eyes, retinal neovascularization in 3 eyes, total retinal detachment in 2 eyes, and retinal fold with macular lamellar hole in 1 eye.In addition, there was retinal hemorrhage in 11 eyes, retinal pigment changes in 4 eyes, grey ridge lesions in 3 eyes, macular dysplasia in 2 eyes, choroidal atrophy in 1 eye, optic gliosis in 1 eye and yellowish-white retinal exudate in 1 eye. There were also 4 patients with other ocular manifestations, such as strabismus and eyeball atrophy.Retinal photocoagulation was performed in 4 eyes of 3 patients and anti-VEGF intravitreal injection in 2 eyes of 2 patients. The retinal lesions regressed and the condition of patients kept stable during follow-up.Conclusions:The ocular clinical manifestations in patients with IP are usually typical and diverse, and the retinal vascular lesion is the main type.Early diagnosis and timely treatment are of great significance.

Objective To explore the influence of multidimensional social support system on quality of life and psychological state for myasthenia gravis patients underwent VATS.Methods Phenomenological research design and in-depth interviews were conducted for 12 patients with myasthenia gravis in cardiothoracic surgery department in our hospital. And countermeasures were implemented. Results There were four themes drew from MG including the pressure and pains of patients, the difficulties in treatment period and daily life, social support was a great help for patients, adapting and adjusting to MG.Conclusion The quality of life for MG patients is generally lower than healthy people, and the generalized is worse than the ocular after VATS.Increasing the multi-dimensions social support, especially family and peer support is the key factor for the patient's postoperative quality of life.
