Objective The clinical efficacy and safety of L dopa monotherapy and concomitant L dopa therapy with dopamine agonists (bromocriptine or pergolide) of the treatment of Parkinson's disease Methods The clinical trial was performed in the multicentre,open label study L dopa group: 47 cases,L dopa plus bromocriptine group: 43 cases and L dopa plus pergolide group: 48 cases The clinical efficacy was assessed with modified Webster's scale and motor dysfunction rating scale for Parkinson's disease ( MDRSPD ),and safety data included blood hepatic and renal function tests,blood and urine routine tests,arterial blood pressure,heart rate measurements and electrocardiogram were also analyzed at the beginning and end of study The average daily dose of L dopa in levedopa group was (523 3?235 9) mg,The average daily dose of L dopa and bromocriptine were (526 7?241 3) mg and (7 3?1 5) mg in L dopa plus bromocriptine group,respectively The average daily dose of L dopa and pergolide were (558 3?192 9)mg and (0 235?0 045) mg in L dopa plus pergolide group separately Result The clinical improvement was about 74 5%both in assessment of modified Webster's scale and MDRSPD in L dopa group The clinical score was improved in 69 8% (Webster's scale) and 79 1% (MDRSPD) in L dopa plus bromocriptine group,respectively The clinical improved rates were 77 9%( Webster's scale ) and 81 3%( MDRSPD ) in L dopa plus bergolide group The incidence rates of side effects were 27 7%in L dopa group,39 5%in L dopa plus bromocriptine and 18 8%in L dopa plus pergolide groups Conclusion There was an efficacy in treatment of Parkinson's disease in either L dopa monotherapy or combination with bromocriptine or pergolide The treatment of L dopa alone was more effective in the early stage of Parkinson's disease and concomitant L dopa therapy with dopamine agonists were more effective in the advanced stage of Parkinson's disease,pergolide was not only more effective,safe and tolerable,but also fewer adverse events than Bromocriptine was in this short term trial

Tu-Jia medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).“San-Yuan doctrine”is the guiding ideology of Tu-Jia medicine, but there is no systematic exposition of its literature origin. This paper ar-gued that“San-Yuan doctrine”of Tu-Jia medicine was originated in the“San-Yuan”of Taoism. Its formation was closely related to the impact of Taoism and Tu-Jia culture, the understanding of human physiology and pathology in Tu-Jia medicine. This paper expounded the origin of“San-Yuan doctrine”, the guiding ideology of Tu-Jia medi-cine and Taoism culture through citing a number of theoretical bases. First of all, the concept of“San-Yuan”in Tu-Jia medicine originated in Taoism. Secondly, legends about the Lord Lao-Zi and Medicine King Bodhisattva in Tu-Jia medicine were closely related with Taoism. Moreover, there existed important links between Tu-Jia medicine and Taoist medicine. For example, both of them are aware of the importance of brain. The reason, I think, is firstly due to the penetration of Taoism in Tu-Jia culture. Taoism culture has a profound influence on Tu-Jia culture. Sec-ondly, the understanding of human physiology and disease in Tu-Jia medicine is closely related to“three”. There-fore, Tu-Jia medicine took“San-Yuan doctrine”as its own guiding ideology. It is of great significance to the study of ethnic minority medicine culture and inheriting its academic thoughts by the study of Tu-Jia medicine origin.

Objective: To investigate the effect of recombinant BCG secreting IL-2 (rBCG-IL-2) on peritoneal macrophages of mouse and inquire into the effect of rBCG-IL-2 on immunity of host. Methods: Gene engineering technology, electricity transfer- ence and inoculation tumor cell are adopted; MTT assay is used to determine tumoricidal effect of macrophages. Results: Tumo- ricidal effect of macrophages of rBCG-IL-2 groups was higher than those of the control coups and BCG groups, and the tumorici- dal effect of macrophages could reach a high state in a week. Conclusion: rBCG-IL-2 can raise tumoricidal effect of macrophages, improve immunity of host and is a prospect biological preparation.

BACKGROUND: On the basis of traditional herb wuling san, tianqi and danshen are added to make a preparation, jianshen lishui I , for treating blood stasis and edema; shichangpu and xiakucao are added to make a preparation, xingnao xiaozhong capsule, for treating fire, sputum and qiaobi in cerebral edema.OBJECTIVE: To observe the differences between jianshen lishui Ⅰ and xingano xiaozhong capsule on treating vascular-derived cerebral edema.DESIGN: Randomized grouping design and blank controlled study.SETTING: Laboratory of Neurology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.MATERIALS: The experiment was completed in the Lab.oratory of Neurology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March to April 2001. Totally 32 male rabbits with 7 months old were selected in the study.METHODS: ① Animal models with cerebral edema were established with self-fresh blood injection method. According to grouping method, animals were divided randomly into 4 groups: blank control group (without intervention); model group (without intervention after modeling); jianshen lishuiⅠ group (11.5 mL/kgjianshen lishui Ⅰ was perfused after modeling; jian-shen lishui Ⅰ consisted of 15 g sanqi, 15 g danshen, 10 gfuling, 10 gzhuling, 10 g zexie, 10 g baizhu and 10 g gu~hi, and provided by Dispensary of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 200 mL/bag) and xingnao xiaozhong capsule group [after modeling, 11.5 mL/kg xingnao xiaozhong suspension was made by 380 mg/kg boiled distilled water; certification: southern medicine (96) 05079; consisting of 15g xiakucao, 15 g shichangpu, 10 gfuling, 10 g zhuling, 10 g zexie, 10 g baizhu and 10 g guizhi, 13.33 g raw materials per capsule; provided by Agent Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine] with 8 in each group. Animals in each group were divided into 12 and 24 hours subgroups with 4 in each time points. ② Animals were killed 12 and 24 hours after intervention with air embolism to calculate cerebral coefficient (total brain mass/body mass × 100%), cerebral water content [(wet weight - dry weight)/wet weight × 100%], Evens blue content in brain tissue [absorbency (A value) × microgram in standard liquid/an A value × (25 mL/wet weight)]. ③Positivity was tested with square method; differences among groups were compared with F test; differences between groups were compared with q test; time points were tested with t test; and irregular variance was checked with rank sum test.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparisons of cerebral coefficient,water content and content of Evans blue in 12 and 24-hour experiment group.RESULTS: Totally 32 rabbits entered the final analysis. ① 12-hour experiment: Water content and Evans blue content in jianshen lishui Ⅰgroup and xingnao xiaozhong capsule group were obviously lower than those in model group (P ＜ 0.01); cerebral coefficient in jianshen lishui I group was lower than that in xingnao xiaozhong capsule group, but the difference was not significant (P ＞ 0.05); water content and Evans blue content in jianshen lishui Ⅰ group were lower than those in xingnao xiaozhong capsule group (P ＜ 0.05). ② 24-hour experiment: Water content and Evans blue content in jianshen lishui Ⅰ group and xingnao xiaozhong capsule group were obviously lower than those in model group (P ＜ 0.01);cerebral coefficient in jianshen lishui Ⅰ group was lower than that in model group (P ＜ 0.01); cerebral coefficient, water content and Evans blue content in jianshen lishui Ⅰ group were respectively lower than those in xingnao xiaozhong capsule group (P ＜ 0.05).CONCLUSION: Vascular-derived edema has found 12 hours after modeling and cerebral edema deteriorates with time passing. In addition, effect of jianshen lishui Ⅰ on blood brain barrier is superior to that of xingnao xiaozhong capsule.

Objective To investigate the proteomics differences between the high-sensitivity(HS) and the low-sensitivity(LS)groups of cervical carcinoma treated by concurrent chemoradiotherapy,and to confirm the sensitivity associated proteins in intermediate stage and advanced cervical carcinoma.Methods Fresh carcinoma tissues were collected from 10 untreated cervical carcinoma patients.According to the response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy,the tissues were classified into HS group and LS group.In the first part of our experiment,protein separation was performed using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE)with Amersham 18 am linear pH 3-10 immobilized pH gradient(IPG)strips.The images of the gels were analyzed by PD-quest 7.0 software to find the differentially expressed protein-spots in each group.Then the differentially expressed protein-spots were incised from the gels and digested by trypsin.The peptide mass flngerprintings(PMF)was acquired by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS).The proteins were identified by data searched in the Mascot-database.Two differentially expressed proteins were assayed by western blot and immunohistochemical methods.Results Most of the gels were clear and successfully analyzed by PD-quest 7.0 software.Most of the protein-spots concentrated on the area of 20-100 KDa(Mw)and pH4-8.The average number of the protein-spots was 781±74 in HS group and 766±52 in LS group.The match rate was 87.6%between the two groups.Eight proteins highly in HS group but lowly expressed in LS group included hemoglobin subunit beta,caspase-14 precursor,calmodulin-like,S100-A9 protein(MRP-14),galectin-7,HSKERC4,keratin 19 and actin.Ten proteins highly in LS group but lowly expression in HS group included anti HBs antibody light-chain Fab,laminB1,WARS protein,flavin reductase,glutamate dehydrogenase 1,nuclear matrix protein 238,retinal dehydrogenase 1,AFl 65172,subunit of replicative DNA polymerase and HSP70.The higher expression of HSP70 in LS group and galectin7 in HS groups were further confirmed by western blot and immunohistochemical method.Conclusions The 2-DE gels images are successfully acquired from high-sensitivity group and low-sensitivity group of intermediate stage and advanced cervical carcinoma tissues treated by concurrent chemoradiotherapy.Some differentially expressed proteins between the two groups can be further confirmed by western blot and immunohistochemical method.

Objective To explore the effect of transitional care model (TCM) on the prevention of complications in patients with severe cerebral infarction. Methods Sixty patients with severe cerebral infarction were randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group, 30 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional nursing and the observation group received TCM. The two groups were compared in terms of the incidence of complications and re-admission rate. Result The incidence of complications and the rate of re-admissions in the experiment group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion TCM can reduce the incidence of complications in patients with severe cerebral infarction, lower the incidence of hospital admission, relieve the pain of patients and improve the quality of life of patients.

This study was aimed to explore effects of Zi-He-Che (ZHC) on estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hor-mone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) among perimenopausal rat model. The 4-month-old young female SD rats with vaginal smear of normal estrous cycle and 18-month-old aged female SD rats with vaginal smear of no estrous cycle were selected as the normal control group. The 11- and 12-month-old female SD menopausal rats with vaginal smear of estrous cycle disorder were selected and randomly divided into the model group, treatment group and posi-tive control group. The normal control group and the model group were given physiological saline. And the treatment group was given ZHC. The positive control group was given prescription from the textbook. Observation was given on effects of ZHC on E2, LH and FSH among perimenopausal rat model. The results showed that compared with the young group, the level of E2 in the old and model group was significantly decreased (P<0.01), the level of FSH and LH were significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the level of E2 in the treatment group and positive control group was significantly increased (P<0.01), the level of FSH and LH were significantly decreased (P<0.01). It was concluded that both ZHC and prescription from the textbook were able to reduce FSH and LH levels, and increase the estrogen level among perimenopausal rats.

Objective To investigate the effect of propofol on the function of gap junction (GJ) in HeLa cells transfected with Cx32/Cx26 plasmid. Methods Cervical cancer HeLa cells transfected with Cx32/Cx26 was given as present by professor Andrew L. Harris from New Jersey Dental Medical School, department of pharmacology and physiology. The transfected cells were selected by G-418. The effective GJ channels were identified by "Parachute Assay". The cells were randomly divided into 6 groups: Ⅰ control group (group C); Ⅱ fat emulsion group was exposed to fat emulsion 10 μg/ml (group E); Ⅲ 18-α-GA group was exposed 18-α-GA (gap junction blocker) 1.0 μg/ml (18-α-GA); Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅵ propofol groups were exposed to propofol 1.3, 2.2 and 3.2μg/ml respectively (group P1, P2, P3). The transfected HeLa cells were incubated at 37 ℃ for 4 h. Gap junction function was assessed using fluorescent indicators Calcine-AM which emits green fluorescence and CM-Dil which emits red fluorescence. The small molecular Calcine-AM can pass through gap junction and enters HeLa cells while the large molecular CM-Dil cannot pass through gap junction and stays in the loading cells. Fluorescent indicator transmissibility and inhibition rate were calculated. Results The fluorescent indicator transmissibility was significantly lower and inhibition rate higher in group 18-α-GA, P1, P2 and P3 than in control group. There was nosignificant difference in the fluorescent indicator transmissibility and inhibition rate between group C and E. The inhibition of GJ function by propofol was dose-dependent. Conclusion Propofol can inhibit the function of GJ in HeLa cells transfected by Cx32/Cx26 in a dose-dependent manner.
