1.THE TRANSMISSION OF VITAMIN A AND ?-CAROTENE FROM MOTHER TO FETUS IN PREGNANCY

The serum concentration of vitamin A (VA) and B-carotene were determined in 50 healthy pregnant women in the later trimesters and parturition, their newborns and 20 non-pregnant women. In the meantime the contents of placental tissues were determined too. The results showed; 1. The serum VA content(2.17 umol/L, 62ug/dl)of pregnant women in the later trimesters was higher than that of non-pregnant women (1.37umol/L, 39ug/dl), but it decreased immediately after delivery. 2. There was no significant def-ference of the serum B-carotene concentration between the pregnant women and non-pregnant women. 3. The cord blood VA and B-carotene contents were much lower than those of maternal blood. 4. The contents of B-caro-tene in placentas were 9.6 times as much as VA. 5. The efficiency of transport of B-carotene from maternal blood to placental tissue was higher than that of VA, and lower than that from placenta to cord blood.
2.Effect on the BODE index by salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation combined ipratropium bromide aerosol in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation combined ipratropium bromide aerosol in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods One hundred and twenty patients with stable COPD was randomly divided into control group and observation group with 60 patients each.The control group was received ipratropium bromide aerosol inhalation,and the observation group was given salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation and ipratropium bromide aerosol for 6 months.BODE index,SGRQ scores,plasma cortisol and bone mineral density were compared between two groups before and after treatment.Results BODE index scores had no significant difference between two groups before treatment (P>0.05).After treatment,BODE index scores,dyspnea scale,FEV1%,6MWD and BODE index total scores in observation group were superior to those in control group [ (1.9 ± 0.5) grades vs. (2.3 ± 0.5)grades,(58.5 ± 7.3)% vs.(50.4 ± 6.2)%,(411.1 ± 56.8) m vs.(347.5 ± 60.4) m,(3.3 ± 1.0) scores vs.(3.8 ± 1.3 ) scores ],there were significant differences (P<0.05 ).SGRQ scores had no significant difference between two groups before treatment (P>0.05 ).After treatment and in SGRQ scores,respiration symptom,limitation of activity,disease influence scores in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group [ (20.7 ± 10.3 ) scores vs.(37.9 ± 14.4) scores,(20.7 ± 9.5 ) scores vs.(34.8 ± 13.0) scores,(16.3 ± 6.7) scores vs.(27.2 ± 11.8) scores,(17.5 ± 7.0) scores vs. (34.6 ± 12.3) scores],there were signiticant differences (P<0.01 ).There were no significant difference of plasma cortisol and bone mineral density between two groups (P>0.05).Conclusions Salmeterol xinafoate and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation and ipratropium bromide aerosol in patients with stable COPD can greatly improve the lung function and life quality and with less adverse reaction.
4.The simulation of multiphase flow field in ventricular assist device and analysis of hemolytic capability

Objective:The hemolytic prediction model of the axial flow impeller blood pump is carried out by using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) multiphase flow model.Methods:The hydrodynamic performance of the pump and the flow field in the pump, and the shear stress distribution are analyzed. A hemolytic prediction model based on the shear stress is built based on the calculation results. Hemolysis tests in vitro were performed 6 times with fresh bovine blood. At each time, the flow of the ventricular assist device(VAD) is 5 L/min and the outflow tract pressure is 100 mmHg(13.3kPa). According to the tests, the plasma free hemoglobin(FHB) content and the hematocrit(HCT) are measured every half hour. At the end of each experiment Normal Index of Hemolysis(NIH) is calculated.Results:The average of NIH is 0.0055 g/100L, almost identical with that obtained from the hemolytic prediction model.Conclusion:Multiphase flow model can be used for quantitative predictions of the hemolytic behavior of a VAD. This method can be applied in the selection stage of a blood pump.
5.Combined mesenchymal stem cells and allogenic bone marrow transplantation in treatment of MRL/Ipr mice

In order to study the role of the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)transplanted with or without bone marrow(BM)in the treatment of lupus mice and the effect of MSCs in the onset of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Method Twenty 12-week-old female MRL/lpr mice were randomly divided into four groups,including simple bone marrow transplantation group(SG,BM 1×107),united group-1(UG1,BM 1×107+MSCs 1×104),united group-2(UG2,BM 1×107+MSCs 1×106),the positive control group(PG,no transplantation).BALB/c mice were used as the negative control group(NG,no transplantation).MSCs which were amplified from the bone marrow of male BALB/c mice in vitro were transplanted into the female MRL/lpr mice with or without BM.One month later Y chromosome was detected to confirm if the transplantation was successful or not.The change of weight, white blood cells,urine protein,anti-dsDNA antibody,the pathology and immunofluorescence of renal were observed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy.Results Y chromosome was detected in all transplanted female mice.Compared with PG,urine protein concentration in SG,UG1 and UG2 significantly decreased 30 days after transplantation(P<0.05).40 days after transplantation,the rite of anti-dsDNA antibodies in sG(0.91±0.27)was still higher than NG,which OD value wag 0.47 s0.10(P<0.05),but there was no statistical difference among UG1(0.76±0.28),uG2(0.73±0.10)and NG(P>0.05).However,50 days after transplantation,there was no marked difference of the tite of anti-dsDNA antibodies in SG(0.55±0.15),UG1(0.57±0.14)and UC2(0.58±0.05)compared with NG(P>0.05).After transplantation there was no vasculitis.no inflammatory cell infiltration in matrix and no obvious intercapillary cells proliferation in the kidney.The immunofluoroscence became negative or weakly positive.Conclusion MSCs transplantation with or without BM Can both improve the pathogenetic condition of MRL/lpr mice.MSCs can accelerate the clearance of anti-dsDNA antibody and promote the restoration of injured organs.We presume that MSCs are important immunological regulation cells in SLE.
6.Intra-articular injection of etanercept into the sacroiliac joint of ankylosing spondylitis

Objective To evaluated intra-articular injection of TNF-α inhibitors into the sacroiliac joint as an effective and viable alternative. Methods Sixteen patients with documented ankylosing spondylitis (AS), without steroids or disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) were performed CT-guided intra-articular injections of etanercept (TNF-α antagonist) at week 0, 4 and 8 (25 mg per dose). Similarly, 20 patients with AS in the control group received systemic etanercept therapy at a dose of 50 mg per week for 8 weeks. All patients were followed up clinically and evaluated periodically. Pathological features of sacroiliitis were observed with light microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Expression of cytokines in joint biopsy samples was estimated by RT-PCR. Image changes of sacroiliitis were observed by SPECT/CT and MRI. Ttest, t'tesr and χ2 Fisher's test were selected. Results All the 16 patients who received intra-articular etanercept, the mean value of radiological nuclide decrease of the SIJ ROI (region of interest) in the SPECT improved significantly after 8 weeks treatment [(1.38±0.16 vs 1.45±0.14) P<0.05] . Bone marrow edema and fat deposition in MRI were relieved significantly after 8 weeks (P<0.05). In 8 patients the expression of TNF-α and TGF-β mRNA in joint tissue decreased significantly after 8 weeks [(0.89±0.06, 0.84±0.05) vs (l.08± 0.19, 1.13±0.33) (P<0.05)]. The occurrence of gynonitis, enthesitis, chondritis, subehondral bony plate destruction, bone marrow inflammation and inflammatory cell index also decreased significantly (P<0.05). Participants given intra-articular injection showed significant clinical improvement after 8 weeks and 12 weeks treatment(P<0.01 ) in BASDAI score [(32±13) mm]. Conclusion This study has shown that intra-articular injection of etanercept in SIJ can improve joint function and quality of life. It has a satisfactory safety profile and is cost effective. This mode of treatment is most beneficial in local arthropathy of recent onset and in those patients who do not tolerate systemic etanercept therapy.
7.Estimation of hospitalization rate of Haemophilus influenzae associated community-acquired pneumonia in children under 5 years in Suzhou, 2010-2014

Objective:To estimate the hospitalization rate of Haemophilus ( H.) influenzae associated community-acquired pneumonia in children under 5 years in Suzhou. Methods:From 2010 to 2014, medical records and bacteriology results of children under 5 years hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia in Children's Hospital of Soochow University were collected, retrospectively. Detection rate of H. influenzae was describe. The hospitalization rate of H. influenzae associated community-acquired pneumonia was estimated using the number of local children in urban area of Suzhou, which was obtained from the immunization platform of Suzhou Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Results:A total of 28 043 hospitalized pneumonia cases were included from 2010 to 2014, in which 19 526 (69.63%) had bacteriological examination. The overall detection rate of H. influenzae was 11.06% (2 160/19 526), and children aged 12-23 months had the highest positive rate (14.29%, 550/3 850), and the rate was higher during winter-spring than during summer-autumn ( χ 2=455.11, P<0.01). The average hospitalization rate of H. influenzae associated pneumonia in children under 5 years was 760.36/100 000 (95% CI: 733.70/100 000-787.01/100 000), which was higher in winter and spring (898.79/100 000 and 1 249.52/100 000) than in summer and autumn (514.35/100 000 and 359.04/100 000), and the hospitalization rate was higher in boys (942.12/100 000) than in girls (563.76/100 000), the differences were all significant ( P<0.01). The highest hospitalization rate was observed in children aged 1-5 months (2 478.31/100 000) and the hospitalization rate decreased with age ( χ 2=2 129.80, P<0.01). Conclusion:There was a considerable burden of H. influenzae associated community-acquired pneumonia in children under 5 years in Suzhou, especially in children under 6 months.
8. Study on the family hardiness and its influencing factors in children with leukemia

Objective:
To investigate the current status of family hardiness and its influencing factors in children with leukemia.
Methods:
The children with leukemia and their caregivers in the Children's Hospital of Shanxi from August to November 2017 were enrolled. A questionnaire survey was conducted using a convenient sampling method, and 100 questionnaires were distributed. The questionnaire included the General Status Questionnaire, the Family Hardiness Index (FHI), the Coping Health Inventory for Parents (CHIP) and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS).
Results:
A total of 92 valid questionnaires were collected. Among the scores of family hardiness in children with leukemia [(3.29±0.43) points], the responsibility score [(3.32±0.45) points] was higher than the control score [(3.31±0.46) points] and the challenge score [(3.23±0.53) points], and the challenge score was the lowest. The score of frequency of coping styles used by the caregiver of the child with leukemia was (3.64±0.70) points, the most frequent coping style used by the caregiver was "family unity, optimism, cooperative attitude" [(3.73±0.89) points], and the positive [(3.28±0.84) points] and negative [(2.51±0.80) points] emotions were in a moderate state. The child's sex, age, stage of chemotherapy and medical insurance status, the caregiver of the child, the age of the caregiver, the family's place of residence, and the education level were the related factors affecting the family hardiness score (all
