Objective:To explore the anti-inflammatory effects and the underlying mechanisms of ethanol extract of Ageratum cony-zoides. L. from Guangxi. Methods:The auricle edema model was induced by dimethylbenzene in the mice and the paw edema model was induced by carrageenan respectively in the mice and rats to study the anti-inflammatory effects of ethanol extract of Ageratum cony-zoides. L. from Guangxi. The content of malondiadehyde (MDA) and proateglandin E2 (PGE2), and the activity of superoxide dis-mutase( SOD) in the mouse edema paw was measured. The contents of tumour necrosisfactor-α ( TNF-α) , interleukin-1β ( IL-1β) and interleukin-6(IL-6) in the rat serum were detected as well. Results:Compared with the model control group, the ethanol extracts of Ageratum conyzoides. L. from Guangxi could remarkably inhibit auricle edema in the mice and paw edema in the mice and rats( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01), the inhibition ratio for high, medium and low dosage group(6. 0, 3. 0, 1. 5 g·kg-1)was 29. 24%,16. 42% and 11. 21% in the auricle edema mice and 28. 66%,18. 79% and 13. 13% in the paw edema mice , respectively. It could remarkably re-duce MDA and PGE2 content and enhance the activity of SOD in the mouse inflammatory tissue(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). In the paw e-dema rats, the inhibition ratio for high, medium and low dosage group(4. 5,2. 3, 1. 2 g·kg-1)was 43. 69%, 36. 01% and 23. 29%at the 3rd h, respectively , and it also could remarkably reduce serum TNF-α, IL-1βand IL-6 content(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). Con-clusion:The ethanol extracts of Ageratum conyzoides. L. from Guangxi show significantly anti-inflammatory effects, and the mecha-nisms may be related to the ability of scavenging oxygen free radicals and reducing the release of inflammatory cytokines and proinflam-matory cytokines.

BACKGROUND: The traditional ankle-foot orthosis focuses on the protection, correction, stability, and compensation;therefore, it is important to explore a new rehabilitation method for ankle joint dysfunction.OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of computer-aided movable and measurable ankle-foot orthosis that designed by the Department of Rehabilitation in Longgang Central Hospital of Shenzhen on postoperative dysfunction after ankle fracture.METHODS: Fifty-two patients with ankle fractures at 3 weeks after internal fixation were selected and equivalently randomized into two groups. Both groups received conventional oral medication and rehabilitation therapy. In addition, the patients in control group were given joint mobilization treatment, while those in experimental group were given computer-aided movable and measurable of ankle-foot orthosis, 20 minutes daily, 6 days weekly for consecutive 4 weeks. The efficacy was evaluated by muscle strength, active range of motion, Kofoed ankle score and visual analogue scale on computer at baseline, 7, 14, and 28 days after training.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) There were no significant differences in baseline data and ankle function scores between two groups before training (P > 0.05), and all above indicators were significantly improved in both two groups at 4 weeks after training (P < 0.05). (2) Compared with the control group, the muscle strength, Kofoed ankle score and visual analogue scale scores on computer in the experimental group were significantly improved at 7, 14 and 28 days after training (P < 0.05). (3) The active plantar flexion angle in the experimental group was significantly larger than that in the control group at 28 days after training (P < 0.05).The active plantar flexion and dorsiflexion angles at 7 and 14 days after training, and active dorsiflexion angle at 28 days after training did not differ significantly between two groups (P >0.05). To conclude, the unique ankle-foot orthosis can reduce postoperative pain, enhance muscle strength and improve ankle mobility after ankle fracture.

This article was aimed to study the effect of geniposide in hyperuricemia mice. Different doses (50, 100, 200 mg·kg-1) of geniposide were administrated to hyperuricemia mice induced by potassium oxonate by gavage for seven consecutive days. Then, serum uric acid (SUA), urinary uric acid (UUA) and the hepatic xanthine oxidase ac-tivities (XOD) of mice were detected. The results showed that the middle- and high-dose groups of geniposide re-duced the level of SUA significantly (P<0.01). It was concluded that geniposide can reduce the level of SUA in hy-peruricemia mice by promoting UUA excretion.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2020;39(5):505-508
Objective:To investigate the correlation between subclinical hypothyroidism(SCH)and the degree of coronary artery stenosis in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods:From March 2018 to September 2019, 138 patients undergoing coronary angiography in our hospital were randomly selected and their serum thyroxine(FT4)and high-sensitivity thyroid stimulating hormone(sTSH)levels were measured.Based on the levels of FT4 and sTSH, patients were divided into the SCH group and the normal group.Combined with coronary angiography results, the correlation between the SCH and the number of coronary lesions were analyzed. Results:Patients in the SCH group were associated with significantly higher levels of cholesterol(TC)[(5.83±1.27)mmol/L vs.(5.02±1.22)mmol/L, t=3.746, P=0.000], triglyceride(TG)[(3.29±1.74)mmol/L vs.(2.17±1.68)mmol/L, t=3.769, P=0.000], low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)[(3.81±1.02)mmol/L vs.(3.24±1.08)mmol/L, t=3.092, P=0.001], and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)[(1.13±0.27)mmol/L vs.(1.02±0.25)mmol/L, t=2.4459, P=0.008]than those in the normal group. There were significant differences in sTSH levels between patients with multivessel, double vessel or single vessel disease when grouped by the number of coronary lesions, and between those with severe, moderate or mild coronary artery stenosis when grouped by disease severity(all P<0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that SCH, TC, and LDL-C were factors affecting the number of coronary lesions( P<0.05). Conclusions:SCH is an important factor that causes the occurrence and progression of coronary artery stenosis in patients with coronary heart disease, mainly by affecting lipid metabolism.
