Objective To investigate the depression after stroke in middle-aged patients and discuss the mental nursing.Methods Self-Rating Depression Scale was used to find 30 depression patients from 52 patients with stroke.They were analyzed and accepted mental nursing.Results The rate of depression mental state patients in 52 patients is 57.69%.After accepting mental nursing,the number of unsociability,morose and fatigue decreased,while that of role adaptation and self-confident increased significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion There is high incidence of depression in middle-aged patients with stroke.Mental nursing is helpful improve their adaptation and quality of living.

ObjectiveTo compare the appearance of abnormal lipid accumulation in skeletal muscle fibers in various neuromuscular disorders by analyzing the results of Oil-Red-O staining of muscle biopsy samples. Methods523 muscle biopsies performed in 1998—2002,consisted of lipid storage myopathy, mitochondrial diseases, inflammatory myopathy, muscular dystrophy, steroid myopathy, alcoholic myopathy and neurogenic muscle atrophy,were studed. ResultsType Ⅰ fibers were selectively involved in lipid storage of muscle fibers.In all diseases, men were more frequently affected than momen in which men to women was 3∶2.Marked uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found most frequently in patients with lipid storage myopathy and mitochondrien-lipid-glycogene storage diseases. Moderate uniformity lipid storage in the muscle fibers was found in patients with steroid myopathy, alcoholic myopathy and malnutrition. Moderate or marked non-uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in patients with mitochondrial cytopathy, inflammatory myopathy, muscular dystrophy. Moderate non-uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in patients with neurogenic muscle atrophy. Mild lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in numerous systemic disease and neuromuscular disorders. ConclusionNumerous neuromuscular diseases can associated with abnormal lipid metabolism in muscle fibers, in which the men are more involved than women. The appearance of lipid accumulation in the muscle fibers markedly changes in different neuromuscular diseases. The diagnostic value of lipid storage in muscle fibers should be considered under analysis clinical symptoms and other myopathological findings.

Objective: To observe the effects of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) on the spatial learning ability/memory and dopaminergic neurons in the Nigra of senescence accelerated-prone 8 (SAMP8) mice. Methods: Three-month old male SAMP8 mice were injected with MPTP (36 mg/ kg,s. c.) for 5 days,and animals in the control group were injected with NS (36 ml/kg, s. c.) in the same manner. Morris water maze was used to examine the searching strategy, seeking-platform latency,and the swimming time in the aimed quadrant. Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the changes of TH-ir positive neurons in substantia nigra. Results: The number of TH-ir neurons in substantia nigra pars compacta was significantly reduced in MPTP group compared with the control group(P<0.01). Morris water maze showed that the searching strategy of animals in MPTP group was worse than in the control group, with the seeking-platform latency of MPTP mice significantly prolonged (P<0.01), the time spent in the aimed quadrant significantly decreased (P<0.01) and time in the opposite quadrant significantly prolonged (P<0.05). Conclusion: MPTP can cause damage to the dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of SAMP8 mice,which is subsequently followed by deficit in the spatial learning and memory in the animals.

The adaptable change of neuroendocrine system in exercise quicken up fat to burn more. Leptine is an important signal of measuring fat content of body. The relationship between adiposity and leptin, and the effect of exercise on leptin was reviewed in this paper.

A strain of resistance to copper and cadmium with high concentration, named NTG-01, was isolated from soils of DaYe county mineral area in HuBei province. It can resist copper of 4.5mmol/L and cadmium of 2mmol/L , so we can say that it is a important strain used to study the resistance mechanism of copper and cadmium. A series of morphological and biochemical characteristics and sequences analysis of 16S rDNA reveal that it belongs to the bacteria and is gram negative, short rod, flagella around, the size of bacteria is about 0.8?m?2.0?m , V-P result shows positive, methyl-red result displays negative, and glucose can be utilized to produce acid and gas; In addition to, we find that it has the percent 99 homologous to Enterobacteraerogenes by 16S rDNA sequences BLAST analysis, plus the results of morphological and biochemical parameters, it belongs to Enterobacteraerogenes. We can conclude that NTG-01 has higher resistance to many different heavy metals by measuring MICs values of nine heavy metals at last.

AIM:To analyze the accuracy and the influencing factors of LAMBDA100 retinometer in predicting the visual acuity of cataract patients with high axial myopia after phacoemulsification.METHODS: The retinal visual acuity was measured in 91 patients with 91 cataract eyes by LAMBDA100, and compared with the best corrected visual acuity 2wk after operations.If differences of predictive visual acuity and postoperative visual acuity between the two logarithmic visual acuity chart was within 2 lines, it was considered consistent.RESULTS: The total compliance rate was 62%, the false positive rate was 2%,the false negative rate was 36%.The predictive accuracy was affected by lens opacity, the deeper opacity, the lower accuracy.The predictive accuracy of eye with axial length ≥32mm was significantly lower than that of eye with axial length <32mm, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The predictive accuracy rate of group that preoperative best corrected visual acuity was ≥4.0 was 75%;the predictive accuracy rate of group that preoperative best corrected visual acuity was <4.0 was 49%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: LAMBDA100 can be used as an assistant tool for predicting postoperative visual acuity in immature stage cataract of patients with high myopia.The eye axial length, the degree of visual acuity and lens opacity can influence the predicting accuracy.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between damages of visual field and retinal nerve fibre layer(RNFL)thickness in primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)with high myopia.Design Retrospective,case-controlled study.Participants POAG group with high myopia(21 eyes of 17 cases),POAG group with non-high myopia(17 eyes of 16 cases),high myopia group without POAG(25 eyes of 20 cases)and normal control group(19 eyes of 17 cases).Methods The static central visual fields were tested with Humphrey 750 automated perimetry and thickness of RNFL was measured with optical coherent tomography(OCT).Main Outcome Measures Mean deviation(MD),pattern standard deviation(PSD)and mean sensitivity at upper,lower,nasal and temporal quadrants in total deviation probability plots.Thickness of RNFL at upper,lower,nasal and temporal quadrants.Results There were more obvious general depression of sensitivity in total deviation probability plots of the early POAG with high myopia than those of POAG without high myopia,and the early visual field defects of glaucoma in pattern deviation probability plots of this group.MD of POAG with high myopia was more than those of others(P＜0.05).The differences of MD,PSD and mean sensitivity between POAG with high myopia and others were significant(P＜0.05).Mean sensitivities in each quadrant of POAG without high myopia were similar to those of high myopia(P＞0.05).The thickness of RNFL of POAG with high myopia was thinner than those of others and the thickness of RNFL of normality was thicker than that of others.The correlationship between mean sensitivity and the thickness of RNFL in each quadrant was significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Pattern deviation probability plots is an important favor for judgement of the visual field changes in POAG with high myopia.The relationship between RNFL thickness with OCT and visual field damage may provide clinically relevant information in diagnosis of POAG with high myopia

Objective To report the spectrum of electron transfer flavoprotein dehydrogenase (ETFDH)gene mutations in 20 Chinese RR-LsM families.Methods Twenty-four RR-LSM patients in the First Hospital of Peking University from January 2003 to May 2010 were collected and the clinical characteristics were analyzed.These patients came from 20 families in North Mainland China.Sixteen families had 1 patient each.and the other 4 families had 2 patients.ETFDH gene analysis was performed in all patients,11 family members and 100 healthy controls.Results The mean onset age was(27.9±9.9)years.The main symptoms were limb weakness(21,87.5%),dysmasesia(15,62.5%),neck weakness (14,58.3%)and myalgia(14,58.3%).Eighteen patients had high level of acyleamitine.Fifteen of 17patients had glutaric aciduria.Seventeen ETFDH mutations,including 13 missense mutations,2 splice mutations,and 2 nonsense mutations,were identified in 19 families:c.998A>G,c.1450T>C,c.1703T>C,c.1717C>T,c.821G>A,c.643G>A,c.251C>T,c.1763A>T,c.IVS7+2T>C and c.IVS6+1G>A were Hovel mutations which were not found in 100 healthy controls.Nine families had the mutation of c.770A>G(P.Y257C)and 5 families had the mutation of c.1227A>C(P.L409F).Conclusions The numerous novel mutations in ETFDH gene indicate that Chinese RR-LSM might have special mutation pattern.c.770A>G(P.Y257C)and c.1227A>C(p.L409F)may be hot spot mutations in North Mainland China.

The current study was designed to investigate the effects of PPMP (DL-threo-1-phenyl-2- palmitoylamino-3-morpholino-1-propanol), a kind of glycolipids synthase inhibitor, on the modulation of mdr1 mRNA expression and the reversing effect of multi-drug resistance by PPMP in human malignancy KBv 200cell line. In vitro KBv 200 cells were treated with PPMP in different concentration, the alterations of mRNA expression of drug-resistant gene mdr1 in KB (sensitive cell line) and KBv 200 (before and after the treatment of PPMP) cells were analyzed by RT-PCR. Intracellular rhodamine(Rh123) concentration was measured by flow cytometry. PPMP was found to inhibit mdr1 gene expression of KBv 200 at the mRNA level, and complete inhibition appeared at 25?mol/L PPMP treatment for 48h. PPMP could increase intracellular Rh123 accumulation in resistant cell lines. This modulation of gene expression and Rh123 accumulation was directly correlated with the concentration of PPMP. It suggested that PPMP, a chemical inhibitor of glycolipids synthase, could modulate mdr1 expression at the mRNA level in a content dependent manner, PPMP possesses MDR-reversing activity.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of MRI on Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease(CJD).Methods The imaging data of 15 patients with CJD were analyzed retrospectively.Results In the 15 cases,the diagnosis was clinical probable CJD 10 cases,maybe CJD 5 cases.There was no abnormal signal found by routine T 1WI and T 2WI scanning in the 15 cases.DWI showed that 10 cases had hyperintense abnormalities in both the cerebral cortex and the striatum,5 cases had hyperintense abnormalities only in the cerebral cortex.The hyperintense abnormalities were symmetric in 8 cases,but were asymmetric in the other 7 cases.1H-MRS were applied in the 4 cases and showed that N-acetylas partate(NAA),NAA/creatine(Cr) were decreased to some extent.Choline(Cho),Cho/Cr were decreased in 2 cases and increased in 2 cases.mI peak did not appear in all 4 cases.Conclusion MRI,especially DWI and 1H-MRS give can valuable information in detecting and diagnosing CJD early.
