Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2016;23(6):31-34
Objective To discuss the application effect of TCM constitution recognition on TCM chronic disease refining health management for type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Totally 140 outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from Chaoyangmen Community Health Center were selected and divided evenly into two groups after TCM constitution assessment. The study lasted for 2 years (1st August 2013–31st July 2015). The control group (70 cases) received diabetes community health management. In addition to routine community health management, TCM constitutional management was also administrated in the intervention group. The latter group received medicine, food, sport guidance according to the results of TCM constitution assessment. The blood glucose, blood lipid, BMI and waist-hip ratio of the two groups were monitored, and the self-management and life quality of patients were evaluated. Results After the intervention, significant improvement was found for fasting blood glucose, 2 h postprandial blood glucose, BMI, waist-hip ratio and blood lipid both in the control group and the intervention group, and the improvement in the intervention group was more obvious than the control group (P<0.05). The whole level of self-management and life quality was greatly increased in both groups, while improvement of the intervention group was much higher than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Integrated application of TCM constitutional theory in TCM chronic disease refining health management for type 2 diabetes mellitus will contribute to improving patients’ self-management, changing their clinical symptoms and finally improving their life quality.
3.Effects of different fungi on symbiotic seed germination of two Dendrobium species.
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(17):3238-3244
The epiphytic orchid, Dendrobium aphyllum and D. devonianum are used as traditional Chinese medicine, and became locally endangered in recent years because of over-collection. We test the effect of inoculations of endophytic fungi FDaI7 (Tulasnella sp.), FDd1 (Epulorhiza sp. ) and FCb4 (Epulorhiza sp.), which isolated from D. aphyllum, D. denonianum and Cymbidium mannii, respectively, on artificial substrate in these two Dendrobium species. In the symbiotic germination experiment, FDaI7 and FDd1 were effective for protocorm formation and seedling development of D. aphyllum and D. denonianum separately. After 60 days, 14.46% of the D. aphyllum seeds grown to protocorms and 12.07% developed to seedlings inoculated only with FDaI7, while contrasted with 0 when inoculated the other two isolates and non-inoculation treatment. However, in D. denonianum, seeds only grown to protocorms and developed to seedlings when inoculated with FDd1, the percentages were 44.36% and 42.91% distinguishingly. High specificity was shown in symbiotic germination on artificial substrate of Dendrobium. Protocorms could further develop to seedlings within or without light when inoculated the compatible fungi. However, light condition (12/12 h Light/Dark) produced the normal seedlings, while dark condition (0/24 h L/D) produced the abnormal seedlings. These may suggest that the development of young seedlings require light based on the effective symbiotic fungi. These findings will aid in seedling production of simulation-forestry ecology cultivation, conservation and reintroduction of Dendrobium.

Objective To investigate the safety and feasibility of early removal of chest tubes after video-assisted thoracoscopic (VAST) lobectomy for lung cancer. Methods A retrospective study was performed based on the clinical data of sixty consecutive patients who underwent VATS lobectomy plus mediastinal lymph nodes dissection for lung cancer from October 2013 to September 2014 in a single center. Thirty patients were enrolled into the early removal management group (chest tubes removal when the drainage volume is less than 300 mL/d), while the other thirty patients were enrolled into the traditional management group (chest tubes removal at the drainage volume less than 100 mL/d ). Results Patients who underwent early removal management had a shorter time of chest tubes removal and postoperative hospital stay compared to the patients in the traditional management group [(2.10 ± 0.99) d vs. (3.83 ± 1.41) d, t = 5.485, P = 0.000; (7.97 ± 1.54) d vs. (9.20 ± 2.01)d, t = 2.669, P = 0.010)]. No statistically significant differences were observed among the drainage volume, postoperative complications and symptoms on fifteen days post-operation. No complication occurred on thirty days post-operation. Conclusions Early removal of the chest tubes after VATS lobectomy ,when the drainage volume is less than 300 mL/d,is safe and feasible. This leads to a shorter length of hospital stay without addtional risk of early postoperative complications.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
Objective To study the antitumour, immunomodulating and enterobacteria regulating effects of exopolysaccharides (EPS). Method The suppressive rate of growth of sarcoma 180, the index of immunity, and the intestinal microflora were determined. Results (1) EPS inhibited the growth of sarcoma 180 by oral for BALB/c mice significantly. The suppressive rate at the dose of 120mg/kg bw?d was 42.7%. (2) At the dose of 120mg/kg bw?d the index of thymus and IL-2 in serum increased significantly. There was increasing trend in respect of TNF-? and killing activation of NK cell. (3) The amounts of Lactobacillus in groups treated with EPS increased significantly, and the amounts of Enterobacteriacea and Enterococcus droped significantly. Conclusion EPS had the antitumour effect in vivo, and could modulate the immune function, improve the microbial balance in the intestinal tract of tumour bearing mice to some extent. So the antitumour mechanism was probably correlated with the immunomodulating effect.

Chinese Circulation Journal 2015;(2):136-139
Objective: To investigate the relationship between arterial stiffness and variability of blood pressure (BPV) in senile patients with hypertension.
Methods: A total of 234 senile patients with hypertension were enrolled. The patients were examined by 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), BPV was identified by the standard deviation (SD) of blood pressure value. Based on increased percentage of baPWV, the patients were divided into 4 groups: Normal artery group, n=44, Mild arterial stiff group, n=72, Moderate arterial stiff group, n=78 and Severe arterial stiff group, n=40. The 24h ABPM results, BPV, biochemical indexes and their relationship to baPWV were compared among different groups.
Results:①The HDL-C level and 24hDBP, dDBP, 24hSBPSD, 24hDBPSD, dSBPSD, dDBPSD, nDBPSD were significantly different among each group, all P<0.05.②The increased percentage of baPWV was positively related to the age and 24hSBPSD, 24hDBPSD, dSBPSD, dDBPSD, nDBPSD, while negatively related to HDL-C level, all P<0.05.③The age and 24hSBPSD, 24hDBPSD, dSBPSD were the independent risk factors for baPWV elevation.
Conclusion: The arterial stiffness was closely related to BPV in senile patients with hypertension.

The Journal of Clinical Anesthesiology 2001;17(4):177-179
Objective To study the relationship of implicit memory and amnesia effect of oral midazolarn premedication and toobserve its anterograde amnesia, the effect on short-term memory and the onset time and out come of retrograde amnesia. Methods60 patients with ASA I - Ⅱ status undergoing abdomen and limb operations were divided into 3 groups with 20 cases each. Group A:oral midazolam 7.5mg;Group B:oral 15mg;Group C:placebo. The patients received combined spinal-epidural anesthesia after oral midazolam. The parameterns of EEG, SEF 95 %, BISwere collected at the same time and the degree and remark of sedation were dome according to OAA/S. The amnesia and implicit memory were investigated with pictures and muddy identified hearing rate 6 hours after operation. Results (1)Twenty min following drug ad dministration the remarks of sedation of group A and B were significantly loWver than that before and that of group C, Which was not significently different between group A and B. ( 2)The amnesia rates tested six hrs after surgery were significantly higher at 30min in group A, 20min in group B than those before treatment and were kept at 70%-80% levels, which in group C was remained zero. (3)The muddy identified hearing rate was not different significantly, among the three groups. (4) The short-term memory was all 100%during the period of drug action. (5)BIS and SEF 95% Were lower 30min after the treatment and all kept at 80 Hz and 20 Hz, which were not different remarkably between group A and B. ConclnsionOral midazolam 7. 5mg has a good effect on anterograde amnesia 30min after treatment, which may not be improved with increament in dosage. It does not lead to retrograde amnesia. The long-term memory, but not short-term memory, was impaired by midazolam. It only affects the explicit memory. Oral premnedication with midazolam can not prevent the awareness during operation totally.
