International Journal of Surgery 2011;38(4):238-240
Objective To investigate the relationship between body mass index(BMI) and the outcomes of liver function of patients with hepatocarcinoma after surgery. Methods We divided the patients into three groups: normal, overweight and obese groups based on BMI, then we recorded their preoperative and the postoperative liver functions: albumin, total bilirubin, alanine aminotrasferase(ALT), aspertate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP), γ-glutamyltranoferase(γ-GGT), triglycerides(TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein(HDL) and low density lipoprotein(LDL). Results The mean values of ALT change between the preoperative and the postoperative were (14.9 ± 1.98) U/L, (15.4 ± 2.27) U/L,(22.2±1.32) U/L; Mean values of γ-GGT change were(16.2 ± 1.33) U/L, (18.7 ±0. 97) U/L,(22.3 ± 1.27) U/L; mean values of TG change were (0. 18 ± 0. 44) mg/dL, (0. 21 ± 0.08) mg/dL,(0.25 ± 0.03) mg/dL. Compared with the results of control groups, there were no significant differences of recovery of liver functions between normal and overweight groups(P > 0. 05), but the obese group' s recovery of liver functions did lag behind the normal group (P < 0.05). It is showed that the obese group' s shared same recovery of albumin, total bilirubin, AST, ALP, TC, HDL and LDL. The difference was significant between the normal and obese groups in terms of recovery of ALT, γ-GGT, TG(P < 0. 05). Conclusion BMI is associated with the recovery of liver function of patients with hepatocarcinoma, the obese patients have poor prognosis of recovery of liver function.

Conclusion Perceptual priming is not only concerned with occipital lobe, but also with frontal and temporal lobes possibly.
7.Appearance of lipid storage in muscle fiber in neuromuscular disorders
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(3):185-187
ObjectiveTo compare the appearance of abnormal lipid accumulation in skeletal muscle fibers in various neuromuscular disorders by analyzing the results of Oil-Red-O staining of muscle biopsy samples. Methods523 muscle biopsies performed in 1998—2002,consisted of lipid storage myopathy, mitochondrial diseases, inflammatory myopathy, muscular dystrophy, steroid myopathy, alcoholic myopathy and neurogenic muscle atrophy, were studed. ResultsType Ⅰ fibers were selectively involved in lipid storage of muscle fibers. In all diseases, men were more frequently affected than momen in which men to women was 3∶2.Marked uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found most frequently in patients with lipid storage myopathy and mitochondrien-lipid-glycogene storage diseases. Moderate uniformity lipid storage in the muscle fibers was found in patients with steroid myopathy, alcoholic myopathy and malnutrition. Moderate or marked non-uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in patients with mitochondrial cytopathy, inflammatory myopathy, muscular dystrophy. Moderate non-uniformity lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in patients with neurogenic muscle atrophy. Mild lipid storage in muscle fibers was found in numerous systemic disease and neuromuscular disorders. ConclusionNumerous neuromuscular diseases can associated with abnormal lipid metabolism in muscle fibers, in which the men are more involved than women. The appearance of lipid accumulation in the muscle fibers markedly changes in different neuromuscular diseases. The diagnostic value of lipid storage in muscle fibers should be considered under analysis clinical symptoms and other myopathological findings.
8.Roles of depression and C-reaction protein in early development of cardiovascular disease in the elderly diabetes patients
Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2012;31(8):649-652
Objective To investigate the role of depression and C-reaction protein (CRP)in the early development of vascular disease in the elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods Totally 396 patients with type 2 diabetes were recruited in the study, including 196 cases with depression and 200 cases without depression.Depression was evaluated by Hamilton depression scale (HAMD),and CRP was measured using rate nephelometry. The related parameters of wave intensity (WI) such as accelerating wave intensity (W1),decelerating wave intensity (W2),arterial stiffness β,pressure-strain elasticity modulus (Ep),arterial compliance (AC),pulse wave velocity -wave intensity(PWVWI),pulse wave velocity (PWV) and argumentation index (AI) were detected and compared between the groups. Results The levels of CRP [(8.1±2.8)mg/L vs. (3.9±3.2) mg/L,t=6.411,P=0.000],W2 [(4.82±1.33) mm Hg· m-1 · s-3 vs.(2.27±1.28)mm Hg · m-1 · s-3,t=4.256,P=0.021],arterial stiffness β(12.58±3.23 vs.8.96±2.24,t=4.634,P=0.019),Ep (157.90±52.64 vs.118.24±53.08,t=5.512,P=0.007),PWVβ(7.53± 1.41 vs.6.68±1.56,t=3.982,P=0.024),AI(19.26± 13.21 vs.15.34±10.23,t=3.213,P=0.037)and PWV-WI (7.59±1.67vs.6.63± 1.45,t =2.613,P =0.046) in cases with depression were higher than the cases without depression, while the AC value was reduced (0.70±0.19 vs.0.78±0.21,t=4.676,P =0.017).There was no difference in W1 value between the groups. The CRP level and HAMD score were positively associated with W2 (r=0.470,P=0.000),stiffness β (r=0.582,P=0.000),Ep (r=0.352,P=0.004),PWV-WI (r=0.233,P=0.019),PWVβ (r=0.340,P=0.007) and AI (r=0.265,P=0.015),but negatively related with AC(r=-0.457,P=0.000).HAMD score was positively correlated with CRP level(r=0.328,P=0.003). Conclusions The carotid artery wave intensity W2,blood vessel elasticity parameter β,Ep,AC,PWV-WI,PWVβ and AI determination can evaluate the risk of cardiovascular diseases in elderly diabetes, and higher CRP level and HAMD score may deteriorate its process.

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2001;25(1):39-41,74
Objective: To establish the yeast expression system for oncostatin M (OSM). Methods:The cDNA encoding human OSM was inserted into pPIC9K vector and transformed into Pichia pastoris. The correct phenotype of recombinants was screened through MD and MM auxotrophic culture medium. The OSM mRNA transcription in the P.pastoris and molecular weight were identified with Northern blot and Western blot. MTT method was used to test the activity of OSM in inhibiting the growth of human melanoma cells. Results: Established P.pastoris system could accomplish human OSM secreting expression. The recombinant OSM with a 30 000 molecular weight amounted to 70% of the total protein in medium supernatant. The OSM showed an inhibitory effect on the growth of A375 cells in vitro. Conclusions:The P.pastoris system of OSM was proved effective with a high expressing level. The secreted recombinant OSM present in supernatant of culture medium would be easy to be purified. It may lay the foundation for the large-scale preparation of OSM in future.
