Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1999;0(12):-
Totally 896 medical records were statistically analyzed from Jan. 1, ] 998 to Dec. 31 , 2001. There were 65 cases (7. 3%,65/896) of ischemic cardiomyopathy .of which 38 cases (58. 5% .38/65) were myocardial infarction in small area, 27 cases(41. 5% ,27/65) were in large area. The causes of ischemic cardiomyopathy were lack of blood supply in cardiac cells for a long time and pathological changes in branches of coronary artery. If myocardial infarction in small area occurred, the blood vessels should be opened again in acute period, and the risk factors must be prevented and treated.

Objective To observe the protective effect of asiatic acid on hyperlipidemia golden hamsters induced by high fat diet and explore its mechanism. Methods Hyperlipidemic golden hamsters fed with high-fat diet were administered orally with asiatic acid (8,16,32 mg/kg)for 4 weeks.Levels of serum lipid content, liver histology, hepatic GSH-PX and SOD levels, serum ALT and AST activities were evaluated in golden hamsters, fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)is using to examine the liver lecithin cholesterol fatty acyl transferase(LCAT) and class B typeⅠscavenger receptor(SR-BⅠ)mRNA expression. Results Compared with model group, the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,TC/HDL,ALT and AST in low and mediate asiatic acid groups were all significantly decreased but the levels of SOD and GSH-PX were significantly increased(P<0.01).HE staining results showed that fat deposition in the liver were improved by administration of asiatic acid, and the expression of LCAT and SR-BⅠmRNA were increased. Conclusion Asiatic acid can effectively reduce blood lipid levels, and alleviate liver damage of the hyperlipidemia golden hamsters by lipid regulation and antioxidative ability augmentation. The increased levels of LCAT and SR-BⅠmRNA expression maybe involved in the mechanism of hypolipidaemic effect of asiatic acid.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of panax notoginsenosides (PNS) on the proliferation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) in mice with immune-mediated aplastic anemia.
METHODSBalb/c mice model of immune-mediated aplastic anemia was established by radiation with sublethal dose of 60Co following the intravenously infusing lymphocytes of DBA/2 mice. Model mice in the treated groups were treated separately with high, middle and low dose of PNS, 3.2 mg, 1.6 mg and 0.8 mg per day respectively by intraperitoneal injection. Model mice in the control group and normal mice in the normal control group were treated with normal saline. The peripheral white blood cell (WBC) count and pathological examination of bone marrow were carried out 12 days later, the bone marrow was taken to be incubated in semi-solid culture system for observing proliferation of HPC.
RESULTSPNS could (1) increase peripheral WBC count: as compared with that in the model control, WBC in the high, middle and low dose PNS groups was raised by (34.3 +/- 2.9)%, (29.2 +/- 1.7)% and (14.5 +/- 1.6)% respectively, P < 0.01 and P < 0.05; (2) improve the bone marrow inhibition: pathological examination showed in the model group, the hematopoietic structure was destroyed and replaced by fatty tissue, while in the PNS treated groups, the structure of marrow was rather complete and filled with abundant hematopoietic cells; (3) promote the proliferation of HPC: as compared with the model group, the colony formation of CFU-GM were increased by (64.4 +/- 2.8)%, (67.3 +/- 2.4)% and (21.9 +/- 1.8)% respectively and that of CFU-E increased by (31.9 +/- 3.6)%, (20.7 +/- 2.4)% and (12.8 +/- 2.6)% respectively in the three PNS treated group (P < 0.01 and P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONPNS could enhance hematopoiesis by promoting proliferation of CFU-GM and CFU-E progenitors so as to improve the hematopoietic function in mice of immune-mediated aplastic anemia.

Abstract? AIM: To evaluate the characteristic of choroidal thickness ( CT ) in highly myopic glaucoma eyes, and investigate the factors that affect the CT in various regions of the macula.?METHODS: Thirty -two highly myopic eyes of 18 patients with primary open angle glaucoma ( POAG ) , 36 non-highly myopic eyes of 20 patients with POAG, and 33 non -glaucoma highly myopic eyes of 21 matched volunteers were enrolled.CT at subfoveal, and 1mm and 3mm nasal, temporal, superior, and inferior to the fovea was measured using enhanced depth imaging coherence tomography. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed to detect the effects of diagnosis, spherical equivalent ( SE) , age, intraocular pressure ( IOP) , central corneal thickness ( CCT ) , and mean deviation ( MD ) of visual field defect on CT at all measured points.?RESULTS:The choroid of highly myopic glaucoma eyes was statistically thinner than non -highly myopic glaucoma eyes at various locations (all P<0.05), while there was no significant difference between highly myopic glaucoma and non-glaucoma high myopia eyes at all locations ( all P >0.05 ). Multiple regression analysis showed that SE was the most influential factor on CT in all regions of the macula, and CT varied significantly with age in 3mm superior to fovea ( S3CT ), but not with diagnosis, MD of visual field defect, IOP, or CCT.? CONCLUSION: CT in highly myopic glaucoma is equivalent in comparison with non -glaucoma highly myopia, although it's thinner than that in glaucoma eyes without high myopia. This implies the lack of association between CT and progression of glaucomatous optic neuropathy.

Patients with hypoxia pulmonary hypertension (HPH) are often accompanied by dyspnea, fatigue, and headache. With the development of the disease, the right ventricle gradually collapses and eventually leads to death. Hypoxic pulmonary vascular remodeling is an important pathological basis of HPH, and the remodeled pulmonary vessels will form permanent thickening. The mechanism of hypoxic pulmonary vascular remodeling is relatively complex. At present, there are few studies on drugs for pulmonary vascular remodeling on the market, mainly focusing on the alleviation of pulmonary vasoconstriction. It was found that hypoxia induces calcium overload in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), resulting in the proliferation of PASMCs. The main mechanisms include: ① abnormal expression of calcium pumps; ② abnormal calcium channels in the plasma membrane of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells; ③ overexpression of calcium-sensitive receptors in cells; ④ the expression of Na+/Ca2+ exchanger type-1 was abnormal. This review summarized several mechanisms of hypoxia induced calcium overload leading to pulmonary artery remodeling, hoping to provide a new idea for the treatment of HPH.
