Objective To analyze the quality of life (QOL) of mothers of children with cerebral palsy and it's influencing factors. Methods The QOL of 123 children with cerebral palsy and their mothers was assessed a 36-item short form health survey (SF-36) and basic questionnaires combined with interviews. The factors influencing QOL were analyzed with t-tests and one way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis was used to determine the main influencing factors. Results Scores on all of the SF-36 items were much lower for mothers of children with cerebral palsy than for mothers of normal children.Average scores in the domains of emotional health, general health and vitality were the lowest (55.28,60.49 and 65.26 respectively).Correlation analysis showed that general health, physical function and role emotions were positively correlated with the child's age.All domains except pain were negatively correlated with the child's condition.Social functioning was positively correlated with the mother's age.The general health, role emotional, social function, and mental health scores were all negatively correlated with the mother's education level.Univariate analysis showed that the child's age and condition, the mother's education level and occupation, and the father's occupation all significantly predicted the mother's QOL.Multivariate regression analysis confirmed that the child's age and the father's occupation had significant predictive power. Conclusions The QOL of the mother of a child with cerebral palsy is mainly influenced by the child's age and condition, the mother's education level and occupation, and the father's occupation.Comprehensive and effective measures should be taken to improve the QOL of mothers of children with cerebral palsy and to improve the efficacy of rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy.

0.05) between two groups in the above results.Disc agar diffusion test showed the sensitivity rates of overall clinical isolates to gatifloxacin and levofloxacin were 97.56% and 92.68%,respectively.The incidence of adverse drug reactions(ADR) of two groups were 23.91% and 43.75%,respectively.In 5 cases severe ADR were found. CONCLUSIONS Sequential therapy of gatifloxacin may get satisfactory results in lower respiratory tract infections of elder people. The irrational use of drugs is an important factor to increase ADR(including collateral damage). So we should pay attention to the ADR and grasp the indications strictly and use the drugs appropriately, especially for the elder patients.

Objective To investigate the biocompatibility of bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs) of mice in vitro with silk fibroin materials and to explore a novel scaffold material to fabricate tissue-engineered nerve with introduction of BMSCs.Methods BMSCs were typically isolated from other cells by adherence to plastic. The mice-derived bone marrow stromal cells were cultured on the substrate of silk fibroin fibers and the cell attachment and growth during culture was observed by using light and electron microscopy.Mice-derived BMSCs were also cultured in the silk fibroin extract fluid. The cell ultrastructure was observed by transmission electron microscopy.MTT test was used to detect cell viability in different media for 12,24,48,72 hours and 7 days respectively(the test was repeated 12 times for each group).Flow cytometry was employed to detect BMSCs cell cycle and phenotypes(the test was repeated 3 times). Results BMSCs cells were tightly attached to the silk fibroin fibers and grew along the silk fibroin fibers;some of them enwrapped the silk fibroin fibers and they exhibited either a spherical or spindle shape. The results of transmission electron microscopy,MTT test and flow cytometry analysis showed that there was no significant difference between BMSCs cultured in the silk fibroin extract fluid and those in plain IMDM medium in their morphology, cell viability, proliferation and phenotypes. Conclusion These data indicate that silk fibroin has good biocompatibility with BMSCs and is also beneficial to the survival of BMSCs without exerting any significant cytotoxic effects on their phenotype;thus it's a potential scaffold material to fabricate tissue-engineered nerve with introduction of BMSCs.

AIM: To find out whether traditional Chinese medicine Angelicae Sinensis has direct suppressive effect on schistosome egg-induced granulomatous response. METHODS: The lung model of granuloma response was established by injecting living eggs of Schistosoma japonicum into the tail veins of eggs-sensitized mice then the preparation of Angelicae Sinensis were given intraperitoneally once a day for ten days. In vitro model of granulomatous reaction was set up by incubating dry schistosome eggs together with those splenocytes isolated from schistosome infected-mice or from the mice with pulmonary granuloma formation. Different doses of the preparation was, in the need of experiment, added to culture fluid. The sizes of granulomas formed surrounding single egg in lungs or the intensity of in vitro granulomatous responses were measured and observed. RESULTS: The average diameter of pulmonary granulomas in administered group was significantly smaller than that of the control ( P

Objective To study the effect of SKF96365 and NiCl2 on cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) induced intracellular calcium cation concentration ([Ca2+ ]i ) change in rat distal pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMC) .Methods The rat distal PASMC were isolated and cultured .The effects of CPA ,SKF96365 and NiCl2 on [Ca2+ ]i in PASMC were tested by fluorescence microscope and InCyte [Ca2+ ]i measurement system .Results PASMC were incubated with Ca2+‐free Krebs solution containing 5μmol/L nifedipine ,10 μmol/L CPA caused a small transient increase in [Ca2+ ]i ;after restoration of extracellular Ca2+ to 2 .5 mmol/L ,10 μmol/L CPA caused marked increases in [Ca2+ ]i in PASMC incubated with Krebs solution containing 5 μmol/L nife‐dipine .Both 50 μmol/L SKF96365 and 500 μmol/L NiCl2 distinctly attenuated the increases in [Ca2+ ]i caused by 10 μmol/L CPA in PASMC .However ,neither 50 μmol/L SKF96365 nor 500 μmol/L NiCl2 affected the increases in [Ca2+ ]i caused by 60 mmol/L KCl in PASMC .Conclusion CPA induced increases in [Ca2+ ]i may related to Ca2+ release from sarcoplasmic reticulum and the in‐flux of Ca2+ through store‐operated Ca2+ channels (SOCC) in rat distal PASMC .Both SKF96365 and NiCl2 could selectively block SOCC and attenuated the influx of Ca2+ through SOCC in PASMC .

Objective To establish an HPLC method for determination of low-molecular-weight carbonyl compounds in the oil-containing herbs. Methods After carbonyl compounds in the samples were extracted with water, the solution reacted with 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) in an acidic medium to form 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazone derivatives, which were separated on Kromasil KR100-5 C18 column (250 mm× 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase A was water-acetonitrile-tetrahydrofuran-isopropanol (59∶30∶10∶1), mobile phase B was water-acetonitrile (35∶65), gradient elution. The flow rate was 0.8 mL/min, detection wavelength was 365 nm, and column temperature was 30 ℃. Results Good linearities were obtained in corresponding concentration ranges, with correlation coefficient over 0.999. The limits of detection of the eight DNPH derivatives were 0.002-0.008 μg/mL, and the average recoveries were 88.49%-93.65%. Conclusion The method is simple, accurate and reliable, with good reproducibility.
