OBJECTIVE:To optimize the preparation technology of Ginkgo biloba extracts-hydroxyprop-?-cyclodextrin(GBE-HP-?-CD) inclusion compounds and to identify this inclusion compound.METHODS:The optimum preparation condition was studied by orthogonal test with encapsulation rate as the index of evaluation. The inclusion compounds were prepared with solution-agitating technique. The inclusion compounds were identified by phase solubility diagra-m,differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and infrared spectroscopy methods, respectively.RESULTS:The optimum inclusion condition was as follows:the ratio of GBE to HP-?-CD=1.5∶1;agitating time=6 h;inclusion temperature=50 ℃.CONCLUSION:It has been preliminarily proved that it is possible for Ginkgo biloba extracts and hydroxyprop-?-cyclodextrin to be made into inclusion compounds.HP-?-CD has satisfactory solublization on Ginkgo biloba extracts.

Methods Fourteen patients participated in the semi-structure interviews.Data were analyzed with Colaizzi′s phenomenologica l procedure. Results Based on the Corbin and Strauss chronic illness trajectory framework, experiences of patients prior to operation with recurrent glioma were extracted. (1) Illness-related work including severe symptoms of illness and lack of knowledge of illness. (2) Biographical work including loss of biography and identity of self. (3) Everyday life work including change of social roles, complicated mood combined negative experience and positive experience, heavy economic burden. Conclusions Nursing staff should attach importance to experiences of patients, and provide targeted interventions for successful operations and recovery of physical and spiritual healing.

BACKGROUND:Intertrochanteric fracture can obtain good curative effects after active effective internal fixation in early stage.
OBJECTIVE:To compare dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate and Gamma nail fixation for treatment of Evans type IIIB and type IV intertrochanteric fracture.
METHODS:A total of 67 patients with Evans type IIIB and type IV intertrochanteric fracture, including 28 cases undergoing dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate and 39 cases undergoing Gamma nail, were selected from Chongming Branch, Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from February 2009 to November 2012. Al patients received antibiotics and functional exercises after treatment. Time of therapy, intraoperative bleeding amount, fracture healing time and Harris Hip Score were retrospectively analyzed in patients of both groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al patients were fol owed up for 6-45 months, averagely 21 months. (1) One patient affected infection in the dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate group. He was healed after fixation removal half a year after drug exchange. One obese patient experienced injury again during out-of-bed activity at 3 weeks after treatment in the Gamma nail group. Fracture appeared at distal end of lock pin, and healed after replaced by Gamma nail. Trochanteric stabilizing plate was unstable in four patients of the Gamma nail group. They affected severe pneumonia after over 6 weeks of lying in bed, and healed after treatment in the medical department (2) Coxa vara appeared in two cases of the dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate group, and three cases in the Gamma nail group. Fracture healing was achieved in al patients. (3) The time of therapy was longer, and intraoperative bleeding amount was significantly more in the dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate group compared with the Gamma nail group (P<0.05). No significant difference in healing time and Harris Hip Score was detected between the two groups (P>0.05). Dynamic hip screw+trochanter stabilizing plate and Gamma nail are effective methods for treatment of Evans type IIIB and type IV intertrochanteric fracture. To choose a suitable fixator, we should aggregately analyze fracture stability, healing state and the degree of osteoporosis.

Objective To investigate the effects and possible mechanisms of the growth differentia-tion factor 15(GDF-15)/glial-derived neurotrophic factor receptor alpha-like(GFRAL)pathway on the progression of atherosclerosis in ApoE-/-mice.Methods Eight 8-week-old male ApoE-/-mice were randomly divided into control group and rGDF-15 group. The mice in the control group received an injection of phosphate-buffered saline via tail vein once a week after 4 weeks of high-fat diet feeding, and those in the rGDF-15 group received an injection of recombinant GDF-15(0.05 mg/kg)via tail vein once a week after 4 weeks of high-fat diet feeding. The mice were fed with high-fat diet for another 8 weeks, the body weight was monitored during this period. After 12 weeks'feeding, the mice were euthanized.Another 4 normal mice(at the same age,20 weeks old)were subjected and served as normal control group. The levels of fasting blood glucose, blood lip-ids,cortisol,and aldosterone were compared among the three groups.Oil red O staining was used to evaluate plaque size in the aorta, and immunohistochemistry was employed to assess the expression of GDF-15 and GFRAL in the brain tissue. Results The serum level of GDF-15 was higher in the rGDF-15 group than in the control group(52.59±2.90 ng/ml vs 20.09±1.27 ng/ml,P<0.01).The weight of mice was significantly lower in the rGDF-15 group than the con-trol group during Week 11(28.60±0.22 g vs 29.47±0.25 g,P<0.01)and 12(28.98±0.22 g vs 30.35±0.13 g,P<0.01).The rGDF-15 group had a statistically lower level of triglycerides(0.22±0.02 mmol/L vs 0.38±0.09 mmol/L,P<0.05),lighter plaque burden[(22.22±2.58)%vs(31.61±3.51)%,P<0.01],and enhanced expression levels of GDF-15 and GFRAL in the brain tissue(0.088±0.007 vs 0.030±0.006,0.031±0.003 vs 0.010±0.001,P<0.01).The levels of cor-tisol and aldosterone in the control group and rGDF-15 group were significantly higher than those in the normal group(P<0.01).The aldosterone level in the rGDF-15 group was significantly re-duced compared to the control group(22.013.67 mg/ml vs 87.29±8.63 mg/ml,P<0.01).Conclusion GDF-15 may regulate body weight and triglyceride and aldosterone levels through GFRAL,and then affect the progression of atherosclerosis.

Objective Tostudy the influence of pipe structures on the mixing uniformity of airborne effluents from nuclear power plant chimneys. Methods We used the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method to simulate the velocity distribution and gas mixing in long straight pipes (I type) with square section and circular section, 90° single-bend pipes (L type) with square section and circular section, and 90° double-bend pipes (S type and U type) with square section and circular section. Results For the long straight pipe, due to the lack of flow disturbance caused by structural changes, the mixing effect was not good; when the pipe section was circular, it might take mixing distance 20 times the hydraulic diameter to achieve the uniformity index required by the relevant standard; for the square pipe, the distance might be longer. In the single bend pipe with square section, the velocity uniformity was improved more greatly after the bend, and the tracer gas met the mixing uniformity at a shorter distance (11 times the hydraulic diameter), as compared with the single bend pipe with circular section. For the S-type double-bend pipe, the tracer gas appeared uniformly mixed after a distance 6 times the hydraulic diameter in the square pipe, and 7 times the hydraulic diameter in the circular pipe. For the U-type double-bend pipe, the gas in the square pipe also achieved uniform mixing ata shorter distance downstream, and the airflow showed greater disturbance when passing through the bend. Conclusion The CFD method can make an accurate prediction for the change patterns of gas mixing uniformity in pipes with different structures, and can partially replace physical experiments to study the factors affecting the mixing uniformity of airborne effluents from the chimney of nuclear power plants.
