Objective To investigate the expression of EphrinB2 and microvessel density(MVD) in colorectal carcinoma and to analyze the relationship between the expression of EphrinB2 and the biological characteristics of colorectal carcinoma. Methods EphrinB2 and MVD of 63 colorectal carcinoma diagnosed by pathology were examined by immunohistochemistry, and 25 specimens from normal colorectal tissue were examined as controls. Results The expression of EphrinB2 protein was 82.0 % (51/63) in colorectal carcinoma and 32.0 % (8/25) in the normal colorectal tissues, the difference was significant (P <0.05). Meanwhile, MVD was significantly higher in EphrinB2 positive group (39.39±8.97) than that in negative group (33.00 ±10.19) (P<0.05). The expression of EphrinB2 protein had significant positive correlation with differentiation grade, infiltration, lymph node metastases and clinical stage (P <0.05), and had no relation to age, sex, tumor size and location(P >0.05). Conclusion The EphrinB2 protein expression increase may be involved in development of colorectal carcinoma and play important roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of colorectal carcinoma.

Objective To evaluate the accuracy and sensitivity of three techniques in the diagnosis of renal diseases following multiple myeloma. Methods 41 serum samples from the kidney-damaged patients with multiple myeloma and 36 from the control group with general renal diseases were detected by quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins, serum protein electrophoresis and serum Immunofixation Electrophoresis. The accuracy and sensitivity of the three techniques were analysed by Two-way ANOVA and Multiple Comparisons of the check-out rate of monoclonal immunoglobulin. Results No monoclonal components were checked out by quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins. The checkout rate of IgG and IgM myelomas were 100% by serum protein electrophoresis, which had application limit on other types of myelomas. Whereas all secretarial myelomas could be diagnosed and typied by Immunofixation Electrophoresis, the sensitivity and accuracy was 100%, there was no false positive in the control group. Comparing with quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins and serum protein electrophoresis, serum Immunofixation electrophoresis had higher sensitivity and accuracy in diagnosis of renal diseases following multiple myeloma ( P

Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic methods of sensorineural hearing loss with iron deficiency anemia and their effects. Method:Sixty-eight Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Group A (iron deficiency group A) 24 rats, group B (iron deficiency group B) 24 rats and group C (control group) 20 rats. Group A and B were fed with iron deficiency diet for 6 weeks. By analyzing ABR and DPOAE, hearing loss was detected in group A and B. Then, group A was given iron supplementation diet and hyperbaric oxygen therapies. and group B was given iron supplementation diet only. Result:The auditory thresholds and period latencies (PL) of I waves of ABR and DPOAE amplitude in 2 kHz and 3kHz within group A and B were significantly different before and after treatment (P<0.05). But the effects of treatment between these two groups had not significant differences (P>0.05). Conclusion: It suggested that good results can be obtained by early iron supplementation in iron deficiency hearing loss cases. Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy may not be necessary.

To obtain and analyze the sequence of the nucleocapsid gene from bovine coronavirus, and to produce the fusion protein of the N gene in E.coli in order to use this recombinant protein for the study of bovine coronavirus. The N gene of BCV-DQ strain was amplified by RT-PCR, in which the primers were designed on the basis of N gene sequence of BCV-Mebus strain. The PCR products of 1 347 bp in length were cloned and sequenced, and then inserted into the prokaryotic vector pET30a. The recombinant plasmids were then transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 and identified by SDS-PAGE and Western blot assay. ELISA assay was optimized of N protein as the coating antigen to detect the viruses in the clinical samples. In comparison with 6 BCV strains in GenBank, the sequence identity was proved to be more than 98.3%. Result in SDS-PAGE showed that the fusion protein had a molecular weight of 60 ku, and could be specifically recognized by mouse serum against BCV. The indirect ELISA was used to test 256 serum samples collected from Heilongjiang province and 65.23% samples were positive. On testing field samples, an overall agreement of 95.31% was generated between the the neutralization test of viruses (VN) and indirect ELISA. It is apparent that the N gene was highly conservative and is expressed in E. coli in high level, also the prokaryotic expression products of this gene show a fine reactiongenicity in immune responses. It was also suggested that the N protein may be a useful antigen for sero-diagnosis and epidemiological investigation of BCV.
