To investigate the outcome of renal transplantation in the elderly patients,the sur-vival rate,postoperative complications,rejection incidences and causes of death after renal trans-plantation in the elderly patients were compared to those of the contemporary younger patientsduring a follow-up of 5 years.No significant difference was found in the patients/graft survivaljection incidence was only 16%6 months after renal transplantation.Infection was the most com-mon complication and the main cause of death.The findings suggest that the elderly patients aresuitable for the renal transplantation as younger ones.

Objective To study the mechanism of the Compound Qinbai Granule (Granules composed of Scutellaria root and Phellodendron bark) in the treatment of radioactive dermatitis in rats.Methods The rat models of radioactive dermatitis were established and randomized into three groups:Compound Qinbai Granule group (experimental group),dexamethasone ointment group (traditional group),and normal saline group (control group).The wound was treated with Compound Qinbai Granule spray,dexamethasone ointment external application,and normal saline spray respectively.By immunohistochemical staining and image analysis,the growth of granulation tissue in the wound area wound healing rate,and the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the wound tissues were determined on the second,sixth,tenth,eighteenth,and twenty-fourth day after injury.Results The average number of granulation tissue and wound healing rate in the experimental group on the sixth,tenth,eighteenth,and twenty-fourth day were all higher than those in the traditional group and control group with a significant difference (P

Objective To seek an approach to differentiate between tumors from parotid space and from parapharyngeal space on axial CT or MR imaging. Methods Forty-five patients with tumors originated at the parotid or parapharyngeal space were reviewed retrospectively. The diagnosis was confirmed pathologically in all of the cases. The correlation among neoplasms and the posterior belly of digastric muscle and its shifting situation were evaluated on axial CT or MRI scans by two senior radiologists. All of the estimations were compared with the results of operation. Results Twenty-seven tumors from parotid space were located in the superficial side to the posterior belly of digastric muscle and pushed it medially. On the contrary, 18 neoplasms from parapharyngeal space were situated at the profound side to the posterior belly and shifted it laterally. Conclusion Tumors superficial to the posterior belly of digastric muscle and pushing it medially indicate that they come from parotid space. While neoplasms profound to the posterior belly of digastric muscle and shifting it laterally mean that they come from parapharyngeal space.

Objective To study the changes of system immune and intestinal immune in the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease due to obesity. Methods Ninty male SD rats were divided into control, high-sucrose and high-fat diet groups. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease models were established by feeding with high-sucrose diet or high-fat diet and were killed at the 4th,8th and 12th weeks with 10 each for each group. The extent of liver steatosis was observed with HE staining.Portal blood endotoxin level was assessed by limulus test. The percentage of CD4+ and CD8+ cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and lymphocytes in Peyer's patches (PP) were calculated by flowcytometry. Results In comparison with control group, the endotoxin level was not elevated from the 4th week to 12th week in high-sucrose diet group, (all P values＞0.05), but was increased in high-fat diet group at the 8th week (P＜0.05). CD4/CD8 ratio in PBMC was higher in high-sucrose and higt-fat diet groups than that in control group at the 4th week (P＜0. 05) ,but was lower than that in control group at the 8th and 12th weeks (P＜0. 05). Whereas the variation of CD4/CD8 ratio in PP was consisted with that in PBMC between the high-sucrose and high-fat diet groups at the 4 th and 8 th weeks, but there was no difference when compared with control group at the 12 th week (P＞0.05).Conclusion Obesity can inhibit systematic immune and intestinal immune. The intestinal immune may be regulated by the liver.

Objective To select a safe and feasible way by comparing the two main styles of splitting liver transplantation classical splitting and modified splitting.Methods In order to compare the distribution of artery, vein and bile duct of all segments of liver, 58 formaldehyde fixed livers and 8 fresh livers were divided into two groups. One group was subjected to classical splitting and the other group to modified splitting. Results Among 66 livers, 66.7?% of the segment VIII and 100?% of the segment V (all or some) drained to middle hepatic vein. In classical splitting group, the vein drainage of 5th and 8th segments of right graft was destroyed.Conclusion Modified splitting is safer and more reliable than classical splitting, so the former is the first choice when the size of donor liver is suitable.

Objective To diagnose Chinese autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) rapidly by detecting microsatellite SM7. Methods Microsatellite SM7 was amplified by modified PCR in two temperatures. Gene linkage analysis was performed. Rusults DNA analysis predicted 9 asymptomatic members as PKD1 gene carriers. Conclusion The presymptomatic gene diagnosis could be done rapidly by detecting microsatellite SM7 with modified PCR amplification in two temperatures.

Objective To probe into the role of apoptotic cells in the disease development of systemic lupus erythematosus.Methods Apoptotic thymocytes injected intraperitoneally into syngeneic normal C57 mice and lupus prone BXSB mice,and then the level of anti dsDNA and anti ssDNA antibodies of IgM and IgG classes,and the concentration of urine protein and immune complex of IgG class deposited in kidney were detected.Results The apoptotic thymocytes induced the production of anti dsDNA and anti ssDNA antibody of IgG class in C57 mice,and their levels were higher in female BXSB mice than in male ones.The concentration of urine protein of male BXSB mice injected with apoptotic thymocytes was noticeably higher than that of the control male BXSB mice.Conclusion Apoptotic cells have immunogenicity,and may be the major source of autoantigens in lupus BXSB mice.Lupus genetic factors and Yaa gene can potentiate the immunogenicity of apoptotic cells or accelerate their inducing the lupus nephritis.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Yishen Huayu Decoction for decreased ovarian reserve (DOR). Methods Eighty cases of DOR were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 40 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with oral administration of Yishen Huayu Decotion, one dose a day. The control group was given DHEA, a time of 1 tablet, 3 times a day. 2 groups were observed for 3 menstrual cycles. The levels of basic follicle stimulating hormone (bFSH), basal estradiol (bE2), luteinizing hormone (LH) and serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) were measured. The number of basal follicles and the peak systolic velocity (PSV) were monitored by transvaginal sonography. Quality of life assessment and basal body temperature were measured. Results The total effective rate was 85.00% (34/40) in the treatment group and 62.50% (25/40) in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of bE2 and bFSH decreased, and the levels of AMH, ovarian antral follicles and PSV increased, which were significantly different from those before treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of bE2 and bFSH in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, and the levels of AMH, ovarian antral follicle and PSV were higher than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The recovery rate of basal body temperature was 77.50%(31/40) in the treatment group and 52.50%(21/40) in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.01). After treatment, the scores of four dimensions of life quality, daily activities, health status and self-perception were significantly improved (P<0.01), and the treatment group was higher than the control group (P<0.01). Conclution Yishen Huayu Decotion can improve the ovarian reserve function and the life quality of patients with DOR.

One hundred and fifty eight post-stroke patients in the recovering period were divided into intervention group (78 cases) and control group (80 cases).Patients in intervention group received home rehabilitation service provided by general practitioners (GP) for 6 months,while patients in control group received routine rehabilitation.After 6-months,the scores of self-rated health measurement scale (SRHMS) in intervention group were significantly higher than those of control group (P ＜0.01);the visiting time and frequency,medical costs and time of caregiving were decreased (P ＜ 0.01);and the satisfaction score of the patients in intervention group was 97％.The results show that home rehabilitation service can improve effectiveness of rehabilitation for post-stroke patient in recovering period.

Objective To investigate the experience of family caregivers in nursing perioperative patients undergoing permanent cardiac pacemaker. Methods Twenty-five family caregivers taking care of the patients undergoing permanent cardiac pacemaker participated in the non-structural study. Data were analyzed by phenomenological procedure. Result The factors by category analysis includes fear, anxiety and uneasiness due to preoperative lack of relevant knowledge and postoperative lack of caring experience, lowered health level of the caregivers, strong demand for health education and lack of confidence in home care. Conclusions The family caregivers′ experience varies with different phases in perioperative period. Nurses should provide personalized services to enhance the continuity of home care so as to enhance the care quality.
