OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the status quo and tendency of utilization of hypoglycemic drugs in medical insurance inpatients.METHODS:DDD was used to analyze the data of utilization of hypoglycemic drugs in medical insurance inpatients in class A grade three hospital during 2007～2009.RESULTS:The consumption sum of hypoglycemic drug used for medical patients increased year by year.The rates of increase were up to 14.04% for 2008 and 21.65% for 2009.The consumption sum of insulin increased rapidly.The rate of drug combination was 81.57% among which the rate of using two-drug was 68.66%.CONCLUSION:The new type of hypoglycemic drugs have become the main drugs in the hypoglycemics market.Domestic drug manufacturers should develop effective,safe,economical and be benefit for the treatment of complication so as to decrease medical costs and save the resources of medical insurance.

Objective To explore the effects of subchronic arsenic exposure through drinking water on glutamate-glutamine cycle in the brain of mice. Methods The female Kunming mice were exposed to arsenite ( iAsⅢ ) by drinking water at the levels of 25, 50 and 100 mg/L respectively for 6 consecutive weeks. The blood and brain were taken, the concentration of inorganic arsenic (iAs), monomethylarsenic acid (MMA), dimethylarsenic acid (DMA) and the activity of glutamine synthetase (GS), phosphate activated glutaminase (PAG), superoxide dimutase (SOD) and the concentrations of glutamate (Glu), lipidperoxide(LPO) were determined. Results The concentrations of iAs, MMA and DMA in the blood and brains increased as the iAsⅢ concentrations in drinking water increased. The activity of GS, PAG and the concentrations of Glu in the arsenic exposed mice increased compared with the control. The activity of GS in 50 mg/L group, the activity of PAG in 25 and 50 mg/L groups, the concentration of Glu in 100 mg/L group showed a significant difference compared with the control. The activity of PAG in 25 mg/L group was significantly higher than that in 100 mg/L group. The activity of SOD in exposed groups was higher than that in the control, the concentration of LPO in exposed groups did not show a significant difference compared with the control. Conclusion Arsenic can enter the brain and organic arsenic is dominant both in the blood and brain, however, the composition of arsenic speciation is different in the blood and brain. DMA, as a main arsenide, distributed in the brain. Arsenic exposure can change the activity of GS and PAG which can influence the concentration of Glu. Moreover, arsenic exposure can increase the superoxide anion and make the activity of SOD increase compensatively.

Liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma.Liposarcoma is widely diverse in the clinical,pathological,and molecular characteristics.Surgery is still the mainstay of liposarcoma therapy and the only cure way.With the development of molecular biology,as well as the discovery of molecular pathways,oncogenes and anti-oncogenes,it is possible to treat liposarcoma with targeted drugs.

Objective To investigate the effect of electro-acupuncture at Guanyuanshu, Xinshu, Neiguan points on cardiac function after acute myocardial ischemia in rabbits. Methods A total of 36 rabbits were randomly divided into a control group, a model group and a treatment group. Acute myocardial ischemia was induced with Jugular vein injection of pituitrin. At 10 min before modeling, 1 hour and 1 week after modeling, the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and creatine kinase(CK) were determined respectively, the cardiac function was assessed as the maximum rate of left ventricular pressure rise(dp/dtmax)and the peak left ventricular pressure (LVSP). Results After 1 week of treatment, the serum levels of CK and MDA in the treatment group reduced significantly(120.21±10.67 U/L, 21.35±2.04 mmol/L], compared to the model group (162.37±13.21 U/L, 30.13±2.75 mmol/L) (all P<0.05);the dp/dtmax and LVSP decreased percentage in the treatment group (20%±2.43%, 7.22%±0.97%) decrease significantly compared to the model group (31.5%± 4.14%, 12.19%±2.21%) (all P<0.05). Conclusion Electro-acupuncture of Guanyuanshu, Xinshu, Neiguan acupoints can significantly improve cardiac function after acute myocardial ischemia and protect against acute myocardial ischemia in rabbits.

AIM:To select an optiomal formulation of liposome entrapped alkanin prepared with ethanol injection in the combination of orthogonal design and central composite design/Response surface method.METHODS:Five influencing factors,including ratio of alkanin to liposome and soyabean lecithin to cholesterol,volume ratio of ethanol phase to water phase,soybean concentration and mannitol concentration were chosen as indices by orthogonal design.Then the method utilized the central composite design,which fitted multivariate linear and second/third order nonlinear regression equation,to find out the optimal formulation.RESULTS:Third order regression equation gained made the good prediction about entrapment(85.4%) and alkanin load(5.16%),and exhibited no significant difference between theoretic value and measured value.CONCLUSION:The combination of orthogonal design with central composite design is a feasible and convenient method to optimize the prescription of alkanin-lipo-some.

The changes of the growth characteristics and surface ultrastructure during longterm passages of Wg3h cells that have been transfected with PSV_2-neo (Wg3h-neo) were studied. The results showed that the growth and DNA synthesis rate were evidently higher in the transfected cells than in the parental wg3h cells. The saturation of the transfected cell growth density was also increased, but neither the parental and transfected cells formed cell colony in soft agar medium nor tumor growth in nude mice. There was no significant differences in morphology between the two cell types under light microscopy, however much more microvilli were seen on the transfected cell surface under scanning electron microscopy. Southern blot hybridization analysis indicated that the PSV_2-neo plasmids were integrated into the genome of the target cells. Our results demonstrated that the transfected cells remained as nonmalignant cells although some changes of their growth characteristics and surface ultrastructure appeared.

AIM: To examine COX-2 expression in esophageal carcinoma,and to study relationships between COX-2 expression and clinicopathological features and prognosis of esophageal carcinoma patients.METHODS: 89 paraffin-embedded tissue samples from patients with esophageal carcinoma were collected,its clinicopathological features such as tumour differentiation,depth of invasion,length and site of the tumor,regional lymph node metastases,distant metastasis were recorded.Survival time of 81 cases were also recorded.By SP immunohistochemistry method,the expression of COX-2 in tumor samples was examined.RESULTS: COX-2 expression in esophageal carcinoma was markedly higher than that in nomal esophagus,the expression was higher in less differentiated and deeper invaded cases(P0.05).Cases of esophageal carcinoma with lower COX-2 expression had longer survival time than those with higher COX-2 expression(P
