1.Advances in peptide antibiotic LL-37
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(03):-
LL-37 is the only member of the cathelicidin family known to exist in human acting as an endogenous antibiotic. After removal of the highly conserved N-termini of precursor hCAP18,a 15 000 C-terminal fragment called LL-37 bearing all of the known biological acivity hitherto is liberated by proteinase.LL-37 is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negtive bacteria. Its antibacterial activity depends on the formation of ?-helical conformation. The cytotoxic activity of LL-37 is inhibited by apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ(apoA-Ⅰ) in the plasma, thereby it can function as a scavenger of LL-37 and prevent host cell damage. In addition to its microbicidal activity,LL-37 has several other functions such as chemotactic, angiogenic action and the ability to bind and neutralize the endotoxin.

Human neutrophils defensins, e.g., human neutrophils peptides (HNP), had been found in polymorphonuclear neutrophil and shown broad antimicrobial activity, cytotoxicity and chemotaxis as an important family of human innate defence components. The researches on defensins is becoming a worldwide major focus of biological and medical attention nowadays. The researches on molecular characteristics, biological and pathophysiological activities of HNP are reviewed.

Objective To restore the profile of the youthful human fa ce, the concept of three dimensions in the full face rejuvenaton is presented. Methods Under general anaesthesia, the operation was perf ormed, in which the lap of buccal soft tissues, the liposuction of part of face, the mobilization and/or repositioning of fat pockets, the transplantation of fa t, implantation of variant plastic materials etc. were applied. Resul ts We performed the procedures for 18 patients using three dimension s facial rejuvenation and obtained good results from February 2001 to May 2004. Conclusion Through above-mentioned procedures, three-di mensional concept is embodied, and the patients not only obtain better effect o f full face rejuvenation, but also improve the facial profile.

Objective:To study the torsional property and rotary fatigue fracture of Smart K files and R reamers made of nickel-titanium alloy. Methods:The torsional property and rotary fatigue fracture behavior of Smart K files and R reamers were evaluated by means of specially-designed torsional device and simulated endodontic root canals system. The instrument surface and the rotary fatigue fractured surface were investigated by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. Results:Compared with ANSI/ADA specification No.28, maximum torque values of Smart K and R endodontic instrument were higher. Tensile stresses on the outer surface of the endodontic instruments played a dominant role in fracture initiation during rotary fatigue fracture. The rotary numbers corresponding to rotary fatigue fracture decreased with the increase of the instrument size and curvature. Smart K and R endodontic instruments exhibited good ductility. Dimples were found on the fractured surface, and the fatigue fracture was the typical ductile fracture. Conclusion:Smartendodontic instruments have excellent torsional and rotary fatigue fracture resistance properties.

Objective To probe the changes of RAGEmRNA expression in renal tissue of.streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Methods Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used in control rats and diabetic rats for 12 weeks. Results After 4 weeks of diabetes inducement, RACEmRNA level showed a continuous increase both in diabetic renal cortex and medulla. However, this enhancement could not be observed in 2 weeks of diabetes. In addition, after 8 weeks diabetic rats had significantly higher glycated Hb(GHb). Conclusion Gene expression of RAGE in renal tissue of diabetic rats is altered and the excessive gene expression of RAGE may enhance the AGEs-RAGE interactions which would contribute to the development of diabetic nephropathy. Furthermore, this change occurs as a result of hyperglycemia-induced AGEs formation.

Objective To introduce a method of using perforators flap adjacent to the defect to repair small sized skin defect. Methods From October 2009 to December 2013,a total of 23 cases of skin lesions were treated with perforators flap adjacent to the defect. The perforator artery was preoperatively detected with Portable Doppler in the region of relative slack skin.Skin defects with the area changed from 1.5 cm × 2.0 cm to 5.0 cm × 4.0 cm.Results All the flap survived smoothly, with pleased appearance and primary healing.Postoperative follow-up of 3 to 6 month showed no recurrence in tumor patients during the follow-up period. Conclusions Application of perforators flap adjacent to defect to repair small sized skin defect has the advantages of flexibility, reliable blood supply, which obtains good result.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):202-204
Objective:To approach the role of lymphangiogenesis in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC). Methods: Immunohistochemical double staining technique was utilized to distinguish lymphatic vessels from blood vessels. MLVD was determined by manual counting to analyze the relationship with lymph node metastasis. Results: MLVD was significantly higher in 40 OSCC than 14 normal mucosa(P<0.01). MLVD in OSCC showed a statistically significant relationship with regional lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion(P<0.01). Conclusion: Lymphangiogenesis might occur in growth, infiltration and metastasis of OSCC. Detection of MLVD in OSCC might be important to evaluate tumor metastasis and judge prognosis.

Objectives:Identification, clone and sequence of the chinese mature apoA1 peptide gene. Methods:Total RNA was prepared from Chinese fetal liver tissue, cDNA fragment encoding human apoA1 was amplified by RT PCR using specific primers, and cloned into pGEM T vector. Inserted apoA1 gene was sequenced by ABI 377 DNA Sequencer. Results:Analysis indicates that the DNA fragment is 739 base pairs in length and has 100% nucleotide homology with that reported previously. Conclusions:Human apoA1 gene was successfully cloned from fetal liver tissue.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
Distribution and morphology of argyrophil and argentaffin cells in small intestine of 11 rats were studied by means of Huang's method of argyrophil reaction and Singh's method of argentaffin reaction on paraffin sections of intestine rolls. The results are as follows:1. The density of argyrophil and argentaffin cells in rat small intestine is the highest in the duodenum and progressively decreases from jejunum to ileum.2. The staining intensity of argyrophil and argentaffin cells is lowest in the basal portion of crypts and progressively increases from crypts to villus. Intensely stained argyrophil and argentaffin cells in the villus tip were observed. The basal portion of the argyrophil cells has cytoplasmic processes extending to connective tissue of the lamina propria and the argyrophil granules are released to lamina propria along these processes. Argyrophil granules can usually be found to extend to the luminal surface of these cells; occasionally they were observed extracellularly in the gland cavity, suggesting that argyrophil and argentaffin cells may have both endocrine and exocrine functions.3. Some argyrophil cells can be found in connective tissue of the lamina propria. The cells are irregular in shape and possesses processes. There are argyrophil granules in perikaryon and the processes and occasionally outside the cells. The argyrophil cells in the lamina propria are the same as those among epithelial cells in shape, argyrophil property and density of the granules. It is possible that these cells belong to endocrine cells.
