Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2003;20(4):708-712
This study was designed to assess the effect of a home-bred poly-DL-lactide (PDLLA) rods on experimental fracture healing. An operation was performed to create bilateral ulnar and radial fractures of forearm in 15 rabbits. The right sides were fixed with 2 PDLLA (Mv = 34 x 10(4), 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm x 30 mm) rods, and the contralateral sides were fixed with 2 Kirschner wires to be used as controls. After operation, casts were used for external fixation, and the joint above and the joint below the fracture were immobilized. The casts were removed at the 6th week after operation. The specimens were removed at specific intervals between 2 and 12 weeks. Histologically, the light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy evaluation of the rabbit ulnar and radial fractures fixation revealed that, the fractured bone gradually healed and the PDLLA rods properly fixed on the fracture area during the implanted period. However, results suggest that internal fixation by absorbable material made the course of fracture healing slower than that in the control group, but the osteogenesis appeared to be normal. In the absorbable group, the collagenous fiber was characterized by order and orientation, and calcified normally. In conclusion, this kind of PDLLA rods have an effect on delaying the process of the normal union of fracture and should be applicable to fractures where the tissues are rich in blood supply.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2005;22(3):518-520
This experimental study was intended to find the possibility of using PDLLA as scaffolds in tissue engineering and to assess the effect of PDLLA scaffolds with different porosity on chondrocytes. Chondrocytes were cultured when they were seeded onto PDLLA scaffolds with different porosity. Under scanning electron microscope, the scaffolds in hydrophila and adsorptivity to chondrocytes and the function of the cells were observed. The chondrocytes were noted to proliferate on PDLLA scaffolds with different porosity, those with 90%-96% porosity being significantly better. So PDLLA can be used as a scaffold in tissue engineering, and the proper porosity of PDLLA scaffolds should be 90% approximately 96%.

Objective To investigate effects of Danhong on the serum levels of CD137, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and homocysteine (Hcy) in patients with non-ST elevation acute myocardial infarction complicating metabolic syndrome. Methods A total of 126 patients with non-ST elevation acute myocardial infarction complicating metabolic syndrome were enrolled and randomly divided into a conventional treatment group and a Danhong treatment group using a random-digit table, with 63 patients in each group. All patients underwent angiography or percutaneous coronary intervention. The patients in the Danhong treatment group treated with intravenous Danhong 20 ml on the basis of conventional treatment for 1 week. The serum levels of CD137, hs-CRP and Hcy were measured at hospital admission and 10 days after treatment. The severity of coronary artery disease was assessed by the Gensini-score. Results The levels of CD137, hs-CRP and Hcy in both groups after treatment were significantly lower than before treatment (conventional treatment group: t 12.393, 17.408 and 9.458; Danhong treatment group: t 16.110, 17.573 and 13.481; all P<0.01), and the Danhong treatment group were significantly decreased than the conventional treatment group (t 2.815, 3.224 and 3.157, all P<0.01). The serum levels of CD137 and hs-CRP before treatment were significantly correlated with Gensini scores in 126 patients (r 0.720 and 0.562,all P<0.01). Conclusions The serum levels of CD137 and hs-CRP are significantly correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease, intravenous Danhong may has protective effect for coronary artery disease via decreasing CD137 and hs-CRP.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2021;56(4):342-348
Objective:To explore the effect of subpressure on the bonding strength of resin to polycrystalline particulates modified zirconia ceramic. Methods:One hundred and twenty pre-sintered zirconia discs were prepared and divided into the control group, the sandblasting group and the 30, 50, 70 s acid etching group (24 per group) by the random number table method. There was no additional treatment in the control group and sandblasting group before sinering. The 30, 50, and 70 s acid etching groups were immersed in HF for 30, 50, 70 s, respectively, and then they were placed into CaCl 2 solution for 90 s and dipped in NaOH solution at 80 ℃ for 2 h. After sintering, the sandblasting group was subjected to sandblasting. The surface tomography and roughness were tested. According to whether subpressure was applied or not after the adhesives were applied, each group was randomly divided into two subgroups with a random number table: a subpressure subgroup and a normal pressure subgroup (12 per subgroup). Resin columns were bonded to these specimens. Shear bonding strength (SBS) test was conducted and the bonding interface, fracture surface and failure mode were analyzed. Results:The surface of control group was smooth, and its roughness was (0.24±0.11) μm. The rough surface was formed after sandblasting in the sandblasting group, and its roughness was (0.95±0.12) μm. The surface roughness of 30, 50, 70 s acid etching groups [(0.60±0.15), (1.04±0.11), (1.57±0.16) μm] increased as the HF immersion time prolonged, and the difference in surface roughness of zirconia specimens among each group was statistically significant ( P<0.05). The SBS values between zirconia and resin of all the subpressure subgroups, namely: the control group, the sandblasting group, and the 30, 50, 70 s acid etching group [(13.56±1.19), (20.98±2.11), (17.37±2.44), (24.19±2.97), (21.36±2.16) MPa] were significantly stronger than those in the normal pressure subgroups, namely: the control group, sandblasting group, 30, 50, 70 s acid etching group [(10.74±0.93), (18.47±2.14), (14.81±1.54), (20.74±2.56), (17.75±2.54) MPa] ( P<0.05). No obvious gaps and bubbles were observed in the bonding interfaces in subpressure subgroups. The proportion of mixed failure was significantly increased after applying subpressure ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The subpressure can effectively enhance the bonding strength between the resin and polycrystalline particulates modified zirconia ceramic and improve the bonding effect.
