Objective To investigate the imaging and condylar movements during mandibular opening/closing movement in AngleⅡ2 malocclusion accompanying one side of temporomandibular joint(TMJ)click before and after orthodontic treatment.Methods There were 20 AngleⅡ2 malocclusion patients with one side of TMJ click in treatment group,and 23 with the individual normal occlusion in control group.This study was performed taking the films of Sch?ller position before and after treatment,using CADIAX to record the condylar tracings during opening/closing movement and analyze the qualitative and quantitive changes.Results In AngleⅡ2 malocclusion patients,the condylar position of 58.33% patients recovered from retroposition to mesoposition.The condyle movement presented conspicuous verticality,the smoothing and symmetry were not well,and obvious improvements were observed after the treatment.All the index changed remarkably except the TCI and TCI of 5 mm.Conclusion It is suggested that orthodontic treatment can make the disc-condyle relationship return to normalization,and the condylar movement become much more coherent.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)on minute gas-tric stromal tumor (MGST).Methods 90 patients diagnosed with MGST were randomly divided into two groups. 45 patients in A group were given conventional endoscopic diagnosis,45 cases in B group were treated with endoscopic ultrasound diagnosis.After the two groups of patients with endoscopic treatment,the coincidence rate of preoperative diagnosis and pathological inspection test results was recorded,clinical features in MGST under EUS diagnosis were analyzed.Results All patients were diagnosed in the case of endoscopic surgery,endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)accounted for 94.44%,which was significantly higher than the use of endoscopic full -thickness resection (EFR)percentage of 5.56%,and the difference was statistically significant (χ2 =14.22,P <0.05);The two groups of patients after endoscopic treatment,were diagnosed as pathological inspection MGST.Preoperative diagnosis showed that EUS MGST suspected cases of 40 patients,conventional endoscopy MGST suspected cases of 31 cases.The diag-nosis coincidence rate of B group (88.89%)was significantly higher than that in A group (68.88%),the difference was statistically significant (χ2 =5.40,P <0.05);MGST of EUS images could be clearly observed in patients with tumor morphology,size,location,growth pattern,internal parenchyma,echo pattern,strengthening methods,the compo-sition ratio in line with the results of endoscopic treatment,diagnosis results in line with the pathological diagnosis. Conclusion EUS has significant value for the diagnosis of MGST,it has advantages in the clinical guidance and treatment.

SUMMARY Mercury intoxication is a rare cause of severe hypertension. A case of mercury intoxication presented with severe hypertension and erythromelalgia was reported. A 10-year-and-5-month-old girl presented with recurrent rash and painful hands for 2 months, with seizure attack and episodic loss of consciousness for one hand half months. The girl was found to have red painful hands, a blood pressure 170/120 mm Hg(1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa), tachycardia and hypokalemia (2.83-3.25 mmol/L, reference value 3.5-5.5 mmol/L). An extensive investigation ensued. Elevated renin-angiotensin and aldosterone were demonstrated in plasma. Cranial MRI T2 weighed images showed widespread white matter signal abnormalities, which particularly involved parietal, occipital and frontal lobes. With hypertension controlled, white matter signal abnormalities weakened. Other symptoms included insomnia, nausea and paroxysmal abdominal pain. BACKGROUND:Peripheral facial nerve injury first involves the retrograde reactions of central nervous system axons, and nerve regeneration wil depend on the survival and functional status of neuronal cel bodies. OBJECTIVE:To explore the expression of neuronal cadherin and placental cadherin in facial nuclei after facial nerve injury. METHODS:New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into model group (n=48) and control group (n=8). In the model group, every eight rabbits were used to carry out the test respectively at 1, 4, 7, 14, 21 days after the model of facial nerve injury (right side) was established. SP and real-time quantitative PCR methods were taken to test the expression of neuronal cadherin and placental cadherin in the facial nerve nucleus at mRNA and RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The control group had neuronal cadherin-and placental cadherin-positive neurons. In the model group, neuronal cadherin and placental cadherin positively expressed in the facial motorneurons (right side), and their expressions were peaked at 14 days. Compared with the control group, the mRNA expression of neuronal cadherin in the facial motorneurons was increased significantly at 4-28 days after injury;the mRNA expression of placental cadherin in the facial motorneurons was decreased significantly at 1 day after injury, and then increased significantly at 7-28 days. It is suggested that the expression of neuronal cadherin and placental cadherin is positive in the early stage of facial nerve injury, and the expression of placental cadherin is always present, while the expression of neuronal cadherin relatively lasts for a short time. After facial nerve injury, the expression of neuronal cadherin and placental cadherin in the facial nerve nucleus is both increased, which indicates that the facial nerve regeneration may be related to the high expression of adhesion molecules.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical repair value of facial skin and tissue defect caused by tumour, trauma and infection with the axial flap. METHOD: The clinical data of 38 patients with facial skin and tissue defect were analyzed retrospectively. All of them were repaired by the axial flap. RESULT: The axial flap was alive in all patients, and all incision healed in the first stage. All patients had a satisfied result after the second stage of flap surgery. CONCLUSION The method of the axial flap in face can be clinically applied in the facial skin and tissue defects caused by tumour, trauma injury and infection. Because the axial flap cotained named blood vessel, the survival rate of it is high.

[ ABSTRACT] AIM: To explore the relationship between FRAS 1 protein and brain metastases of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).METHODS:The mRNA expression of FRAS1 in the brain metastatic tumor tissues and primary tumor tissues of NSCLC was detected by qPCR .The protein expression of FRAS 1 in the tumor tissues and normal tissues adjacent to tumor tissues of NSCLC was measured by SP method of immunohistochemistry .The protein expression of FRAS 1 in NSCLC primary tumor tissues with or without brain metastases was also determined .RESULTS:The mRNA expression of FRAS1 in the brain metastatic zone was nearly 10 times higher than that in the primary tumor tissues , and there was sig-nificant difference between the 2 groups (P<0.05).FRAS1 protein was expressed in the NSCLC primary tumor tissues , but was not found in the normal tissues adjacent to primary tumor tissues .The protein expression of FRAS 1 in the NSCLC with brain metastases was significantly higher than that without brain metastases ( P<0.01 ) .CONCLUSION: FRAS1 protein may be associated with the occurrence of NSCLC .The over-expression of FRAS1 protein may be related to brain metastases with NSCLC .

Obiective:To elucidate the phenotype and the genotype-phenotype correlations in Chinese patients with X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy(X-ALD).Methods:Clinical features of 40 Chinese patients with X-ALD were studied and mutation spectrums were investigated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing. Results:Among these patients, four were siblings from two unrelated families, the others were unrelated. There were 31 cases with childhood cerebral (CCALD), 8 cases with adolescent cerebral (ACALD) and 1 case with adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN). Visual impairment, which presented in 12 cases (30%), was the most common initial symptom. Nine (69%) of 13 cases who had hydrocortisone and ACTH measured showed adrenal insufficiency. By follow-up date, 19 cases (47.5%) were dead. The interval from onset to death varied from 1 to 6 years and the average were 3.3 years. The mean age at death was 10.5 years. Eleven cases (27.5%) were in vegetable state. The mean interval from onset to apparently vegetable state was 2.8 years (range from 1 to 6 years). Four cases had progressive neurological disability. Four cases were lost follow-up. One case with CCALD and one case with ACALD progressed slowly. The courses of the disease of these two patients were 5 years and 15 years respectively. Thirty five mutations were identified in 40 cases. Most were located within exon 1-3 (40%, 16/40) and exon 6-8 (42%, 17/40). There is a distinct clustering of missense mutations in exon 6 (17%, 7/40). Five types of mutations were associated with CCALD, three with ACALD and a missense mutation was identified in the patients with AMN. The two patients with long disease courses had a missence mutation c.1559 T>A and a nonsense mutation c.1785 G>A respectively. The siblings with similar manifestations and onset age were observed in two families, whose mutations were c.887 A>G and c.1028 G>T. Conclusion:The phenotypes, disease severity and rate of neurodegeneration could not be predicted by the nature of mutations.

During the electroporation cell membrane conductivity increases dramatically, so the analytical model for calculating the transmembrane voltage (TMV) induced on an unpermeabilized cell membrane in suspensions can not be used in this case. An analytical model for the TMV induced on a permeabilized cell membrane in suspensions exposed to a high voltage DC pulse field was built. First, a permeabilized cell was replaced by a sphere cell having the equivalent conductivity. Then the average field inside the permeabilized cell suspensions was calculated according to the effective medium theory. Finally, based on the analytical solution for the TMV on a single unpermeabilized cell, an analytical model for the TMV on a permeabilized cell in suspensions was derived. The model shows that the TMV depends on parameters such as the external electric field, critical angle of electroporation, cell radium, conductivity of the cytoplasm, membrane and external medium, cell arrangement and cell volume fraction.
