Background Recently, small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) procedure is used to correct myopia. The clinical safety and efficiency of SMILE have been approved, but its predictability to corneal ablation depth is brought into focus. Objective This study was to compare the predictability of ablation depth in central cornea between SMILE and femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) for myopia. Methods A nonrandomized controlled clinical study was performed. Two hundred and seventy eyes of 135 myopic patients who were going to receive corneal refractive surgery were included in Beijing Tongren Hospital from October 2015 to May 2016.SMILE and FS-LASIK were performed on 138 eyes of 69 patients and 132 eyes of 66 patients matched in demography respectively under the informed consent.Central corneal thickness was measured by RTVue FD-OCT before and 1 week after surgery. The refractive power, actual ablation depth (difference of central corneal thickness before and after surgery) and central corneal cutting error (difference between theoretically expected ablation depth and real ablation depth) were intergrouply compared, and the correlation of real ablation depth with theoretically expected ablation depth was assessed. Results No significant difference was found in spherical power, astigmatic power and spherical equivalent after surgery between SMILE group and FS-LASIK group (t =-1.826,-1.405,-1.420,all at P>0.05).The actual ablation depth was (76.96± 15.27)μm in the SMILE group, which was significant lower than (96.76± 16.52) μm of theoretically expected ablation depth (t =-23.016,P < 0.01);however,there was no significant difference in the FS-LASIK group between actual and expected ablation depth ([77.92 ± 18.69] μm versus [77.42± 15.60] μm) (t =-0.604,P =0.547).The central corneal cutting error was (20.55 ± 8.51) μm in the SMILE group and (7.17±5.97) μm in the FS-LASIK group, showing a significant difference between them (t=14.950,P<0.01).The positive linear correlations were seen between actual and expected ablation depth in both SMILE group and FS-LASIK group (r=0.799,0.867,both at P<0.01).The actual ablation depth was increased over expected ablation depth, with the regression equations of Y=3.892+0.749X in the SMILE group and Y=3.443 + 0.957X in the FS-LASIK group. Conclusions The actual corneal ablation depth is less than expected corneal ablation depth in SMILE procedure, while in FS-LASIK procedure, the actual corneal ablation depth appears to be consistent with the expected one, inferring a good predictability in corneal ablation depth in FS-LASIK surgery.

A cidithiobacillus ferrooxidans is a chemolithotrophic microorganism capable of using ferrous ions and sulphides as energy sources. This microorganism has an important role in the bioleaching of minerals. During this process, the bacteria are normally subjected to several stressing conditions, such as temperature changes, lack of nutrients or pH changes, which may affect the efficiency of the bacterial action. SELDI is a recent technology that allows for high-throughput proteomics studies. The Protein Chip SELDI technology was used to generate comparative protein profiles of A c idithiobacillus ferrooxidans grown under phosphate starvation or normal condition additionally adding Fe2+ as energy resource. There were 13 significantly differential expressed protein's peaks found by using SELDI Protein Chip technologies, which made a solid foundation for further isolation these low molecular proteins by adopting technologies such as HPLC etc.

OBJECTIVE: To present a new approach for the research of effective components extracted from compounds of traditional Chinese medicine and their action mechanisms by high-throughput screening assay. METHODS: We observed the anti-oxidation activities of 240 sequential components (L1-L120 and A1-A120) extracted from Xiaoxuming Recipe, the effects of these components on SH-SY5Y cells with H(2)O(2)-induced and L-glutamic acid-induced damages and the levels of resting calcium ion in neurocytes of rats. RESULTS: Some components (L1-L40, A100-A120) extracted from Xiaoxuming Recipe had the corresponding effects listed above. The combination of these components was regarded as the groups of effective components of Xiaoxuming Recipe in treating sequelae resulting from brain ischemia. CONCLUSION: Xiaoxuming Recipe has protective effect on brain-ischemia-induced damages through the actions of multiple components with multiple targets.

Objective:To observe the effect of warming needle therapy combined with Tuina(Chinese therapeutic massage)on the clinical symptoms and anxiety state of patients with cervical vertigo accompanied by anxiety. Methods:Seventy patients with cervical vertigo accompanied by anxiety state were divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method, with 35 patients in each group. In addition to disease education, the observation group was treated with warming needle therapy and Tuina 3 times a week, and the control group was treated with betahistine mesylate tablets orally 3 times a day. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The changes in the scores of the evaluation scale for cervical vertigo(ESCV),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),and Hamilton anxiety rating scale(HAMA)were compared between the two groups after treatment. Results:One case in the observation group dropped out due to failure to cooperate with the treatment during the study. In the treatment group, the total effective rate and the cured plus markedly effective rate were 94.1%and 50.0%,respectively,and 88.6%and 8.6%in the control group, respectively;the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the ESCV,SAS,and HAMA scores of both groups decreased significantly compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion:Warming needle therapy combined with Tuina can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients with cervical vertigo accompanied by anxiety state.
