Objective To evaluate the importance of serum thyroid hormonens level of patients with stable coronary heart disease(CAD)in different glucose metablic statuses. Methods 173 cases of CAD patients in different glucose metablic statuses and 58 cases of healthy people were enrolled in the study. The levels of thyroid hormonens and serum insulin was measured by electro-chemiluminescence,and the evaluation of glucose metablic statuses and insulin resistance index was by means of 75 g oral glucose tolerance test. Results There was no significant difference in the levels of systolic pressure(SBP),diastolic pressure(DBP),insulin resistence index and serum thyroid hormonens among CAD patients with different glucose metablic statuses(P >0.05).The levels of fasting plasma glucose,2 hour postprandial plasma glucose(PG2h)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)in CAD complicated with type 2 diabetes group were significantly higher than those in CAD complicated with impaired glucose tolerance group and CAD complicated with normal glucose tolerance group (P < 0.05 ).And the PG2h level of CAD complicated with impaired glucose tolerance group was significantly higher than both of CAD complicated with normal glucose tolerance group and normal control group s(P <0.05).Conclusion It indicates that serum thyroid hormonens level may not affect glycometabolism in CAD patients.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the autologous epidermal grafting combining with NB-UVB radiation on the treatment of stable vitiligo. Methods Autologous epidermal graft acquired by suction blister under negative pressure were transplanted onto the laser-abraded depigmented areas, then the narrow-band UVB radiation was given after grafting to 35 patients with stable vitiligo. The onset time and the area repigmentation of every epidermal graft 3 months latter were observed (digital image contrasted before and after treatment). The results were compared with 37 cases only treated with autologous epidermal grafting. Results Both onset time and the cure rate in combined treatment group were statistically significant (P<0.05) as compared with control group. Conclusions The combination of autologous epidermal grafting with NB-UVB radiation can shorten the onset time of repigmentation and promote generation and extension of the melanin.

Objective To understand the current status of malaria prevalence, its impacts and malaria transmission trends in Jiangsu Province.MethodsThe malaria incidence, and its symptoms, mosquito preventive measures,Anopheles density, mosquito biting rates and related factors were investigated in malaria epidemic villages as surveillance sites such as Guanshan Town of Suining County,Tangzhang Town of Tongshan County,Tianganghu town of Sihong County,Qiuji Town of Xuyi County and Zhangzhu Twon of Yixing City.ResultsIn 2006,the bednet coverage was 20.29% and bednet-using rate was 34.32% in 27903 residents of 7921 households of 15 administrative villages. In 2005,750 Anopheles sinensi were captured from 50 bednets in the early morning, the human biting ratio was 0.17/person per night, and in 2006,1927 Anopheles sinensi were captured from 50 bednets in the early morning, human biting ratio was 0.38/person per night. The average blood smear checking rate was 2.72%(6089 people)and the average positive rate was 0.48%(29 plasmodium positive individuals).ConclusionThe lower blood smear microscopy testing, few positive rates of febrile patients and increased Anopheles sinensis density were the main factors of malaria relapses in the area of the North Huaihe River in Jiangsu Province.

OBJECTIVE:
To estimate the social and economic burden of Downs syndrome for patients and their families residing in Changsha, China.
METHODS:
An 160-item self-administered questionnaire was designed and distributed to the primary caregivers of the patients in March 2020. A total of 81 eligible participants had completed the questionnaire, among which 20 were excluded for incomplete data. A patient perspective was taken to estimate the economic burden of the disease. The social impact of the disease on the patient's family was evaluated through questions adapted from the Stanford Psychological Wellbeing (PWB) Scale.
RESULTS:
The estimated life-course cost of a Downs syndrome patient in Changsha is 4 985 659 RMB, with the patient and caregiver's loss of income taking the greater proportion. In addition, as the majority of the patients' primary caregivers, female caregivers experienced not only considerable financial hardship caused by the care provision, but also a significant amount of psychological pressure and social discrimination.
CONCLUSION
Increased level of social welfare for the patients and social support for their female caregivers are essential for reducing economic burden and improving their quality of life in the area. In addition, prenatal screening and diagnosis for Downs syndrome are important for reducing both the social and economic burden of the disease by preventing its occurrence.
