Objective To investigate the apoptosis induced by adenovirus mediated PML growth suppressor in SGC-7901 gastric cancer cells. Methods Human full-length PML cDNA was cloned into shuttle plasmid pSGCMV, the constructed plasmid containing PML gene was co-transfected into 293 cells together with backbone plasmid pPE3 to obtain recombinant adenovirus Ad-pml. Ad-pml was used to infect SGC-7901 cells. The expression of p53 and bcl-2 in SGC-7901 cells and qualitative, quantitative index of cell apoptosis were detected with MTT, flow cytometry and immunohistochemical method. Results The growth of SGC-7901 cells was inhibited and the apoptosis rate was increased by adenovirus mediated PML in a MOI- dependent manner. The expression of p53 protein was increased and that of bcl-2 protein was unchanged in SGC-7901 cells after treated with adenovirus mediated PML. Conclusions Adenovirus mediated PML exerts its cytotoxic effect on SGC-7901 cells by inducing apoptosis. The increase of p53 protein expression is the mechanism inducing gastric cancer cell apoptosis.

Objective To evaluate the changes of middle cerebral arterial (MCA) hemodynamics before and after intraluminal stent-assisted angioplasty for their stenosis. Methods A total of 11 patients with MCA stenosis treated by intraluminal stent-assisted angioplasty were selected. In these cases, their stenosis before treatment and the state of stents after treatment were observed using transcranial color Doppler ultrasonography(TCCD). Meanwhile, the blood flow velocities (including peak systolic velocity, end diastolic velocity and mean velocity) were measured and studied comparatively at stenosis and post-stenosis place before and after the treatment, respectively. Results ①Among 11 cases implanted stents, 10 stents were in good state after treatment, only one expanded incompletely. ②The blood flow velocities were significantly higher in patients at stenosis place than in normal adults, and lower at post-stenosis place before treatment (P<0.05). The blood flow velocity lowered obviously at stenosis place after treatment (P<0.05) ,among which 90.9% were restored. The one which expanded incompletely was slightly higher. The blood flow velocity increased at post-stenosis place after treatment (P<0.05) and all returned to normal. Conclusions TCCD can observe the MCA stenosis and the state of stent, and analyze the changes of their hemodynamics.

Objective To study the CT findings of pulmonary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Methods The CT examinations of 12 patients with pathologically proven pulmonary MALT lymphoma were reviewed retrospectively. Evaluated imaging findings included number, distribution, shape, attenuation and other associated findings of each lesion were evaluated. Results Thirty-two pulmonary lesions, including consolidations, masses, nodules and lesions with ground glass attenuation, were identified in 12 patients. Multiple lesions were founded in 10 of 12 patients and solitary lesion in 2 patients. Multiple lesions found in one lung in 2 patients, and multiple lesions found in both lungs in 8 patients. Ten cases demonstrated 21 consolidation lesions with air bronchogram, and one of the ten cases demonstrated two lesions with airway dilatation. Three cases demonstrated 5 masses or nodular lesions, 3 of these 5 lesions showed air bronchogram. Two cases demonstrated 6 ground glass attenuation lesions. One case showed mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy. Conclusion Pulmonary MALT lymphoma usually appears as multiple bilateral consolidations, masses, nodules with air bronchogram or lesions with groundglass attenuation at CT imaging. The imaging findings described above and with an indolent clinical course may suggest the diagnosis of pulmonary MALT lymphoma.

Objective: To investigate HDAC5 expression in gastric cancer cell lines and its effects on the proliferation and apoptosis of the gastric cancer line SGC-7901. Methods: The expression patterns of HDAC5 and Twist1 in gastric cancer cell lines and normal gastric mucosal cells were detected by Western blot. The effects of HDAC5 and Twist1 on the proliferation and apoptosis of SGC-7901 cells were analyzed by MTT and flow cytometry, respectively. Results: The expression of HDAC5 and Twist1 in gastric cancer cell lines were significantly higher than that in normal gastric mucosal cells (P<0.05). HDAC5 knockdown significantly down-regulated Twist1 expression, inhibited cell proliferation, and induced apoptosis in SGC-7901 cells, whereas HDAC5 overexpression exhibited an opposite effect (P<0.05). Moreover, Twist1 knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in SGC-7901 cells (P<0.05). Conclusion:HDAC5 may promote cell proliferation and inhibit apoptosis in gastric cancer cells by upregulating Twist1 expression, thus promoting the initiation and development of gastric cancer.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the unilateral and bilateral drainage in hilar malignant biliary obstruction with a meta?analysis of relevant studies. Methods A systematic electronic search with keywords “ biliary stent”, “hilar tumor” and “malignant biliary obstruction” was independently performed by two reviewers in major electronic databases of Pubmed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. A meta?analysis was conducted using Revman 5?? 1 software. Results Six studies were included with a total number of 558 patients, of whom 307 patients underwent unilateral biliary drainage and 251 pa?tients bilateral drainage. There was no significant difference in early complications ( OR = 1?? 03,95% CI:0?? 58?1?? 81,P = 0?? 93), later complications (OR = 0?? 98,95%CI:0?? 46?2?? 07,P = 0?? 95), operation success rate (OR= 1?? 42,95%CI:0?? 76?2?? 66,P = 0?? 28),drainage efficacy or median survival time between the two groups. Compared with unilateral biliary drainage, bilateral biliary drainage had a longer time of stent patency (MD = - 29?? 12,95% CI:- 38?? 55?- 19?? 70,P< 0?? 001). Conclusion Both unilateral and bilateral biliary drainage are safe and effective for hilar malignant biliary obstruction, but more high quality clinical researches are needed.

Objective: To explore the underlying mechanism by which acupuncture regulates the peripheral leukocyte count and observe the relationship between the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) and the spleen ultrastructure in leukopenia. Methods: Leukopenia models of rabbits were established by injecting cyclophosphamide (CY) into rabbits' ear vein, and then the rabbits were treated with acupuncture. The peripheral leukocyte count and classification were measured daily. At last, after the animals were anesthesized, the abdominal cavity was opened, and a piece of spleen tissue was cut. The diameter of splenic sinusoid basal lamina eyehole was measured under electric microscope. Results: The peripheral blood leukocyte count in the EA group increased significantly with shift to right of the granulocyte nuclei compared with model control group (P<0.01). Moreover, the calibers of splenic sinusoid basal lamina eyehole in the EA group were larger than those in the model control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture can enhance the peripheral leukocyte count by promoting spleen activity in the early phase of leukopenia.
