In this study the poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) hydrogel elastomer was prepared by freezing-thawing method. The influences of percentage of poly (vinyl alcohol) in hydrogel, pH of solution and swelling temperature upon the swelling characteristic of PVA-hydrogel prosthetic nucleus material were studied. Its micropores were observed using SEM, and the swelling dynamics was further discussed. The experimental results showed that the poly (vinyl alcohol) hydrogel was a kind of network with a lot of micropores, the pore size was related with the PVA content. The maximum swelling ratio decreases when the percentage of PVA in hydrogel, the pH of solution and the swelling temperature were enhanced. The swelling process was described by the equation of swelling dynamics equation. The swelling rate was greatly influenced by the PVA content, the pH of solution and the dimension of hydrogel sample.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2004;21(3):347-349
For the purpose of developing of disc nucleus replacement (semicrystalline PVA hydrogel elastomers) and explorating the possibility of clinical application, in this study, the aqueous PVA solution froze at -20 degrees C for 6-12 h, and then thawed at room temperature for 1-2 h. The same process was repeated 1-3 times. After the specimen was dehydrated in vacuum, a kind of artificial disc nucleus materials (semicrystalline PVA hydrogel elastomers ) was formed. DSC and mechanical tests were conducted to investigate the influence of aqueous PVA solution concentration, of dehydrating in vacuum, and of gamma-ray irradiating upon the degree of crystallity and mechanical properties of PVA hydrogel elastomers.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic human recombinant FSH (rhFSH) in women with anovulation of WHO groupⅡ. Methods A randomized, blind, parallel-controlled, non-inferiority and multicenter study was performed. A total of 534 admitted to 13 hospitals from May 2008 to August 2009. There were 531 women with ovulatory disorder was included in the statistical analysis, were randomly divided into test group (domestic rhFSH, n=352) and control group (imported rhFSH, n=179). Percentage of cycle with mature follicle, ovulation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, multiple pregnancy rate, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and adverse events were observed. Results No statistical significant differences (P>0.05) were observed between the two groups in terms of the efficiency on mature follicle [91.8%(323/352) versus 88.8%(159/179)], ovulation rate [91.3%(295/323) verus 90.6%(144/159)], clinical pregnancy rate [19.2%(62/323) verus 18.2%(29/159)], the number of the follicles<14 mm, the level of serum LH and progesterone, the thickness of endometrium on the day of hCG administration. The number of follicle≥18 mm and 14 mm≤follicle<18 mm and the level of serum estradiol on the day of hCG in the test group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The number of days of rhFSH administration in the test group was significantly less than that in the control group [(9.8±2.2) versus (11.4± 0.6) days, P<0.05], the dosage of rhFSH was significantly lower than that in the control group [(879 ± 419) versus (1 043 ± 663) U, P<0.05]. The multiple pregnancy rate in the test group was significantly higher than that in the control group [21% (13/62) versu 10% (3/29), P<0.05]. The incidence of OHSS and adverse events were similar between the two groups (P>0.05), and no other adverse events were observed in test group during treatment. Conclusion Ovarian stimulation with domestic rhFSH is effective, safe and economical in women with anovulation of WHO groupⅡ.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2007;24(2):356-359
The purpose of this study is to characterize the stress relax properties of PVA-H prosthetic nucleus via the four-parameter linear viscoelastic model and to analyze the influence of swelling ratio and initial PVA content upon the properties of dissipating compressive stress. The four-parameter linear viscoelastic model can simulate the viscoelastic property of prosthetic nucleus well (corr > 0.99) and be more effective than the three parameter linear viscoelastic model. From the parameters of this model we have obtained the following results: the prosthetic nucleus of higher water content can dissipate compressive stress more quickly than that of lower water content can do, but the quantity of stress relax can not be influenced by water content; the higher the initial PVA content, the slower and smaller the dissipation of compressive stress;the relax time of prosthetic nucleus is similar to that of human nucleus.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture treatment based on Tiaoshen theory for the patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) and depression with liver-stomach disharmony syndrome. Methods:A total of 76 FD patients from May 2018 to August 2019 were randomly divided into 2 groups with 38 patients in each group. In the routine group, acupoints were selected routinely, and in Tiaoshen group, acupoints were selected by Tiaoshen theory. Both groups were treated for 28 days. The results were evaluated by Nepean Dyspepsia Index (NDI), TCM Syndrome Score and Hamilton Depression Scale-24 (HAMD-24). Results:The total effective rate of both groups was 94.6% (35/37) in Tiaoshen group and 75.0% (27/36) in routine group. There was significant difference between the two groups ( χ2=6.125, P=0.011). The NDI in Tiaoshen group was significantly lower than that of routine group ( t=3.038, P=0.003). The scores of interference domain, control domain, food and beverage domain and sleep disturbance domain in Tiaoshen group were significantly higher than those in routine group ( t=3.096, 2.460, 2.225, 2.732, P<0.05); the TCM Syndrome Score in Tiaoshen group was significantly lower than that of routine group ( t=3.241, P=0.002), and that of HAMD-24 was significantly lower than that of routine group ( t=2.767, P=0.007). Conclusion:Treatment based on Tiaoshen theory can improve the quality of life of FD patients in the fields of interference, control, food and beverage and sleep disturbance, and reduce the patients’depression.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the synergistic cytotoxicity of TRAIL and paclitaxel on nasopharyngeal cell lines CNE-1 and CNE-2.
METHOD:
CCK-8 assays the growth inhibition rate of CNE-1 and CNE-2 which was treated with TRAIL or paclitaxel or combination of both. Flow cytometry tests the apoptosis rate of CNE-1 and CNE-2 which was treated with TRAIL or paclitaxel or combination of each other.
RESULT:
In certain range of time and concentration,TRAIL and paclitaxel inhibited the growth of the cell lines of CNE-1 and CNE-2 in a time-dose dependent manner (P < 0.05). The rate of growth inhibition and apoptosis in TRAIL and paclitaxel combinative group was more significant than that in the TRAIL and paclitaxel singular group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
TRAIL and paclitaxel had a synergistic killing effect on NPC cell lines and showed better affection than singular group, which provides a novel and prospective strategy for NPC chemotherapy.
