Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):213-216
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of combination of Beyond cold light whitening and fluoride-removing material bleaching system for treatment of dental fluorosis. Methods: Seventy-five patients with light, medium and heavy dental fluorosis were randomly divided into three groups. Twenty-five patients with 150 dental fluorosis from the experiment group were treated with Beyond cold light bleaching combined with fluoride-removing material;Twenty-five patients with 148 dental fluorosis from the control group one were treated with Beyond cold light bleaching. Twenty-five patients with 148 dental fluorosis from the control group two were treated with fluoride-removing material. The changes of teeth color were evaluated by Vita shade guide matching after treatment. Results: All of the light dental fluorosis in three groups had good lightening efficacy and 100% bleaching efficacy. The Shade value improvement and overall efficacy of observer group were better than the control groups for the medium and heavy fluorosis(P<0.05). Conclusion: Beyond cold light whitening combined with fluoride-removing material in bleaching is a good method for dental fluorosis bleaching.

Objective To investigate the effect of enteral nutrition support on prognosis in patients with severe acute stroke. Methods Ninety-eight cases of severe acute stroke were divided into nutrition supported group(50 cases) and control group(48 cases) randomly. All patients were treated by conventional therapy.Nutrition supported group received high energy nutrition diet and control group received common liquid diet by nasal feeding. The levels of hemoglobin, serum albumin, neurologic impairment score (NIHSS)and the incidence rates of complications were assessed at the 1st,10 th and 21st day after admission. Results Hemoglobin was (122.5 ± 2.4),(106.4 ± 2.8) g/L and serum albumin was (36.5 ± 4.7),(34.2 ± 5.1) g/L at the 21st day after admission in nutrition supported group and control group, and there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05).The complication rate in control group was higher than that in nutrition supported group (P< 0.05).NIHSS score was(8.45 ± 3.02) scores in nutrition supported group and (10.24 ± 2.57)scores in control group at the 21st day after admission, and there was significant difference between two groups (P <0.05).Conclusion Early enteral nutrition support can significantly improve nutritional status and decrease the incidence rates of complications in patients with severe acute stroke, and it is helpful for clinical prognosis.

Objective To investigate the inheritance principle of the expanded GAG repeat allele and the clinical features of spinocerebellar ataxias 3 (SCA3) in a consanguinity family with first cousin marriage. Methods The CAG repeats of SCA3 gene were amplified by means of polymerase chain reaction.Fragment analysis with laser-induced fluorescence in capillary electrophoresis were performed for the positive samples detected by agarose gel electrophoresis.Furthermore, the clinical features were analyzed carefully. Results Fragment analysis revealed that the proband carried 2 alleles with 56 and 72 CAG repeats separately. The proband' s father carried 28 and 66,and the expanded CAG repeat allele inherited from his grandfather. The proband' s mother carried 33 and 56,and the expanded CAG repeat allele inherited from his grandmother. The proband' s son carried 27 and 85 and presented with dystonia besides ataxia. Conclusions The proband' s parents have the common ancestors.Their alleles with expanded CAG repeats probably come from the same allele of their ancestor. The GAG repeat is more unstable in the paternal inheritance than in the maternal inheritance. The 71-year-old asymptomatic family member carry the allele with 56 CAG repeats, which indicates the 56 CAG repeats may be not associated with the disease. The patients within this family have variable clinical features, especially the juvenile-onset case presents with apparent dystonia.

Objective To assess the association between HLA-DQA 1 alleles and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in populations of Uygur nationality in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Methods Polvmerase chain reactionsequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP) were used to analyze the HLA-DQA1 gene in 56 patients with SLE and 54 unrelated healthy controls of Uygur nationalitv in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Results Compared with the heahhv controls, the SLE patients showed signifieantly increased frequency of HLA-DQA1*0302 (x2 =10.032, P =0.004), but decreased frequency ofHLA-DQA1*0101 (x2 =5.676, P=0.017).Conclusion HLA-DQA1*0302 may be a susceptibility gene, while HLA-DQA1*0101 may be a protective factor for SLE in populations of Uygur nationality in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(10):-
Angiogenesis is of great importance to a variety of normal physiological processes and pathological disorders. It is tightly regulated by many mechanisms, among which vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is one of the most potent promoters.VEGF binds and activates its specific receptor tyrosine kinases, especially vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2(VEGFR-2).VEGFR-2 mediates the key functional and biochemical effects of VEGF in endothelial cells including proliferation, migration, survival, and permeability.Following its binding to VEGF, VEGFR-2 dimerizes and undergoes autophosphorylation on tyrosine residues within its cytoplasmic portion. This creates docking sites for adapter molecules to be recruited through their Src homology domain-2(SH2).These adapter molecules can then initiate the activation of downstream signaling cascades.Further down-stream effector molecules are activated, and regulate the biological effects of endothelial cells. It is also foound that VEGF/VEGFR-2 signaling pathway may negatively regulate the function of human monocyte-derived mature dendritic cells(DCs) as well as the maturation of immature-DCs.Advances in the understanding of the VEGF/VEGFR-2 signaling pathway may contribute to the discovery of kinds of pharmaceutical agents.

Now human parasites are still important pathogens to harm human health.Researches on parasites have ranged from the simple aetiology to the field of studying vital phenomena by modern science. However some domestic medical colleges cut out the course of human parasitology without enough consideration.Aiming directly at this phenomenon the author has discussed the scientific orientation of human parasitology in preclinical medicine education and expounded the point of view.

UNLABELLEDOBJECTIVE To examine survival differences in prognosis and survival between patients with HPV-positive and those with HPV-negative oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC).
METHODSPubmed, Embase, Web of science and Medline databases were searched from their inception till June 2014. A random-effect meta-analysis was used to pool study estimates evaluating overall (all-cause mortality), disease-specific (death from OPSCC), disease-free (recurrence free), progression-free survival outcomes and local regional control rate in HPV-positive vs HPV-negative OPSCC. After study selection, two reviewers assessed and extracted data independently. Meta-analysis was performed using the STATA 11.0 software.
RESULTSThirty-seven studies were included. HPV-positive OPSCC patients had a better overall survival compared to HPV-negative patients (HR 0.39, 95% CI 0.32-0.46). HPV-positive OPSCC patients had a significantly lower disease specific mortality (HR 0.31, 95% CI 0.22-0.39) and were less likely to experience progression or recurrence of their cancers than HPV-negative patients (HR 0.34, 95% CI 0.25-0.42). Both disease-free survival and progression-free survival were significantly improved in patients with HPV-positive OPSCC ( HR 0.38, 95% CI 0.29-0.47 and HR 0.46, 95% CI 0.29-0.63, respectively).
CONCLUSIONSHPV infection is an important prognostic factor of OPSCC. Stratified therapies can be applied in OPSCC based on HPV status of tumours.
