1.A CLINICAL AND ETIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF 230 CASES OF DERMATOPHYTOSIS IN OLD PEOPLE
Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Medical Sciences) 1981;0(03):-
A clinical and etiological analysis of 230 cases of dermatophytosis was carried out in old people. Of them 164 were male(71%)and 66 female (29%) with male to female ratio 3: 1. Five kinds of diseases were classfied clinically, in which the most common type was Tinea Pedisin 155 cases (67.3%). Four species of dermatophytes were cultured, of which the trichophyton Rubrum was the highest positive (37%)and the most frequent causative agent of the hyperkeratotic type of Tinea Pedis. The results indicate that Tinea Pedis is a focus of skin infection. Therefore, an active treatment and prevention of dermatophytosis should be made in the aged.

The mononuclear cells in early skin lesions of 10 patients with extensive psoriasis vulgaris in progressive stage were studied by biotin-avidin-peroxidase method using monoclonal antibodies. The results show that increased mononuclear cells in the early skin lesions, expressing HLA-DR antigen mostly, consist of T lymphocytes and macrophases with a preponderance of T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes are absent, activated T lympocytes are usually in close proximity to DR~+ cells including dentritic cells and keratinocytes, indicating that the initial psoriatic lesion correlates closely with imbalance of cellular immunity.
