Objective To provide a scientific basis for prevention of Keshan disease by observing the changes of electrocardiogram in residents from Keshan disease area and urban residents in Ju County.Method In 2013,four countries (towns) of Sangyuan,Anzhuang,Qishan and Longshan were selected as the investigation sites across the Keshan disease areas in Ju County of Shandong Province, one village was selected in each country (town),no less than 200 people were chosen from each village. There were 36 residential communities in urban area in Ju County, one residential community was selected from 4 positions (east, west, south and north) in urban area,no less than 200 non-endemic urban residents were chosen from each residential community as control, the electrocardiogram examination was conducted.According to the Keshan Disease Diagnostic Standard (WS/T 210-2011),Keshan disease was diagnosed. Results Among the 964 inhabitants investigated in Keshan disease area,143 cases showed abnormal electrocardiogram and the detection rate was 14.83%;in the 926 cases of urban electrocardiogram,78 cases showed abnormal electrocardiogram, abnormal rate was 8.42%,the difference was statistically significant (x2 =18.80,P < 0.01).There were 93 cases who met the 8 Keshan disease diagnostic criteria of abnormal electrocardiogram changes in the Keshan disease areas, abnormal rate was 9.65%;while there were 37 cases in urban residents, abnormal rate was 4.00%,the difference was statistically significant (x2 =23.55,P < 0.01).Conclusion These residents who have lived in Keshan disease endemic areas have a higher rate of abnormal electrocardiogram in Ju County of Shandong Province, they are still threatened by the causative factors of Keshan disease, and the authority should strengthen the prevention measures of Keshan disease.

Objectives To explore the change of interleukin-17 (IL-17) in Kawasaki disease (KD). Methods Fourty KD pediatric patients, among them 12 patients with echocardiographic abnormalities in acute phase, 25 age-matched non-KD patients were enrolled. The level of serum IL-17 was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in acute and convalescent phase of KD patients and non-KD patients. At the same time, C-reactive protein (CRP), globulin, albumin were detected. Results In acute phase of KD patients, the level of serum IL-17 were signiifcantly higher than that in convalescent phase of KD patients and non-KD patients (P<0.05). The level of serum IL-17 was no signiifcant differences in convalescent phase of KD patients and non-KD patients (P>0.05). In acute phase of KD patients with echocardiography abnormalities, the level of serum IL-17 was signiifcantly higher than that with non-echocardiography abnormalities (P<0.05). The level of serum IL-17 in acute phase of KD patients were positively correlated with CRP and globulin (r=0.750, 0.750, P<0.05), and negatively correlated with albumin (r=-0.779, P<0.05). Conclusions IL-17 may be involved in KD immune pathogenesis. Serum IL-17 is one of the activity index of KD, which associ-ated with cardiovascular damages.

Objective To explore the effect of continuous aspiration of subglottic secretion at different negative pressure levels on mechanical ventilation. Methods Toally 142 patients were randomized by way of lottery into the control group (n=70) and the experiment group ( n = 72 ): the control group received continuous negative pressure aspiration of subglottic secretion at a negative pressure of 60 mmHg while the experiment group did 30~40 mmHg for grade I of the sticky secretion , 40~60 mmHg for gradeⅡ~Ⅲof the sticky secretion, respectively. The two groups were compared in terms of the rate of ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP), airway mucosal injury and cough. Result There was no significant difference in the rate of ventilator associated pneumonia (P>0.05), but the rates of airway mucosal injury and cough were lower in the experiment group than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion It is reasonable to choose different negative pressure levels based on stickiness of the secretions for mechanical ventilation, for it can prevent the ventilator associated pneumonia and airway mucosal injury.

Objective To assess the activation of PI3K-AKT-mTOR signal pathway in Burkitt lymphoma. Methods The phosphorylation levels of AKT,mTOR and RPS6 were detected in the tissue sections by immunohistochemistry in 13 cases of Burkitt lymphomas and 14 cases of reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes. Results The phosphorylation rates of AKT,mTOR and RPS6 were higher in Burkitt lymphoma than those in reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes [84.6 %(11/13) vs 64.2 %(9/14),100.0 %(13/13) vs 71.4 % (10/14),100.0 % (13/13) vs 78.6 % (11/14),all P <0.05].Conclusion PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway is abnormally activated in Burkitt lymphoma.

Background and Objectives:
p21, an important member of the Cip/Kip family, is involved in inhibitory effects of RUNX1b overexpression during the early stage of human hematopoiesis.
Methods:
and Results: We established a human embryonic stem cell (hESC) line with inducible expression of p21 (p21/hESCs). Overexpression of p21 did not influence either mesoderm induction or emergence of CD34+ cells, but it significantly decreased the production of CD43+ cells and changed the expression profile of hematopoiesis-related factors, leading to the negative effects of p21 on hematopoiesis.
Conclusions
In RUNX1b/hESC co-cultures when RUNX1b was induced from D0, perturbation of the cell cycle caused by upregulation of p21 probably prevented the appearance of CD43+ cells, but not CD34+ cells. The mechanisms via which CD34+ cells are blocked by RUNX1b overexpression remain to be elucidated.

OBJECTIVES:
We assessed the role of social support in presenteeism by examining organizational commitment among Chinese healthcare workers.
METHODS:
One thousand four hundred thirty-four healthcare workers from 6 hospitals in 4 Chinese cities completed a questionnaire measuring presenteeism, social support, and organizational commitment. With organizational commitment as the mediator, regression analyses and structural equation modeling were used to test the model.
RESULTS:
Organizational commitment was directly inversely associated with presenteeism (β = - 0.42, p < 0.001). Coworker support was moderately but significantly inversely associated with presenteeism (β = - 0.15, p < 0.001), but the path from supervisor support to presenteeism was not significant (β = 0.05, p > 0.05). The correlation between supervisor support and coworker support was significant (β = 0.71, p <0.001). Supervisor support and coworker support were significantly positively associated with organizational commitment (β = 0.41, p < 0.001, and β = 0.14, p < 0.001, respectively).
CONCLUSIONS
Supervisor support was more important in promoting organizational commitment, while coworker support was more effective in reducing presenteeism. The mediating effect of organizational commitment was significant.
