Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(4):227-229
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of moxibustion plus Mecobalamin in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: Eighty subjects were equally allocated into combination and control groups. On the basis of the same basic treatment, the combination group was treated by moxibustion plus Mecobalamin and the control group simply by Mecobalamin. Treatment lasted 3 months. Nerve conduction velocity and symptom severity were compared between pre-treatment and post-treatment. Results: Nerve conduction velocity was improved in both combination and control groups and more obviously in the combination group. The marked effective rate, effective rate and ineffective rate were respectively 52.5%, 32.5% and 15.0% in the combination group and 35.0%, 27.5% and 37.5% in the control group. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on a basic treatment, moxibustion plus Mecobalamin is superior to simple Mecobalamin in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
2.Prospects for clinical applications of Cystatin C as a marker of early renal tubular injury and the current problems
Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2003;0(07):-
The renal tubular markers are very important for early diagnosis of renal tubulointerstitial injuries. Urinary excretion of Cystatin C is a sensitive marker of early injury in renal proximal tubule. The particle turbidimetric immunoassay developed in recent years has been used in the autoanalyzer, and may be used in medical laboratories routinely. Urinary cystatin C excretion has early diagnostic value for diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, and drug-induced renal impairments. This tubular marker will be used more frequently for the diagnostic purpose, as the trend of various chronic kidney diseases will be increased in the near future. The current problems to be solved are the standardization of methodology, and the further study according to the guidelines of evidence-based laboratory medicine. In the routine testing, the ratio of a spot urine Cystatin C concentration to creatinine is recommended.

4.Clinical Observation of Tuina in Treating Anorexia in 78 Children
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(6):43-44
Seventy-eight children with anorexia were treated by circling Neibagua, rubbing abdomen and kneading navel, parting-pushing Fuyinyang, pressing Zusanli (ST 36) and pinching spine. Results showed cure in 48 cases, improvement in 27 cases and failure in 3 cases, with a total effective rate of 96.1%.
5.Clinical Experience of Acupoints Needling Sequences
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2007;5(2):71-73
This paper summarizes and analyzes the needling sequences in clinical practice. It is concluded that between the cardinal acupoints and adjunct acupoints, the former ones are first needled; in the emergency conditions, the branch (biao) acupoints are first needled; in the chronic diseases, the root (ben) are first needled; as to several diseases, the first-happened disease is first treated; furthermore, the needling sequence also depends upon the treatment method, and the acupoints of special functions are first needled.

Chinese Journal of Digestion 2011;31(7):460-464
Objective To explore association between the changes of myenteric nerve plexus and the delayed gastrointestinal transit in acute necrotic pancreatitis (ANP) rat complicated with hyperlipemia. Methods Atotal of 40 male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (normal control group, ANP group, hyperlipemia (HL) control group and HL with ANP group). HL rat model was established by fed with high-fat diet for 4 weeks, and ANP rat model was induced by retrograde injection of 3.5% sodium taurocholate into pancreatic duct. Gastrointestina1 transit distance was measured by ink gavage method. The histological changes of cholinergic and nitriergic nerves in myenteric plexus were observed by Karnovsky-Root method and NADPH histochemistry method. Results Pathological injuries were more severe in HL with ANP group than in ANP group (12.8±0.63 vs. 10.8±1.93,P<0.01), gastrointestinal transit was obviously delayed (transmission rate was 27%±5% vs. 38%±6%,P<0.01), the density of cholinergic neurons decreased (4.80±1.23 vs. 5.80±0.79, P<0.05), and the density of nitriergic neurons significantly increased (8.70±0.75 vs. 6.80±1.48, P<0.01). There was a linear regression between changes of cholinergic and nitrievgic nerves in myenteric nerve plexus and gastrointestinal transit (R2=0.531, P<0.01). Conclusion There was significant gastrointestinal motility disorder in the ANP rat complicated with hyperlipemia, which may be closely related with the changes of myenteric nerve plexus.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2006;4(5):310-311
Objective:Thirty-three cases of nerve tinnitus were treated mainly by needling acupoints Baihui(GV 20), Tinggong(SI 19), Tinghui(GB 2), Yifeng(TE 17) and Zhongzhu(TE 3). In the presence of kidney deficiency, Shenshu(BL 23) and Mingmen(GV 4) were added; in the presence of liver-gallbladder fire preponderance, Taichong(LR 3) and Qiuxu(GB 40) were added; in the presence of exogenous wind heat, Waiguan(TE 5) and Hegu(LI 4) were added. After 6-course treatments, 6 cases were cured, 22 cases improved and 2 cases failed, with the total effective rate of 93.9%.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(2):33-37
Objective: To analyze the short-term and long-term effects of non-operative therapy in the treatment of prolapsed lumbar intervertebral discs. Methods: One hundred and sixty-five subjects were randomized in single-blind method into traction group (A), Tuina group (B), and Tuina and exercise group (C); after 2 courses of treatment, the short-term effects were evaluated. Moreover, 102 cases with significant short-term effects were randomized in single-blind method into exercise group (D) and control group (E). The relapse rates in the two groups were survey one year after treatment; and the lumbar functions were assessed respectively six months and twelve months after treatment. Results: Groups B and C had obviously better effects than group A (χ2=8.359, P<0.01); the relapse rate after one year was strikingly lower in group D than group E (χ2=12.631, P<0.01). Conclusion: Tuina plus functional exercise is an effective method in the prevention and treatment of prolapsed lumbar intervertebral discs.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2003;1(4):24-26
Purpose To observe the curative effect of electroacupuncture in treating depression. Method Two hundred and ten subjects were randomly divided into electroacupuncture group and medication group. Results and conclusion The results were evaluated by an international depression scale in both groups. After one-course treatment, the average score markedly decreased in both groups, and a t-test showed that there was a significant difference in curative effect between before and after treatment in each group ( P < 0.001 ); but there was no such a difference between the two groups (P > 0.05 ).Electroacupuncture can be compared favorably with amitriptyline, an antidepressant. However, taking amitriptyline will produce some side effects. Therefore electroacupuncture is especially suitable for those who cannot take medicine.

To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture plus rehabilitation exercise in treating post-apoplectic dysphagia. Methods:The patients were randomly allocated into treatment and control groups. The treatment group was treated by acupuncturing points Fengchi(GB 20),Tianzhu(BL 10),Tongli(HT 5) and Lianquan(CV 23) plus rehabilitation exercises and the control group only by rehabilitation exercise. Results:The total effective rate was 95.0% in the treatment group and 71.9% in the control group. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion:Acupuncture plus rehabilitation exercise can improve the curative effect on postapoplectic dysphagia.
