2.Analysis of current epidemiological situation of measles and strategies for controlling measles in Xinjiang
Chinese Journal of Disease Control & Prevention 2001;5(1):27-29
Objective To analyze the current epidemiological situation of measles and to put forward strategies for controlling measles in Xinjiang. Methods A descriptive epidemiology was performed to survey incidence of measles in Xinjiang from 1953~1999. Results The highest incidence rate of 1 155.14 per 100 000 was reported in 1964. Since 1 965, the measles incidence had dramatically decreased with using measles vaccine in Xinjiang, particularly the action of launching EPI program since 1984. The l owest incidence rate of 7.85 per 100 000 was achieved in 1990. From 1990~1 999 cases mostly concentrated on preschool and school children. Seasonal distri b ution of measles was in April and May. Conclusions It is urgent to improve efficacy of measles vaccine, to establish measles epidemiological an d laboratory surveillance system, and to strengthen immunization for measles and controlling of the outbreak.

Objective A biomechanical comparison of three kinds of internal fixation for intercondylar fracture of humerus was, made so as to provide a theoretical basis for clinical practice. Methods 18 fresh humeri were used to reproduce T-type intercondylar fracture, and three different fixation appliances were applied, including cross Kirschner wire with addition of “8” wire, single “Y” type plate, 1/3 tubular plate with reconstruction plate. Biomechanical tests were performed on these specimens. Result Under the same load condition, 1/3 tubular plate with reconstruction plate yielded the best results, while crossing Kirschner wire with “8” wire was the poorest. Conclusion The results showed that 1/3 tubular plate with reconstruction plate was a good internal fixation appliance. It has a proper design and stability, but it is not easy to apply. Therefore, an optimal method should be chosen according to local condition in clinical practice.

[Objective]To investigate the cytotoxicity of cobalt(Co2+) and chromium(Cr3+)ions on mice osteoblast(MC3T3E1)and the effects on the secretion of RANKL/OPG from osteoblast because of the stimulation of Co2+ and Cr3+ ions. [Methods]The osteoblast in vitri was cultured. The cell viability was assured by MTT test.ELISA method was applied to detect RANKL(receptor activator of nuclear factor-kB ligand),OPG(osteoprotegerin) content in serum supernatant.[Results]Compared to the control,MTT test demonstrated that Co2+ and Cr3+ ions can obviously decrease the cell viability of osteoblast. When osteoblast were exposed to Co2+ and Cr3+ ions for 24 and 48 hours, the releasion of OPG increased by 32.1% and 17.8% as compared with the control(P

Objective To build artificial dermis by using the acellular dermis, collagen membrane and collagen gel as scaffolds. Methods The fibroblasts were isolated from infant skin. The 3~(rd) generation cells were seeded into 3 different scaffolds. The artificial dermis was detected by HE staining, phase contrast microscope or scanning electron microscope. Results The fibroblasts implanted on the ADM began to rupture and died after 2 to 3 days.Though the fibroblasts proliferated well in collagen gel,the artificial dermis contracted obviously.Another artificial dermis contracted slightly by inoculating fibroblasts on collagen membrane, and the fibroblasts on them were in appropriate proliferation. Conclusion The artificial dermis built by collagen membrane as scaffolds has a preferable structure for an ideal substitute of skin.

Objective To study the effects of Bitong mixture on children with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp in perioperative period. Methods 72 patients acquired for nasal endoscope were randomly divided into a combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment group and a control group. The control group was given traditional western medical treatment, and treatment group was given Bitong mixture on that basis. Results ①clinical effects:Total effective rate of postoperative 3 months、6 months、9 months was 94.59%、88.89%、80.00% in the treatment group respectively and 88.57%、80.00%、66.67% in the control group respectively.Compared the two groups after treatment at the same time, differences were statistically significant (x2=6.41 、6.81、7.22,P<0.05).The efficacy of 12 months after operation in the treatment group and control group declined compared with that of 3 months after operation in each group, but still significant differences existed between groups (x2=6.08、6.98,P<0.05).②symptom score:symptoms improvements such as alleviating headaches 、reducing pus stuff at 2 weeks 、1 months 、3 months after treatment in the treatment group was obvious than those before the treatment (P<0.01),and also better than those in the control group at the same time. The improving blocked nose, sense of smell after three months treatment in the treatment group were better than those of the control group respectively at the time(P<0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine can effectively improve symptoms, enhance the curative effect in children with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp at perioperative period, and it is worth of further clinical application and research.

Objective To investigate the impacts of clinical features, blood and biochemical parameters on survival of patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods Two hundred and four patients with pathologically performed pancreatic cancer were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were followed-up by means of phone. Results The survival rate of 204 patients with pancreatic cancer was 32.8% at 1-year, 13.7% at 3-year and 2.9% at 5-year, with medium survival time of 6.4 months. Univariate examination showed that the long survival time was found in patients with radical or palliate operation in comparison with those without (P<0.01). The factors that impacted on the survival times were high tumor marker, .high serum creatinine, high white blood cells, low hemoglobin and low albumin (P<0.01). Whereas the patients with high levels of ALT and AST had long survival time (P(0.05). COX regression analysis revealed that those with advanced stage, low albumin and high creatinine had short survival time(P<0.05). Conclusions Surgery, tumor stage, tumor marker, hemoglobin, white blood cell, albumin and creatinine are independent prognostic factors.

Deubiquitinating enzymes, reversing protein ubiquitination, most of the researches focused on the ifeld of molecular biology. However, it have not yet attracted enough attention in translational medicine research. In fact, target proteins of deubiquitinating enzymes affect the tumor progression through various ways, for example, cell apoptosis and autophagy, the link between inlfammation and cancer, tumor hypoxia, signal transduction, cell cycle regulation and DNA damage. This paper reviewed the research progress on the relations between deubiquitinating enzymes and the correlated factors of tumor.

To further explore the result of bilingual teaching in pediatrics,we randomly chose 200 undergraduates of 4 class and released students'questionnaires about bilingual teaching with teaching content before and after class to assess students'understanding of bilingual teaching and analysed appraisal result. We found no significant difference of student score between students accepting bilingual teaching and not accepting the bilingual teaching, but there was difference for English tests and expression level. So we think that students can fully accept the bilingual teaching of pediatrics under the premise with selecting appropriate teaching methods and means.
