Objective To investigate the principles of combined traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment of early postoperation inflammatory small bowel obstruction(EPISBO).Methods 93 cases of EPISBO were randomly divided into two groups including group A,47 cases received combined traditional Chinese and west- ern medicine treatment,and group B 46 received only western medicine treatment.Results 93 patients were all cured through nonsurgical treatment.The combined traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment was better in symtom improvement and reduce of expense.Conclusion The principle treatment of EPISBO is mainly nonsurgical. The traditional Chinese medicine and somatostatin are very important.

Objective To investigate the correlation between the mutation in serum lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2) Ile198Thr, Val279Phe and cerebral infarction in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province. Methods One hundred fifty patients with cerebral infarction and 100 healthy controls in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province were recruited. The correlation between Val279Phe and Ilel98Thr mutation in Lp-PLA2 gene and cerebral infarction was analyzed using polymerase chain reaction and denaturing high performance liquid chromatography. Results The Val279Phe genotype and the mutant allele frequency in the cerebral infarction group were significantly higher than those in the control group (χ2 were 6. 31and 5. 32, respectively, all P ＜0. 05), and there was no significant difference between the Ile198Thr genotype and the mutant allele frequency in the control group (χ2 were 0. 039 and 0. 037, respectively, all P ＞0. 05). Conclusions The Val279Phe mutation in Lp-PLA2 gene may be a genetic risk factor for cerebral infarction in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province.

Objective To evaluate the role of large conductance calcium-activated potassium (BKCa) channels in vascular hyporesponsiveness in rats with obstructive jaundice.Methods Eighteen male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 180-200 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =6 each) using a random number table:control group (group C),sham operation group (group S),and bile duct ligation group (group BDL).Obstructive jaundice was produced by common bile duct ligation.At 7 days after surgery,blood samples were collected for determination of the levels of serum total bilirubin (TBL),direct bilirubin (DBL),indirect bilirubin (IBL),alanine aminotransferase (ALT),and aspartate aminotransferase (AST).Thoracic aortic rings were prepared,and the endothelium was removed.The aortic rings were sequentially perfused with different concentrations of norepinephrine (NE) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP),and the maximum amplitude of contraction and dilatation of aortic rings was recorded.The aortic rings were then perfused with BKCa channel blocker Chtx with the final concentration of 10 7 mol/L,followed by perfusion with different concentrations of NE and SNP again,and the maximum amplitude of contraction and dilatation of aortic rings was recorded under each concentration.The percentage of maximum contraction and dilatation (maximum amplitude after Chtx administration÷maximum amplitude before Chtx administration× 100％) was calculated.Results Compared with C and S groups,the levels of TBL,DBL,IBL,ALT and AST in serum were significantly increased,the maximum amplitude of NE-induced contraction of aortic rings was decreased,and the percentage of the maximum NE-induced dilatation of aortic rings was increased,the maximum amplitude of SNP-induced contraction of aortic rings was increased,and the percentage of the maximum SNP-induced dilatation of aortic rings was decreased in group BDL.Conclusion Excessivc opening of BKCa channels may be involved in the mechanism of vascular hyporesponsiveness in rats with obstructive jaundice.

A novel drug delivery system combining oral fast dissolving film with sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid mixed micelles was prepared to increase the absorption of cucurbitacin B that is a poor aqueous solubility substance. Encapsulation efficiency, particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity coefficient, investigated the morphology, disintegration time of oral fast dissolving film and the pharmacodynamic properties of cucurbitacin B sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles before and after solidified in mice were evaluated and compared. The oral fast dissolving film prepared in this study showed a homogeneous pale yellow and could completely disintegrated in the 30 s. It could meet the requirements of rapidly disintegrating fully. The encapsulation efficiency, particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity coefficient of cucurbitacin B sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles loaded in oral fast dissolving film were (43.36 +/- 2.12)%, (108.82 +/- 5.2) nm, (-34.18 +/- 1.07) mV, 0.088 +/- 0.012, respectively. The encapsulation efficiency, particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity coefficient of cucurbitacin B sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles in solution were (41.26 +/- 2.22)%, (181.82 +/- 4.48) nm, (-30.67 +/- 0.81) mV, 0.092 +/- 0.012, respectively. The difference of pharmacodynamics among film of cucurbitacin B-loaded micelles, cucurbitacin B-loaded micelles and free cucurbitacin B in vivo was compared. Solubility of cucurbitacin B loaded in sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles has also been greatly improved. The tumor inhibition rate of cucurbitacin B loaded in sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles was significantly improved and did not change significantly before and after solidified. These showed that the sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles could enhance the antitumor activities of cucurbitacin B and the stability of cucurbitacin B sodium deoxycholate/phospholipid-mixed micelles was improved significantly after solidified by oral fast dissolving film technology without pharmacodynamic properties changed significantly.

Bioprocess equipment is of great importance in application of modern industrial biotechnology.With the rapid development of industrial biotechnology,demands for talents capable of understanding the theory,design and manipulation of modern bioprocess equipment increased.The experiences in aspects such as the building of teachers' contingent,construction of teaching materials,innovation of teaching method from the top-quality course construction of Bioprocess Equipment was discussed in this paper.

Student preparation for laboratory sessions is the first step of conducting laboratory experiments. It makes students maximize use of laboratory time and efficiently perform laboratory exercises in open labs. In view of teaching features and requirements of Microbiology experiment, we designed and developed ‘Online Student Preparation and Management System of Microbiology Experiment’, which integrated func- tions of student preparation for laboratory sessions and teacher management. In the system each experiment consists of six successive parts, viz., learning objectives, principle, materials and equipments, procedure video, manipulation simulation and online quiz. Teaching practices showed that the application of the system enhanced the preparing quality and makes the management of the experiment teaching more normalized and efficient. It was an effective measure in improving experimental teaching of Microbiology.

Objective To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and carotid atherosclerosis (CAS) progression in patients with high risk of stroke,and to provide clinical evidence for the primary prevention of stroke.Methods Three hundred and thirty-two patients with high risk of stroke were screened from 2 800 people who were consecutively selected and had health examination from June to December 2014 in the Department of Medical Center,General Hospital of Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group.Their clinical information was collected.A total of 267 patients whose carotid ultrasound examinations showed plaques and stenosis were selected for the study.Two hundred and three of the 267 patients who met the screening conditions and completed the follow-up were selected as study subjects.The Hp infection status was detected by the 14C urea breath test and the dynamic progression of CAS was observed.The risk factors of CAS progression were also analyzed.Results Hp infection was found in 170 of 332 patients with high risk of stroke.Among the 267 patients who prompted plaques and stenosis in carotid ultrasound in 2014,203 patients were followed up for 1 year,and 133 patients (65.5％,133/203) were found infected by Hp.Forty-six patients had suggestive carotid stenosis and stenosis aggravating in 2015,31 (67.4％,31/46) of which were found infected by Hp.Logistic regression analysis showed that smoking (OR =1.632,95％ CI 1.275-1.940,P =0.011),systolic blood pressure (OR =1.343,95％ CI 1.105-1.632,P =0.019),low density lipoprotein (OR =1.590,95％ CI 1.188-2.005,P =0.005),oxidative low density lipoprotein (OR =1.732,95％ CI 1.325-2.170,P =0.000) and Hp infection (OR =1.672,95％ CI 1.180-2.154,P =0.016) were independent risk factors for carotid atheroslerosis progression.Conclusions Hp infection was found closely related to CAS progression in patients at high risk of stroke.Positive and effective prevention of Hp infection,advocating smoking cessation and controlling blood pressure and blood fat can effectively reduce the incidence of stroke.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of comprehensive assessment of the whole aorta and coronary arteries (CA) simultaneously with high-pitch 128-slice dual-source CT ECG-gated FLASH protocol.Methods A total of 48 consecutive patients with suspected aortic diseases underwent CTA examination of the whole aorta and CA using a ECG-gated FLASH CT protocol (pitch =3.2) without heart rate (HR) control.Aorta,aortic valves and CA were shown with different post-processing modalities.The image quality of the aorta,aortic valves and CA was evaluated and compared according to HR (low HR group ≤ 65 bpm,high HR group ＞ 65 bpm).The scan time,effective dose and contrast medium volume were recorded.Inter-observer differences were calculated by Kappa test.Differences between groups were analyzed by Mann-Whitney test with count data and variance test with measurement data.Results All examinations were completed successfully.The image quality was acceptable in the aorta,aortic valve (100％,48/48) and CA (94.0％,551/586).Percentage of diagnostic quality images was slightly higher in low HR group (94.7％,232/245,93.5％,319/341,Z =-2.504,P ＜ 0.05).Inter-reader reproducibility was 95.8％ (46/48) in the aorta and aortic valve,96.6％ (566/586) in CA,yielded good agreement (Kappa =0.81 and 0.89).The mean attenuation of aorta and CA were higher than 300 HU,especially in low HR group (357.0-446.0) HU.Except proximal segment of right CA,the CNR of whole aorta and coronary arteries were significantly higher in the low HR group (24.5-29.0) than that in the high HR group (20.0-23.1,P ＜0.05).SNR of the whole aorta was higher in the low HR group (13.7-17.9) than the high HR group (11.5-13.9,P ＜ 0.05).The mean scan time was (1.56 ± 0.08) s,effective dose was (4.12 ± 1.23) mSv (2.77-6.77 mSv),and contrast medium volume was (72.8 ± 2.1) ml.Conclusions CT angiography of whole aorta and coronary arteries could be performed simultaueously within 2 seconds with CT ECG-gated FLASH protocol.The images were of diagnostic quality for aortic and CA disease with low dose of radiation and contrast media.However,high HR could decrease the image quality of CA.

Objective To evaluate the effects of serum procalcitonin (PCT)-guided antibiotic therapy in elderly patients with early-onset stroke-associated pneumonia (EOP).Methods Totally 179 eligible elderly patients with EOP were randomly devided into 2 groups:standard therapy group (standard group,n=88) and PCT-guided group (PCT group,n=91).Patients in standard group received antibiotics according to antibiotics guidelines in China by the treating physicians.Patients in PCT group were treated with antibiotics for 5 days,then the antibiotic treatment was based on serum PCT levels as follows:discouraged if PCT＜0.25 μg/L and encouraged if PCT≥0.25 μg/L.Length of hospitalization,duration of antibiotics,costs of hospitalization and antibiotics,clinical efficacy,andmortality,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score and Barthel index (BI) on the 28th day were observed.Results There were no significant differences in clinical efficacy,mortality,NIHSS score and BI between the two groups on the 28th day [(85.7％ vs.86.3％),(8.8％ vs.7.9％),10.1 (7.8,16.2) vs.9.8 (6.0,15.5),60.1(42.5,82.3) vs.57.9 (39.2,84.8),respectively,all P＞ 0.05].The length of hospitalization,antibiotic duration,costs of hospitalization and antibiotics were lower in PCT group than in standard group [19 (10,38) d vs.26(17,42) d,10 (7,14) dvs.15 (6,21) d,3350 (2052,6163) yuanvs.10355 (6877,15421) yuan,7532 (4810,12116) yuan vs.5358 (3089,8144) yuan,respectively,all P＜0.05].Conclusions PCT guidance of antibiotic therapy is effective and safe for the treatment of early-onset stroke associated pneumonia in elderly patients.It can reduce the antibiotic duration and costs of hospitalization.
