Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(01):-
Royal jelly (2.5g/kg/d igX8d) increased the clearance rate of iv charcoal particles in normal mice, and completely antagonized the decrease of clearance rate caused by cortisone acetate. It also potentiated the delayed type hypersensitivity ( DTH ) reaction of footpad induced by SRBC in normal mice, and entirely antagonized the inhibition of DTH reaction caused by eye lophosphamide. Royal jelly (2.5 g/kg/d ig X 7 d ) had no marked influence on hemolysin formation in normal mice and immunosuppressed mice caused by eye lophosphamide.

Purpose:To clarify the association between renal cysts and renal cell carcinoma (RCC), we analyzed the clinical characteristics of patients with renal cell carcinoma and renal cyst. Methods:From May 1996 to January 2004, a total of 198 patients were hospitalized for renal cell carcinoma in our department, and 64 patients had both renal cysts and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The clinical characteristics of the 64 patients were evaluated, and compared to 106 renal cell carcinoma (RCC)patients without renal cysts from the 198 patients in the same period. Results:Renal cysts were identified by preoperative ultrasonography, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in 37%(22/59)、24%(15/61) and 35%(6/17) respectively. Histopathological examination revealed renal cyst in 15 patients (23%). The sizes of renal cyst were 0.5 to 12 cm. The pathological examinations showed clear cell carcinoma in 61, chromophilic cell carcinoma in 2 and a combined type of clear cell carcinoma and chromophilic cell carcinoma in 1. Compared to RCC patients with those without renal cyst, younger and male RCC patients were easier to also have with renal cyst(P

Objective To investigate the effect of SKP2 expression on radiation induced bystander effect (RIBE) of esophageal cancer cells. Methods The esophageal cancer cell lines with different SKP2 levels were applied for the study and the SKP2 expression was identified by Western blot.Micronuclei (MN) assay and DNA foci assay were used to evaluate the effect of SKP2 on RIBE.The cells were transfected with SKP2 gene or SKP2 siRNA to further verify the effect of SKP2 on RIBE.Results MN assay showed that the bystander effect induced by the cells with a high level of SKP2 was lower than that induced by the cells with a lower level of SKP2 (t =8.06,P < 0.01).These results were further confirmed by the gene transfection experiments. When the expression of SKP2 was increased,RIBE was decreased (t=11.12,10.16,P < 0.01).Contrarily,when the expression of SKP2 was reduced,RIBE was increased (t =8.39,8.83,P < 0.01).γ-H2AX foci formation assay disclosed that when SKP2 expression in the irradiated cells increased, the repair ability of DNA damage in the bystander cells was higher than the control (t =6.85,7.10,P < 0.01).With the expression of SKP2 decreased, the repair ability of DNA damage was lower than the control (t =7.66,8.47,P < 0.01).Conclusions Over-expression of SKP2 inhibits RIBE of esophageal cancer cells,at least partly through regulating DNA damage repair ability.
