Objective To observe the characteristics of the images of optical coherence tomography (OCT) performed on the patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome and its clinical significance. Methods The clinical data of 25 patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome diagnosed by OCT, fundus fluorescein angiography, and B-scan ultrasonography and confirmed by surgical treatment were retrospectively analyzed. The features of images of OCT in vitreomacular traction syndrome were observed. Results Five types were found in the images of OCT in the patients with vetreomacular traction syndrome. The main characteristic of the images of OCT in the patients with vitreomacular traction was the highly reflective band of the vitreous posterior cortex inservion at fovea. In 25 patients, vitreomacular traction associated with macular edema was found in 10, macular hole in 3, macular epiretinal membrane in 6, retinoschisis in 1, and retinal detachment in 5. Conclusion OCT is a potential powerful toll for detecting and monitoring vitreomacular traction syndrome.

ObjectiveTo evaluate biomechanical properties of transoralpharyngeal atlantoaxial reduction plate (TARP) prepared from magnesium alloy and titanium alloy for the atlantoaxial dislocation by using three-dimensional finite element analysis and to exam the feasibility of using magnesium alloy for preparation of TARP system so as to provide a theoretical basis for clinical surgery.MethodsA patient with typical atlantoaxial fracture dislocation was involved in the study,and received thin CT scan with clinically used titanium alloy TARP system for obtaining DICOM image data.Three-dimensional finite element analysis software was imported to simulate magnesium alloy and titanium alloy TARP systems for reduction and fixation.Then,stress changes of the atlas,axis,internal fixators and C2/3 zygapophysial joints were determined with three-dimensional finite element analysis and analyzed statistically.Results ( 1 ) The finite element model of atlantoaxial dislocation reduction and fixation had lifelike outline and good geometric similarity.There were 53 586 nodes and 180 784 units.(2) During the simulation of head in neutral position,the stress concentration region was C2/3 zygapophysial joints followed by the anterior arch,posterior arch and lateral mass of atlas respectively,and C2 vertebral arch again.( 3 )Magnesium alloy and titanium alloy TARP systems showed significant difference in stress distribution (P ＜0.05).Conclusions(1)The atlantoaxial model established according to its structure information on CT can be used for biomechanical experiments.(2) For the treatment of atlantoaxial dislocation using the existing titanium TARP system,maintaining the integrity of anterior and posterior arch of atlas and confirming the bone fusion in lateral mass can better keep the stability of the atlantoaxis.After atlantoaxial fusion,the increased stress of the zygapophysial joints of the adjacent segments accelerates structural degeneration,which should be closely followed up.( 3 ) Magnesium alloy TARP system for fixation and reduction shows the fall in peak value of the stress concentration region,and improvement of the uniformity of stress distribution as compared with titanium alloy TARP.

Objective Research the correlation between expression of MMP-2 in colorectal cancer and patho- logical factors,or biological behaviors in colorectal cancer.Methods The expression of MMP-2 in 68 cases with col- orectal cancer were detected by immunohistochemical staining.Results The expression of MMP-2 in colorectal can- cer was not correlated with tumor region and histologic type,but related with depth of tumor invasion and metasta- sis.The frequency of positive cases in patients with colorectal cancer with of lymph,node metastasis was significantly higher than that in patients without lymph node metastasis(P

Purpose The aim of this study is to define molecular sub-healthy status among individuals attending routine physical examination.Methods This study examined 8 blood tumor markers among 5 825 healthy individuals.Results (1) Differences in levels of tumor markers were observed between males and females.(2) Elevated CA72-4 levels were seen in 16.05％ of individuals in both sexes.(3) More males had elevated levels of CEA and CYFRA21-1.Among the individuals with elevated levels of tumor markers,most were clustered in the prime age group of 41 to 50 years.Conclusion This is the first large-sample survey in healthy Han population in Xinjiang,which found elevated levels of all 8 markers tested with varying rates.Accordingly,this study proposes for the first time a concept of molecular sub-healthy status and a strategy of early tumor screening at molecular level.The molecular sub-healthy status may be an early warning sign for potential cancers,which should draw attention by preventive public health policies.

Aim To investigate the effect of polysac-charide of Cistanche deserticola ( CDPS) on the impro-ving ability of synaptic plasticity in memory acquisition impairment model mice induced by scopolamine. Methods The KM mice were randomly divided into six groups:scopolamine group, control group, CDPS-treated (25, 50, 100 mg·kg-1 ) group and donepezil group. Memory acquisition impairment model in mice was established with i. p. scopolamine (4 mg·kg-1 ) only once, and orally administered CDPS (25, 50, or 100 mg · kg-1 ) daily for 6 weeks before scopolamine injection. Experimental groups were subjected to step-down test and Morris water maze test. Western blot and RT-PCR analysis were used to examine the expression of GAP-43 , SYP and PSD-95 . Transmission electron
microscope was used to observe the change of synaptic number and structures. Results CDPS (25,50,100 mg·kg-1 ) could shorten the incubation period of mice in the water maze test. Control group and CDPS-treated group swam longer in Q3 than scopolamine group. Mo-reover, CDPS (50,100 mg·kg-1 ) could significantly reduce the error times and extend the incubation period in the step-down test. The results of Western blot and RT-PCR showed that CDPS significantly improved the expression of GAP-43 at the dose of 25 ,50 mg · kg-1 and SYP at the dose of 25,50, 100 mg·kg-1 in hip-pocampus of mice. However, the biochemical assays did not reveal a significant difference in the basal hipp-ocampal levels of the PSD-95 . The ultra-thin speci-mens of hippocampus showed that the number of syn-
apse was increased in CDPS-treated group. Conclu-sions Scopolamine can induce the learning and mem-ory deficits in mice to make related protein expression abnormalities in hippocampus mice, thus this causes the change of synaptic plasticity, which leads to a change in the ability of learning and memory. And CDPS can improve the expression of SYP and GAP-43 ,
increase number of synapses, recover synaptic plastici-ty, and improve the ability of learning and memory in mice.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the related factors of the infection after operation of open tibiofibula fractures.

METHODSThe clinical data of 141 patients with open tibiofibula fractures underwent surgical treatment from June 2009 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients were male and aged from 18 to 61 years old with an average of 39.2 years; all the fractures were unilateral. According to Gustilo typing of fracure, 5 cases were type I, 44 cases were type II, 27 cases were type III a, 56 cases were type III b and 9 cases were type III c. These clinical data included patients' age, gender, body mass index (BMI), underlying diseases, time of operation, fracture site, fracture type, fixation method, postoperative drainage, debridement condition and so on. The postoperative infection conditions were recorded, and the correlation between above factors and infections were analyzed. Finally, the significant related variables were introduced into a Logistic regression model to evaluated their risk.

RESULTSAmong the 141 patients, 22 cases developed with infection (15.6%). The significant relative factors with infection contained fixation method, debridement condition, underlying diseases and postoperative drainage (P < 0.05). The correlativities were stepped up in order, their odds ratios value was 2.451, 3.164, 3.414, 5.117, respectively.

CONCLUSIONActive treatment for underlying diseases before operation, thorough debridement for open wound, suitable fixation method for fracture and thorough draining are effective measures in preventing postoperative infection.

To investigate the effects of Xuefu Zhuyu Oral Liquid, a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine for resolving stagnation, on hemorheology in the patients with blood-stasis syndrome due to coronary disease and their relationship with human platelet antigen-3 (HPA-3) polymorphism of membrane glycoprotein IIb (GPIIb).

Objective To investigate the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and its influencing factors in patients with gastric remnant cancer (GRC).Methods A total of 130 patients received gastrectomy more than 10 years ago because of early gastric cancer.According to the gastric remnant canceration after the surgery,patients were divided into GRC group (80 cases) and gastric remnant group (50 cases).Both the patients of these two groups accepted questionnaires of cancer patients' quality of life questionnaire (QLQ) C30 and gastric cancer specific questionnaire QLQ-STO22,the HRQoL were evaluated.The comparison between two groups with normal distribution of data was aralyzed by t test.Wilcoxon rank sum test was applied for the comparison between two groups with non-normal distribution of data.Optimal scaling regression analysis was used for screening HRQoL related clinical influencing factors.Results All the research objectives finished the questionnaires survey.Compared with health control group,the scores of GRC group were lower,which included quality of life evaluation,physical function,role function,emotional function,cognitive function and social function,and the differences were statistically significant (t =-6.678,-7.111,-10.605,-5.748,-4.765 and-21.170,all P＜0.01).The scores of fatigue,pain,diarrhea,nausea and vomiting,loss of appetite,economic difficulties,dysphagia,abdominal pain,reflux symptoms,diet restricted,anxiety,physical appearance and hair loss were higher,and the differences were significant (t=6.925,4.218,4.728 and Z=-5.236,-7.890,-7.698,-10.058,-3.612,-6.914,-9.711,9.940,-7.987 and-4.966,all P＜0.01).Compared with gastric remnant group,the scores of GRC group were lower,which included quality of life evaluation,physical function,role function,emotional function,cognitive function and social function,and the differences were statistically significant (t=-5.861,-5.821,-7.077,-7.999,-2.808and-5.710,all P＜0.01).However the scores of fatigue,pain,diarrhea,nausea and vomiting,loss of appetite,economic difficulties,dysphagia,diet restricted,anxiety,physical appearance and hair loss were higher,and the differences were significant (t=9.363,6.842 and Z=-2.654,-6.256,-3.266,-4.132,-2.854,-7.996,-4.258 and-2.005,all P＜0.01).Compared with health control group,the score of social function of gastric remnant group was lower and the difference was significant (t =-9.820,P＜ 0.01); the scores of diarrhea,nausea and vomiting,economic difficulties,dysphagia,reflux symptoms,diet restricted,physical appearance and hair loss were higher,the differences were statistical significant (t=3.020 and Z=-1.981,-3.775,-6.505,-6.098,-8.032,-3.369 and-3.147,all P＜0.05) ; the symptom scores of fatigue and pain were lower,the differences were significant (t=-2.890 and-2.439,all P＜0.05).HRQoL of patients was positively correlated with education degree,marital status,family income and the disease course of gastric remnant.Conclusions HRQoL of GRC patients decreased to certain degree.Education degree,marital status,family income and the disease course of gastric remnant were the influential factors of HRQoL in GRC patients.

Objective To explore the value of bone marrow biopsy ( BMB) in early diagnosis of aggressive NK cell leukaemia( ANKL). Methods The clinical data of ten cases with ANKL were retrospectively analyzed,morphology, immunophenotype and hybridization in situ of bone marrow were analyzed. Results In all cases, BMB showed hypercellular, with 4 cases markedly hypercellular. Atypical neoplastic cells demonstrated focal and fascicle growth pattern and were composed of median-sized cells with a few cytoplasm, slightly irregular nuclei, fine chromatin, indistinct nucleoli and some mitotic counting. Characteristic histocytes with haemophagocytosis were observed in the bone marrow slides. The neoplastic cells were positive for CD2、CD3e、CD7、CD56、TIA-1. EBER was found positive in all cases. Conclusion Bone marrow biopsy and immunochemistry were essential and reliable diagnostic tool in early diagnosis of ANKL.

In this paper, miRNAs features were briefly introduced and agreeable points were discussed from 4 aspects: organs relationship, syndrome research, Chinese medical pathogeneses, and actions of Chinese herbs. miRNAs, as information media for organs interrelation, was believed to explain Chinese medical pathogeneses and reveal partial molecular mechanisms of Chinese medicine. miRNAs in the body fluid could be taken as one of biological bases of syndromes.
