Objective To investigate the changes in neuron-spe ci fic enolase (NSE) and S100B in patient′s serum before, during and after surgery of acute cerebral trauma, and to examine the influence of propofol, a venous an esthetic, on these changes, so as to evaluate the brain-protective effects of t his agent. Methods Ten patients with no cerebral injury and sch eduled for urological operation served as control group. Thirty patients with ce rebral trauma were randomly allocated to either propofol group (n=15) or iso flurane group (n=15). NSE and S100B were measured by ELISA in both propofol and isoflurane groups before surgery, 2 hours after cranial surgery started, and after surgery. The same measurement was done in the control group only before s urgery. Glasgow scores of patients with cerebral trauma were estimated and recor ded. Results Before surgery, the NSE and S100B in the patients with cerebral trauma were significantly higher than that in the control group ( P

SUMMARY Tonguesquamouscellcarcinoma(TSCC)isthemostcommontypeoforalcancerandis well known for its high rate of proliferation and lymph nodal metastasis.Exploring the underlying path-ways regulating TSCC could provide novel ideas for diagnosis and prognosis of TSCC patients,as well as molecular targets for treatment of TSCC.MicroRNAs (miRNAs)are small noncoding RNAs that inhibit gene expression through the 3′untranslated regions (3′UTRs)of their target messenger RNAs.They play crucial roles in numerous biological processes, including cancer progression.Although great efforts have been made, what role miRNAs may play in the early detection and diagnosis of TSCC is not fully under-stood .Recently, our team has performed a series of basic and clinical researches in an attempt to investi-gate the relationships between miRNA expressions and prognosis of patients with TSCC and the mecha-nisms under regulation of TSCC.The results showed that miR-1 95,miR-34a,miR-29b,miR-375 and miR-26a could inhibit TSCC cells progression and development via a sophisticated network of genes.Spe-cifically,the anti-tumor effects of miR-1 95 in TSCC may be partially mediated by its inhibition of Cy-clinD1 and Bcl-2 expression. The expression of miR-34a could inhibit migration and invasion of TSCC cell lines via targeting MMP9 and MMP1 4.The function of miR-29b may be through the miR-29b/Sp1 /PTEN/AKT axis.Overexpression of miR-375 inhibited Sp1 expression by targeting the 3′untranslated re-gion of the Sp1 transcript.MEG3 and miR-26a inhibited TSCC cell proliferation, cycle progression and promoted cell apoptosis and miR-26a could increase the MEG3 expression through reduction of the ex-pression of DNMT3B in TSCC.In light of the role of those miRNAs in diagnosis and prognosis of TSCC, we reported that decreased miR-1 95 and miR-375 expression was associated with poor overall survival rate of the TSCC patients, while miR-34a expression was negatively correlated with cervical lymph node me-tastases.Furthermore,combined low expression levels of miR-26a and MEG3 emerged as an independent prognostic factor for poor clinical outcomes in TSCC patients, suggesting that combined miR-26a and MEG3 expression might prove useful as an independent biomarker of clinical prognosis among TSCC pa-tients.

Objective To evaluate efficacy and clinical feasibility of 125Ⅰ combined with high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU)therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods.The study included 10 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma(primary hepatic carcinoma,5 cases.Tumor recurrence of hepatocelluhr carcinoma after hepatecomy,5 cases). All the cases were treated with 125I combined with HIFU.Resultsl The operationWas successfully completed in all the cases. No severe post-operative complication occurred.CT acall found no displacement of 125Ⅰ seeds.CT 8can showed that reduced size of tmnor changed in different degree. The l month,3 month,6 month and l year survival cases were 8,7,5 and 2.During 3 to 18 months follow up,2 cases died within 1 month. Two cases survived more than 22 months. Conclusion Using 125Ⅰ combined with HIFU is safe, minimally invasive and effective for treatment of hepatocellular careinom.

Objective The purpose of this study was to examine the status quo of the perceptions of professional benefits in the clinical teachers of nursing, analyze the influencing factors and put forward effective measures to improve it.Methods A convenience sample of 117 nurse preceptors in 4 teaching hospitals participated by completing a two-part questionnaire the Preceptor's Perception of Benefits and Rewards Scale and a demographic questionnaire. Results The total average score of benefits and rewards to the preceptor role was(63.64±9.93) points, low than the study done by Hyrkas(2007) in American.Nurse preceptors in different nursing unit felt different benefits and rewards to the preceptor role.Medicine unit and surgical unit were higher than Pediatrics unit. The longer time of being preceptor, the higher score of benefits and rewards to the preceptor role. Conclusions The score of benefits and rewards to the preceptor role is low.Hospitals should increase support for clinical teaching program, particularly pediatrics.Nurse managers should adjust promotion opportunities, workload, rewards of nurse preceptors to meet the needs of nurses in clinical teaching and to improve teaching effectiveness.

Objective:To investigate the effect of search for meaning on depression and the moderating role of perspective change in college students. Methods:The participants were 1 16 college students. The hypotheses were tested by analyzing data collected at 3 time points. Search for meaning and the presence of meaning in life were measured with the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, the dimension of perspective change in Meaning-Focused Coping Questionnaire was used to assess the ability to change perspective, and depression was assessed with the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Results:The scores of perspective change was positively corre-lated with scores of meaning in life (r=0. 29 ,P<0. 0 1 ),and negatively correlated with CES-D scores (r=-0. 34,P<0. 001). The scores of perspective change moderated the relationship between scores of search for mean-ing and scores of presence of meaning in life (β=0. 22,P<0. 01 ),and this interaction effected CES-D scores through the mediation of scores of presence of meaning in life. That is,for the individuals with lower perspectivechange score (blow one standard),the score of search for meaning was negatively associated with the presence of meaning in life, with in turn increased CES-D scores,95%CI:0. 07 -033;among the individuals with higher per-spective change scores (above one standard),there was no mediation effect. Conclusion:The results suggest that perspective change could moderate the relationship between search for meaning and meaning in life, which in turn buffers depression. The findings imply the potential positive role of perspective change in the process of searching for meaning in life among university students.
