4.3. 0-Tesla: opportunities and challenges.
Chinese Medical Sciences Journal 2006;21(4):205-208
With the development of magnetic resonance (MR) technology, the concern is focused on molecular and physiological imaging besides structural information. Ultra high field MR scanner shows great superiority. 3. 0-T MR scanners provide almost two-fold signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared with a standard 1. 5-T MR scanner. The higher baseline SNR can be converted into a variety of alternative benefits. There are still some other changes brought about by 3. 0-T, such as higher sensitivity to motion, susceptibility effect, more difference in resonant frequency among different metabolites, and so on. These features may be a double-edged sword in structural and functional imaging. But with the ceaseless progress of the technology and gains in experience, 3. 0-T systems will provide more information and show more advantages.

BACKGROUND:The finite element analysis used to study the biomechanical properties of foot structure contributes to overcome the disadvantages of traditional mechanical analysis of specimens. OBJECTIVE:To summarize some representative finite element models of the foot and review the establishment methods of finite element models of the foot with biomechanical properties. METHODS:A computer-based online search was conducted in CNKI, Wanfang and PubMed databases by using the key words of“finite element model, biomechanic, foot structure”from 1999 to 2015. The language was limited to both Chinese and English. Establishment methods of finite element models of the foot structure containing obtaining of model establishment data, establishment of solid model, setting methods of properties of model materials. The application of finite element analysis of the foot structure in sports biomechanics and medical orthotics was summarized to point the characteristics and disadvantages of finite element analysis application in biomechanics. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:An increasing number of studies on foot biomechanics provide the platform for finite element analysis of the foot applied in biomechanical analysis. Many key technologies, including self-adaption image segmentation method, hexahedron grid product method and establishment of finite element models with various materials have to be utilized to converse the medical images into digital models of finite element analysis during establishment of finite element models. Results of model establishment may be affected by limitation conditions, accuracy of image col ection, calculation results of finite element analysis. The reliability of finite element models can be increased by modify technologies and verification methods.

Chinese Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology 2014;(5):713-717
OBJECTIVE To investigate whether α-lipoic acid(α-LA)can promote the anti-prolifera-tion effect of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamic acid(PDTC)in Hep-2 cells. METHODS The laryngeal carcino-ma Hep-2 cells were cultured with α-LA,PDTC or α-LA+PDTC respectively for 12,24 and 48 h. The proliferation of Hep-2 cells was detected by WST-1 assay and soft agar colony formation while apoptosis and cell cycle were analyzed by Hoechst33258 staining and flow cytometry. RESULTS α-LA 5 -500 μmol·L-1 could not inhibit Hep-2 cell proliferation, but PDTC 5 -50 μmol·L-1 could( P ﹤0.05,P ﹤0.01). The cell proliferation inhibitory rate of PDTC 5 μmol·L-1 combined with α-LA 5,10 and 20 μmol·L-1 groups was much higher than in control group(P﹤0.01)and PDTC alone group(P﹤0.05). When α-LA 5 μmol·L-1 was used in combination with PDTC 5 μmol·L-1 for 12-48 h,the cell proliferation was inhibited in a time-dependent manner(r=0.987,P﹤0.05). When the cells were treated for 24 h,the number of soft agar colony formations in combined group was significantly smaller than that of both α-LA alone group(P﹤0.01)and PDTC alone group(P﹤0.05). The result of Hoechst33258 staining and flow cytometry indicated that after combined treatment with PDTC 5 μmol·L-1 and α-LA 5 μmol·L-1 for 24 h,the level of apoptosis and the percentage of cells in G2 / M stage were significantly increased compared with PDTC alone or α-LA alone treatment. CONCLUSION α-LA can enhance the anti-proliferation and pro-apoptosis effect of PDTC in Hep-2 cells.

Chinese Journal of Neurology 2001;0(03):-
Objective To introduce the clinical manifestations of REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) which hasn't been reported in China ever before and to discuss the possible causes and mechanisms of the disease. Methods Ten cases of RBD verifted by polysomnography(PSG)were analyzed retrospectively. Results All patients were senile or in middle ages and most of them were male. The main clinical features included violent movements, shouting and other abnormal behaviors occuring in dreams when they fell asleep.Four cases were diagnosed as Parkinsonism,2 as multiple system atrophy and 1 as cerebral trauma. The causes of another 3 cases were unknown.all symptoms of them were relieved by using clonazepam administered prior to sleep. The PSG of all cases showed a loss of normal muscular atonia and an appearance of EMG activities during REM sleep. Conclusions RBD should be considered when patients showed abnormal especially violent behaviors in sleep.PSG should be essential for its correct diagnosis and the differentiation from partial complex epilepsy.Clonazepam given prior to sleep should be effective for treatment.
