Objective To explore the effect of hippophae rhamnoides on the level of plasma appetite factors neuropeptide Y ,the gastric motility and on their body fat in children with functional dyspepsia .Methods A hundred and twenty children with functional dyspepsia were simple random sampled divided into the three groups :Group Ⅰ( treated with hippophae rhamnoides ) ,Group Ⅱ( treated with domperidone ) , and Group Ⅲ( treated with hippophae rhamnoides plus domperidone ) .The treatment lasted for eight weeks .The level of plasma neuropeptide Y ( NPY) were measured before and after treatment .All patients underwent a gastric emptying ( GE) test by ultrasound ( US) to measure the rate of postprandial gastric antrum residual ,at 30min,60min,90min and 120min.The average value of subcutaneous fat,body fat percentage,upper arm girth,weight and height were also measured .Results There were no statistical difference between the level of NPY in plasma of groupⅠ,ⅡandⅢbefore treatment,which were (107.52 ±24.12)ng/L, (114.63 ±17.95)ng/L and(114.56 ±25.10)ng/L(F=1.307,P>0.05).After treatment,there were statistical difference between the level of NPY in plasma of groupⅠ,ⅡandⅢ,which were (137.38 ±29.86) ng/L,(121.43 ± 13.78)ng/L and (149.27 ±31.9)ng/L.The level of NPY in plasma of groupⅠandⅢwere markedly increased after treatment(t=4.95,5.40,all P<0.05).The postprandial gastric antrum remains in Groups ⅠandⅢwere less than that in group Ⅱat 60 min,90 min and 120 min,respectively(F=4.93,6.40,4.61,all P<0.05).The thickness of skin fold(SF),body fat percentage and upper arm girth and weight in groupⅠand Ⅲ increased more than those in group Ⅱ(F=16.80,46.9,21.06,all P<0.05).The level of plasma appetite factors ,the rate of gastric antrum remaing and SF,body fat percentage,arm girth and weight was similar in groupⅠand group Ⅲ (P >0.05). Conclusion In children′s functional dyspepsia ,the hippophae rhamnoides increases the level of appetite factor neu-ropeptide Y,The child′s body fat increases markedly and physical growth also has obvious improvement .

Objective To produce the experimental pig model of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) through raising pigs in the lower pressure container in order to study the effect of low pressure on morphology of upper respiratory soft tissue in pig.Methods The pigs were living in a container of low pressure for 6 months to make up the pig models of OSAHS.When the symptoms like OSAHS appearing and the pharyngeal respiratory pressure changing like the characteristics of OSAHS,the pigs were scanned by CT and compared with controls.Results The pharyngeal rear wall and soft palate in model pigs were thickened(0.94 cm?0.16 cm and 1.06 cm?0.23 cm respectively),while in control groups were(0.60 cm?0.11 cm and 0.59 cm?0.13 cm respectively).The cross-sectional area of upper airway in anterior,middle and rear parts were(1.49?0.12) cm2,(1.37?0.32) cm2 and(1.00?0.21) cm2 respectively,the narrowest part was in rear area,and in control groups were(1.30?0.14) cm2,(1.57?0.32) cm2 and(2.48?0.42) cm2 respectively.Conclusion The lower pressure condition can be used to produce animal experimental model of OSAHS,the low pressure is the important factor to cause OSAHS.

Objectives To investigate the associations of the plasma homocysteine levels with the alterations in arterial stiffness in a commu-nity-based cohort. The gender differences in these associations were examined. Methods We evaluated the relationship between plasma homocysteine levels to three measures of vascular function [carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (CF-PWV), carotid-ankle PWV (CA-PWV) and heart rate corrected augmentation index (AI)] in 1680 participants (mean age:61.5 years;709 men, 971 women) from communities of Beijing, China. Results In univariate analysis, plasma homocysteine levels was positively related to the CF-PWV (r=0.211, P<0.0001) and CA-PWV (r=0.148, P<0.0001), whereas inversely associated with AI (r=?0.052, P=0.016). In multiple linear regression models adjusting for covariants, plasma homocysteine remained positively related to the CF-PWV (standardizedβ=0.065, P=0.007) in total cases. When the groups of men and women were examined separately, plasma homocysteine remained positively associated with the CF-PWV (standardizedβ=0.082, P=0.023) in men, whereas the relations between homocysteine and any of the arterial stiffness indices were not further present in women. Conclusions In Chinese population, plasma homocysteine levels are independently associated with alterations of large artery stiffness in men but not in women.

BACKGROUND: Silk fibroin derived from silk had a good biocompatibility and biodegradation, which could be used for biomaterials to improve cell adhesion and growth abilities. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of silk fibroin/hydroxyapatite (SF/HA) compounded of adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) on repairing bone defects. METHODS: Adipose tissues were derived from epididymis of 2-month-old New Zealand rabbits and trypsogen-passaged to obtain ADSCs. The third-passage ADSCs at the concentration of 1×10/L were placed on SF/HA scaffold. Three hours later, the composite was cultured with DMEM culture media containing 1 μmol/L dexamethasone, 50 μmol/L vitamin C, and 10 mmol/L β-sodium glycerophosphate. Thirty-six rabbits were induced cancellated bone defect sizing 4.5 mm × 4.5 mm × 10 mm. The composite group was implanted with SF/HN/ADSCs scaffold, the simple group was implanted with SF/HA scaffold, but any treatment was employed in the blank control group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: At 12 weeks, general observation demonstrated that the bone defects were repaired entirely in composite group and partly in simple group. However, the bone defect was not repaired in the blank control group. X-ray and histological observation suggested that at 12 weeks the bone defects were repaired entirely in composite group and partly in simple group. The quantity of the newly formed bone in the composite group was significantly more than that in the simple group (P < 0.05). Repair showed no effect in the blank control group. SF/HA/ADSCs composite could successfully repair bone defects of a rabbit femur, and the effect was superior to SF/HA scaffold.

Objective To investigate the relationship of sperm morphology with seminal plasma zinc and sperm acrosin activity in male infertile patients.Methods 455 patients with male infertility were divided into 5 groups and 8 groups according to age and sperm morphology respectively.The sperm morphology,seminal plasma zinc and sperm acrosin activity were detected by the Diff-Quik stain,modified 5-Br-PAPS and modified Kennedy methods respectively.Results The percentages of morphologically normal sperm and seminal plasma zinc concentration in the infertile men groups were not different in various age groups(P >0.05 ).The sperm acrosin activity in the age group of 36-50 years was remarkably decreased (P <0.05),while which in other age groups had no statistical difference(P >0.05).Seminal plasma zinc concentration in the infertile men groups were not different in the 8 groups (P >0.05 ).Sperm acrosin activity was decreased with the percentage decrease of morphologically normal sperm (r =0.93,P <0.01).Conclusion The percentage of morphologically normal sperm is not affectd by the age and the seminal plasma zinc,which is positively correlated with the sperm acrosin activity.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the curative effect of CI in children with GJB2-associated NSSNHL. METHOD: The evaluations of curative effect with CI include auditory threshold, IT-MAIS/MAIS, CAP, SIR. MESP. The outcomes of 40 cases with GJB2-associated NSSNHI, were compared 80 patients with negative results of screening of gene mutation (control group). RESULT: In comparison with control group the auditory threshold in children with GJB2-associated NSSNIL is better, however had no significant difference in other tests (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION CI could he performed on children with GJB2-associated NSSNHL. Postoperative outcomes of hearing and speech were satisfied.

Objective To evaluate the effect of hydrogen sulfide on hippocampal endoplasmic reticulum stress during global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats.Methods Seventy-two pathogen-free healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 280-320 g,aged 8-10 weeks,were divided into 3 groups (n=24 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (group Sham),global cerebral I/R group (group I/R) and global cerebral I/R plus sodium hydrosulfide group (group I/R+NaHS).Cardiac arrest was induced with transoesophageal cardiac pacing followed by cardiopulmonary resuscitation to establish the global cerebral I/R model.Immediately after recovery of spontaneous circulation,sodium hydrosulfide 2.5 mg/kg was intraperitoneally injected in group I/R+NaHS,and normal saline 5 ml/kg was given in group I/R.The hippocampi were immediately removed at 24 h of reperfusion for determination of the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78),C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) and caspase-12 in hippocampal tissues (by Western blot).At 1,3 and 7 days of reperfusion,the hippocampal tissues were obtained and stained with haematoxylin and eosin for examination of the pathological changes in hippocampal CA1 region (under a light microscope) and for determination of apoptosis in hippocampal cells (using TUNEL staining),and the apoptosis rate was calculated.Results Compared with group Sham,the apoptosis rate of hippocampal tissues at 1,3 and 7 days of reperfusion in group I/R and at 3 and 7 days of reperfusion in group I/R+NaHS were significantly increased,and the expression of GRP78,CHOP and caspase-12 in hippocampal tissues was significantly up-regulated in I/R and I/R+NaHS groups (P＜0.05).Compared with group I/R,the apoptosis rate of hippocampal tissues was significantly decreased,and the expression of GRP78,CHOP and caspase-12 was down-regulated at 1,3 and 7 days of reperfusion (P＜0.05),and the pathological changes were significantly attenuated in group I/R+NaHS.Conclusion The mechanism by which hydrogen sulfide reduces apoptosis in hippocampal cells is related to inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress during global cerebral I/R in rats.
