Objective To observe the effects of herbal compound in reinforcing the kidney for activating blood and arousing consciousness(HCRAA) on the ABR threshold and the expression of neurotrophic factor 3(NT-3) of the cochlea of gentamicin (GM)-induced ototoxic mice.Methods 40 mice were randomly divided into normal group,model group,and high,middle and low concentration HCRAA groups.Normal group received no treatment.The model group and the HCRAA groups were intraperitoneally injected with GM 100mg/kg per day for consecutive 15 days.At the same time,the model group and the HCRAA groups respectively receiveded normal saline and high,middle and low concentration Chinese medical formula decoction at the same dosage by garage for consecutive 20 days.After the experiment,the mice were tested ABR.The expression of NT-3 of the cochlea in mice was detected by western blot.Results HCRAA at high and middle concentration reduced the GM elevated ABR threshold(P＜0.01),and increased the expression of NT-3 in the cochlea(P＜0.01).Conclusion HCRAA may effectively reduce the elevated ABR threshold induced by gentamycin by protecting GM damaged cochlear hair cell and neurons and increasing the expression of NT-3 in the cochlea.

Objective:To explore the effect of behavioral training of creative art therapy(CAT) on interpersonal communication in teenagers.Methods:Eighty teenagers were randomly divided into study group( n=40) and control group( n=40).The study group was received the behavioral training of CAT (12 times, each activity lasts for 120 min), and the control group did not take part in the behavioral training of CAT.The two groups were measured with self-esteem scale(SES), shyness scale(SS) and social anxiety scale for children(SASC) before and after behavior training.SPSS 17.0 software was used for statistical analysis, and t-test variance analysis and Mann-Whitney U test were used to compare the differences between groups or within groups. Results:Before and after behavioral training, changes in the SES total score (7.00(5.00, 9.75) vs 1.00(0, 2.00)), the SS total score (7.00(6.00, 12.75) vs 2.00(1.00, 3.00)), the SASC total score (5.00(2.00, 8.75) vs 0(0, 1.00)) and two factor scores (3.00(0.25, 5.00) vs 1.00(0, 1.00), 2.00(1.00, 4.00) vs 0(0, 1.00))in the study group were obviously higher than those in the control group( Z=-7.347, -7.338, -5.841, -4.122 and -5.393, all P<0.05).The score differences of the SASC total score ((7.19±3.82) vs (3.21±3.04)) and two factor scores ((4.00±2.23) vs (1.68±2.05), 3.00 (1.00, 5.00) vs 2.00 (0, 2.00)) of girls were significantly higher than those of boys in the study group ( t=-3.611, -3.398, Z=-2.111, P=0.001, 0.002, 0.035). Conclusion:Behavioral training of CAT can improve teenagers' self-esteem, relieve their shyness and social anxiety, as well as promote their interpersonal communication.

Objective To document the etiologies of seizures in children admitted to the pediatric observation unit of an inen r city hospital in Chian .Me thods A ot tal of 975 children ( aged 1 month to 18 years old) admitted to the pediatric observation unit of Guangzhou Women adn Children′s Medical Center between October,2013 and October,2014 with seizures were evaluated restrospectively.Results A total of 975 patients were included in this study.The causes of seizures were febrile seizures ( 588 cases,60.3%) , epilepsy( 163 cases, 16.7%) , and benign inaf ntile convulsions associated with mild gasrt oenteritis ( 111 cases,11.4%) .The main causes of seizures for children less than one year old were febrile seizures ( 75 cases,34.1%) and epilepsy(75 cases,34.1%),following by the intracranial infection(22 cases,10.0%). Febrile seizures also predominated the causes of seizures among children between one and six years old(487 cases, 70.3%),whereas benign infantile convulsions associated with mild gastroenteritis accounting for 14.0%(97 cases) of all causes.Meanwhile, the leading causes of seizures for children of six years or older were febrile seizures(26 cases,41.9%) and epilepsy(20 cases,32.3%).Conclusion Febrile seizures is the leading cause of seizures among children.Contrast to previous studies,the proportions of epilepsy and benign infantile convulsions associated with mild gastroenteritis are increasing,while the proportion of intracranial infection is reducing.Rapid assessment and accurately identifying the etiology play an important role in the management of seizures.

AIM:To explore the effects of pentoxifylline (PTX) on ventricular remodeling and cardiac function in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) rats.METHODS: Lewis rats were randomly allocated to a myocin-induced dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) group receiving saline (n=10), a DCM group receiving PTX (PTX group; 25 mg?kg-1?d-1, ip, for 30 days, n=10) or healthy control group (n=10). The levels of tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-10 in the blood plasma were analyzed by ELISA. The extent of fibrosis was estimated using Masson's staining and immunohistochemistry analyses. We developed a rapid method to detect Cu2+and glutathione(GSH)based on the fluorescence quenching-recovery properties of graphene quantum dots(GQDs),which were synthesized by the gentle oxidation of graphite powder.The results revealed that the fluorescence intensity of GQDs versus concentration of Cu2+and GSH had good linearity, with the detection limits of 0.01 and 0.1 mmol/L, respectively.The fluorescence quenching was linearly proportional to the concentrations of Cu2+ranging from 1.0 to 10.0 mmol/L;the fluores-cence intensity was linearly enhanced with the concentrations of GSH ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 mmol/L.In addi-tion,the method was successfully applied to the determination of real samples with recoveries falling between 93％-101％ and 96％-107％,respectively.This method is simple,accurate and precise.There was no interference with other familiar co-existing metal ions and potential materials.

OBJECTIVE: This study was to investigate the expression and significance of Integrins subunits in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). METHOD: The expression of Integrins subunits was detected by cDNA microarray in 4 cases of primary LSCC tissues and corresponding adjacent normal tissues. Semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to identify the different expression of Integrins subunits in 24 cases of primary LSCC tissues and corresponding adjacent normal tissues. RESULT: A cDNA microarray analysis revealed significant changes in the expression of Integrins subunits, with IntegrinalphaV, Integrinbeta8 being up-regulated and Integrinalpha8 being down-regulated. The result of RT-PCR was consistent with that of cDNA microarray. The mRNA levels of IntegrinalphaV and Integrinbeta8 were significantly higher in LSCC tissues than that in corresponding adjacent normal tissues (1.0131 +/- 0.4780 vs 0.7591 +/- 0.4678 for IntegrinalphaV, P<0.05, 1.7362 +/- 1.3849 vs 1.2267 +/- 0.9363 for Integrinbeta8, P<0.05). The mRNA levels of Integrinalpha8 were significantly lower in LSCC tissues than that in corresponding adjacent normal tissues (0.2646 +/- 0.2622 vs 0.5457 +/- 0.3827, P<0.05). CONCLUSION The expression of IntegrinalphaV, Integrinbeta8, Integrinalpha8 were significantly up-regulated or down-regulated in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, which may relate to tumorigenesis and development of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective:To investigate the effect of art behavior intervention of yoga training on patients with insomnia comorbid depressive disorder.Methods:Totally 66 patients with insomnia comorbid depressive disorder were randomly divided into the study group( n=36) and the control group( n=30). All patients in two groups were given pharmacotherapy, while the patients in the study group were received art behavior intervention of yoga training for 20 times.Using self-made general information questionnaire to collect the patients' demographic and clinical characteristics.Polysomnography(PSG) was performed to measure objective sleep parameters.The Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI), Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA) were used to measure subjective sleep quality, depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms at baseline and at the end of the interventions. Results:The score differences of pre-and post-intervention in the two group of PSQI total score((11.00±2.72) vs(9.00±2.22)), habitual sleep efficiency((2.02±0.81) vs (1.53±0.77)), daytime dysfunction((1.75±0.90) vs(0.96±0.85)), HAMD total score((12.19±6.25) vs(8.03±5.67)) and HAMA total score(13.00(8.25, 16.75) vs 7.00(5.00, 9.25))in the study group were obviously higher than those in the control group( t=3.220, 2.516, 3.595, 2.806, Z=-3.616, all P<0.05). Conclusion:Art behavior intervention of yoga training can improve sleep quality, depression and anxiety symptoms in patients with insomnia comorbid depressive disorder, which will be applied and popularized in clinical practice.
